  1. Couple of things re mine - Depending on how competetive you want it to be ? I fitted a new Mikuni 26mm Carb from In Motion and what a difference ... The rear brake lever is fine where it is as it doesn't snag on rocks etc..... 9-42 Sprockets as first gear was too high for some sections otherwise - now I can use 1/2/3rd although it is a bit slower on the Road..... Good luck - They are like trying to ride a Buffalo instead of a racehorse .........
  2. "In Motion" to the rescue !!!! Thanks Wobbler
  3. The brake cable i can get a new one so no major problem - The petrol Cap is another Before !!!! and After pics !!! & I know I should know better !!!! matter.......
  4. Sadly my "Pride And Joy" 247 C was stolen out of my van a few weeks ago by some To""ers who rode it around then set fire to it. Luckily I have some insurance but have yet to see what the final outcome is. I am trying to get together some of the more difficult parts as hopefully I can get the salvage as part of the deal. one thing I am really struggling for is a "Push in Petrol Cap" and the second one is the rear brake cable. I'll be really greatful for any help and hopefully like a Phoenix - the old beast can rise out of the ashes. Cheers for any help.... The Wobbler
  5. Go to the classic page - The boys from Edinburgh St Georges are the ones to get to know. Great crack even for an Englishman fre ouer tha bourda - Even my Gaelic is coming along. Good luck and maybe see you at their next trial. The Wobbler
  6. First time with you lads today and what a great day - Fantastic Land and Organisation. All credit to Tam and the Team - And massive thanks to the Landowner for the use of a great piece of genuine trialing ground. Lastly a big thanks to Pete,Willie and Andy (?) for good "Crack" all day. As the Terminator says " I'll Be Back"..... Yours "Hanging On" The Wobbler
  7. I might have a trip up on Sunday - Do I need to be a club member and if so can I pay on the day ?? Will you be posting if it's off because of the Weather. Cheers The Wobbler
  8. Martin, What was the effect on the performance with the heavier flywheel. I have a Mikuni fitted and a quick throttle . Are you going to get the flywheel lightened ? Cheers Wobbler.
  9. Martin, Thanks for that - Mine is the later model with the clutch lever on the top of the casing rather than the underneath. It's also - Slightly more bashed about than yours - I'll try to post some photo's later in the week. Keep me updated Cheers The Wobbler....
  10. Martin, Would be great if you can keep this updated as i too was trying to find an electronic ignition for my 79/80 247c as i'm not very mechanically minded and thought it would be much better for me. What age is your bike - and some pics would be great. cheers The Wobbler
  11. Charlie and All. I appreciate your comment and whole heartedly agree that Andy should not have to worry about any repurcussions. I also understand this is for Trials Forums which to me is really the only place I come for help (Other than friends) Would it be prudent to compliment someone on good work whilst not being able to comment on poor work - I think perhaps "Named and Shamed" is possibly over aggressive terminology. I'm sure there must be a middle ground that Andy is "Happier" with whilst still enabling us to direct our business to people who have given good sevice and to steer away from others. I for one do not have an endless budget for my Trials Bikes and hence need all of the sensible advice I can get - The only time I can't take sensible advice is about going home from the pub early the night before a trial - OK if your'e in the Sidecar but a nightmare if it's solo's Always Wobbling The Wobbler
  12. It's not very often I get involved in Mechanical issues on the web site as I have little or no Knowledge in that area . So here's my ten pence worth. I recently got some fantic bits from Bob Wright and found him very easy to deal with. When My Mechanic (Friend) received the bits the machining wasn't right but could not be seen by the eye - just some fancy gauges - Bob kindly replaced it with a correct one and within a week or so - keeping me very happy. My point being I would like to know who has good and bad service - I too am a motor trader and we get our fair share of CR*P ,but to a certain extent we can always find a middle ground with a customer by conversation - We have only had one "Unsatisfied Customer" in 8 years and he complained on a "Moaners" site without putting his name !! maybe he's not even a customer and just doesn't like me - Well that I can live with all I ask is a right top defend myself openly. So name & shame and let the concerned party have a right to reply - Then we can all make our own "Grown Up Decisions" about who to deal with. The Wobbler (in trials & sometimes in life)
  13. I am in the process of rebuilding a Fantic 243 Mono (Red,blue & White). The rear shock needs rebuilt - it's the earlier model without a seperate resovoir. 2 questions really . 1 - should I get it rebuilt and if so where ? - it doesn't have to be the cheapest , but a quality value for money job. 2 - Will another style of shocker Bolt straight on ? Thanks in advance. The wobbler.
  14. Johnnyboxer, It's a 250 Majesty. Appreciate your thoughts as mine were the same but I've owned this bike for 15 years plus and known the 3 other keepers for approx 12 years before that - the only one I have'nt known is who had it from new and I didn't really want to tamper with it. It's been like this all the time i've known it and was interested to see if "Samyam" might explain the welding etc on the front pipe as well as it's definately been lengthened . Cheers "The Wobbler"
  15. Gents, Interesting to read "Samyam's" comments - I've attached a couple of shots of the exhaust on Godden Majesty which seems to have had the exhaust altered and a back box like i have never seen before - as far as i'm aware this has all been from new
  16. My Montesa Cota 247 C (79/80) - Chassis 21M25327 is in need of a few jobs and any help and advice would be much appreciated. 1 - I lost all clutch at the weekend and upon taking it apart i've found the bush that pushes the three legged plate quite badly worn so my thoughts were to overhaul it all whilst apart. I'm looking to replace the clutch plates - What options do I have and do i need a special tool to remove them. Where can a i source the small bush that goes between the lever and the three legged plate. Does any one have any experience in lenghtening the arm on top of the casing to give a lighter more modern feel ? 2 - I need to replace the steering head bearings Will I need a puller and can I replace them with a modern style bearing that will fit right into place without any machining and if so any part numbers. 3 - My carb is badly worn and having spoken to Amal UK they don't have a direct replacement available . The carb on it is a 627 / 450 and the closest they can get is a 627 / 427 - Will this do the job or just turn out to be a nightmare Any pictures etc would be a great help. Thanks in advance The Wobbler
  17. A friend of mine rode the scottish around 1989 - 1990 . I wondered if there were any entry lists / programmes or anywhere to get some archive photos from. Any help would be appreciated Thanks The Wobbler
  18. Thanks for that - I'd looked at refurbishing it but as I intend to ride it for a while I was prepared to spend a few quid more if someone could advise me on a Carb/Airfilter set up that gave me a bit more performance etc. Understand about the jetting etc. Yours Mostly upside down The Wobbler
  19. My 1979 / 1980 Montesa Cota 247c Amal 627 Carb is quite badly worn. I would like to replace it - possibly with a more modern carb (& air box if required). Any advice & Help (Photos would be good) would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance The Wobbler !!
  20. Can anyone out there advise me on / or help me in getting a bike from Guernsey to the mainland. Preferably to meet at a trial. I would be happy to pay expenses / Costs up to a point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks The Wobbler
  21. I have a Grimeca rear wheel hub which I have fitted to my Fantic 241 (Progress 1) - But when tightened up with the rear brake plate in it tightens up and locks the wheel solid. The most sensible thing woul be to grind the lip of the hub as it's too large. Can any one give me some exact dimensions of the rear wheel and hub fitment with spacers into the rear swinging arm. pictures would also be a great help. Thanks The Wobbler
  22. You can ride any sidecar outfit you like - In theory. But it all depends how good you are - as I can vouch for. just go and enjoy the crack - a better bunch of people you could not meet. The Wobbler
