b40rt..... My 240 hasn't had the steering done - and I'm led to believe that tucking it in makes them quicker and a bit more twitchy in a straight line. I've put a modified top yoke on and it turns more than quick enough - I would try the bike before doing it as there seems to be different schools of thought on the matter. I can't ride in a straight line at the best of times so I wouldn't want it any more Nervous !!! Andy, was it a 200 or 240 ...as I thought the 200 might run on a 428 chain - I think I'm running 10 - 42 on my 240 Cheers for now. The Wobbler

Andy, looks great - I think i'll just go with the Bronze Bushes for the minute. Can you remember the jetting etc for the carb. I'm doing the footpegs but not the head angle - My 240 is fine with the top yoke adjusted - What size chain and what teeth sprockets did you use ?? My 240 - (tatty but built to Ride !!)

I have an FM 237 200 Forward Kick pro that is in rebuild. I'm looking for some swinging arm bushes. swinging arm inner 23mm - Spindle 20mm I had thought they would be the same as a 240 but not so. I'm led to believe they were just a bronze bush ?? and would they have any end caps. On moving the footpegs back what do you do with your stand - as it seems to be in the way ?? Thanks The Wobbler
  7. John- I could send you a fantic to do !!!!!
  8. Thanks b40rt. I'll start to get the team committed - then once I know how many - I might come back to you for some entry help. Cheers for now . The wobbler.
  9. B40rt. Looks spot on maybe the middle / easier course then. Looks great. You've obviously got some good friends. Where do you fly into ?? Then how far to the start ?? Cheers
  10. B40rt Thanks - what travel routes did you use?? Are the sections tight turns or just straight at harder stuff?? I rode the Fantic in the Manx and still had 100 marks on the hard course !! And it turns - the mont is defiantly a straight line bike !!! Cheers for all of the help. Did you enjoy the Manx ??
  11. Metisse, That should be it empty !! b40rt - Have you ridden &if so which course ? How did you travel ? and do you get the start release from the organisers ?? Would you want to go again ?? How does it compare to the Manx ??? Which bike should I take Montesa 247 or 240 Fantic ?? Thanks for your help gents !! As Always The Wobbler
  12. Gents - a few of us are going to venture into Europe in 2015 and would like to do either one or both of the Ventoux / Roregordo in 2015 ....We will have people travelling from Carlisle & Manchester / Wrexham so its a proper "Road Trip" and with between 6-10 possible riders. I understand the dates are around the beginning of October - can anyone confirm the dates ?? Some help on the following would be ideal. Best way to travel ie : Overnight Ferry to Santander / Bilbao ?? with 3 people & the bikes in a van and the others flying and meeting there. What is the nearest village or town to the start of each event. Any special requirements for the twinshock / Classic Bikes .....lights etc Any special rider requirements ..... ACU Licence / Medical etc. All help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Cheers As Always The Wobbler
  13. I would still take it back & leave it with him giving him an opportunity to rectify the problems - then if he doesn't - the trading standards route will be easier - if not he has rights too and that includes the opportunity to fix / rectify the problems. Again "sale of goods act" - but it's there to protect the seller & the buyer ....... Good luck. The wobbler.
  14. For my ten pence worth and I have experience from both sides of the argument. Write to the dealer outlining what was said when you bought it and what was agreed in the purchase price. Give him a period- say 14 days to reply by letter after which you are going to take legal advice and speak to trading standards. Your real protection is the sale of goods act ( check the net) which defines " fit for purpose" . I would personally take the bike back to him outlining your problems and give him a chance to rectify them as agreed/ stated at point of sale. Sadly after that it's small claims court !!! Check and see if he has any other comments/complaints on the net. Don't name and shame until anything is proven as this won't help anything. Hope you get it sorted. The wobbler
  15. Chappo, The Amal on my 247 was so worn I couldn't get it to run at lower revs. Bought A new Mikuni already jetted from the twin shock shop !!! Them job done ..... Ran like a dream until all of the engine bearings have decided to growl their heads off !!! Rebuild time !!! Good luck The wobbler

John, Great job - looks as good as when I had a new one as a schoolboy !!!!
  17. I'm going to try a 10 - 44 combination - I think it should just be a little bit higher (quicker) than a 9-42....... I'll stand corrected if that's wrong Cheers The wobbler
  18. Tam, Hope you and the guys are well. I have been riding the Twinshock Trials Championship for Spanish Bikes and they are looking at organising the rounds for Next year. I know you have some good contacts for land in the South of Scotland and places like the Moffat Venue would be ideal for straight forward Classic Trials. Would there be any chance of organising one .....id be more than happy to organise it if someone could give me any details ?? Cheers As always The Wobbler

John, I've just checked my sprockets and I've got a 10 Front (On this engine) and a 42 Rear.... I think I might have a 9 front on my other engine to gear it down as it was too quick .... 54 Sounds like a big rear sprocket !! Just nipped the back spokes up - going to take it for a play through the week and make sure the engine is OK. Cheers The Wobbler
