    Beta Rev3

Hi, Caution with the caustic soda as it reacts with ally. My Beta is a 2002. I've had the centre box catch alight (smolder) on events that allow you to use higher gears. That cleared it out a little. I thought about buying a middle box but was stopped by the price. I would try heat like oxy/acet to try and burn off stuff.

    petrol !

A friend of mine has had a warning not to use the new higher octane fuels in his 2 stroke glider due to the high amount of ethanol added. I'm not sure what the problem is but it is something the aviation authority has picked up on. So I have stopped using in all my 2 stroke bikes.
  3. Hello,I'm in the process of doing the same thing. I contacted Lamkins and have bought a rebuild kit for the damper. I think it's about
  4. Hello, I use differential oil and apply with a syringe. A litre lasts about 1 1/2 years so it's cheap. I figured that if it can cope with pimion and ring gear contact it should be okay on a chain. I have been using it on all my offroad bikes for 7 years now. Thanks.
  5. Hi, I'm 6'4" tall and have added 25mm spacers. The difference for me was great. My stance is more neutral to the bike which makes everything more comfortable. It improved my riding a lot but took a little to get used to especially when climbing hills.
  6. I would of done it if an entry on the day was possible! I can't commit early due to work.
  7. My son has a 2005 Rev80 and the fan was running constantly. I checked all the usual things like coolant level and all was okay. I replaced the thermister switch, brass coloured thing on the cylinder head with 2 wires attached and this solved it. Thanks.
  8. Hi, I have a 2002 beta Rev 3 250. I bought a dog and have had many problems with a basically worn out bike. What is you're starting problem? When does it happen, cold, hot, or both? Does the bike run fine after starting? Without any of the above questions answered I would remove and strip the carb and give it a good clean out. Empty fuel from the tank and check for water. If you are unsure about the fuel age dispose of it. Clean the air filter. Cheers!
  9. Hi, If the seal replacement does not work it might be worth noting that the water pump case is made from Magnesium which is porous. If there is evidence of scuffing or corrosion in the Mg case the water can seep through into the gearbox. Replacement water pump case is about 60 squid. The newer cases are made with more Ally and are therefore less porous. Good luck!

    Petrol Mix

Hi, I use Castrol TTS at 80:1 on a Beta Rev 3 250, so far so good. I was running it at 50:1 like my enduro bike to keep refueling simple but I was running low on fuel while practicing and borrowed some at 80:1 and noticed an obvious difference in power/response. I guess that if you run more oil than recommended you should change the jetting. Good luck!
  11. Hi Again, Fitted carb last night after cleaning and adjusting the float level. I thought that I'd start it up and check how it's running before I fit the new stator and CDI. Shocking! It now runs perefectly. It pulls like a train in high gears. Running symptoms were pinking/detonating/4 stroking/missfire when under load. It sounded horrible and would not pull cleanly. It was worst in higher gears. A 125cc would pull away from me on a grassy field! If you tried to pull 3rd, 4th gear it would smell hot and the fan would take ages to cool the bike down. I'm going to keep the electrical bits for a week and trial the bike this weekend just to see if the corrected bike is a temporary thing? I've been chasing this around for 8 months! The only changes to the bike from the last time it ran poorely are; -Set float level almost horizontal. I left it slightly elevated. It was 15 degrees elevated. Was the engine starved of fuel? -Completely disassembled the carb and used air to blow out all passages. -I have run a petrol that had a little bio fuel in it. This bio additive can become thick like jell with time. Was this blocking jets? -While i was fitting the carb to the bike I noticed that the head side jubilee clip was not sitting at the same angle with the carb. It took a little careful effort to make sure it was parallel to the carb face. Was this introducing an air leak? I should try to reintroduce the problem but I think I'll compete this weekend to try and get some enjoyment out of it first. Good luck!
  12. Hi, I have a 2002 250cc Beta Rev 3 with similiar running problems. Stator and CDI faults have the same resulting missfire when broken. I have just recieved parts from Lampkins to try. I'll let you know what happens!
  13. Hi, I replaced the main crank bearings on my 2002 Beta Rev 3. I purchased the bearings from the main UK importers Lampkins. I do not remember the make but was surprised when they arrived because they were sealed bearings.
  14. Hi, Stator could be breaking down with increase in engine temperature. I also have a 2002 Beta Rev 3 250 and my stator problem caused the bike to cut out after about 3/4 of an hour running. It would restart after cooling down. I had it rewound but then it wouldn't rev (problem with high speed trigger) so I bought a new one from Lampkins. I am very interested in you're problem as mine runs poorely under load. It sounds like it's 4 stroking or pinking and doesn't pull cleanly. I've tried everything and would now like to find someone with a similiar bike to swap things over. I've replaced the stator, coil, HT lead, plug, rebuilt the carb, flywheel, new main bearings, and a new piston. I've tried replacement CDI, stator, and coil just incase one of the new items was faulty. I live in Northamptonshire, Nr Banbury. Anyone got any ideas?
