  1. Thanks Marky, I have already taken account of the rims (being chrome steel) that rechroming and spoking while i'm at it, so buying new gold anodised alloy rims and respoking would be a similar cost to the proper restoration of the originals.
  2. Following all the recent TLR discussions, I 've been thinking?? I'm at a crossroads? I have this TLR200 Reflex, which has done 6000 road miles and has been imported from California. It's never been off-road and is in great condition, mechanically and cosmetically, however I was going to carry out a concours restoration of it this Spring, which would involve a stripdown and repaint (tank has some dents and frame paint has worn away at footrests) Restoring bikes for classic shows is also a hobby, which I enjoy and I already have all the new genuine Honda plastics and parts to complete the job. It's registered and MOT'd and I ride it on the road in summer. I've had the bike for 3 years already and it cost me
  3. Any chance of a close-up picture of that sticker as needless to say mine has long gone and no-one has any now. I can get one made from a copy Email or PM me Woody, with your email and I'll send you a copy, which is already scanned into the computer
  4. Currently my bke is fitted with 4.5 inch Domino Bars with brace and I think I'm going to find them too low (I'm 6'1" and 15.5 stone). 20 years ago I seem to remember we all had 6" Renthals...........with no cross-brace and they were strong enough then........are they still available without a brace??...........I've only seen 6" Renthals with a brace
  5. Thanks guys for your advice.......... The bike is definitely a 175, not a 200 and the the build date/model has been confirmed by John Shirt, plus I've had the head off to check the bore size. The comment about the forks were really to do with them feeling soggy compared to another standard TY175 I also own.The Godden frame headstock uses taper roller bearings like the TY250 mono's and not ballrace, so conversion should be no problem, however I prefer to stick to the originals if possible. I have another better forkbrace/mudguard holder, since these pics. The brakes work very well and have new shoes and the linings are in A1 condition. I will strip the forks down and renew the springs with NOS ones I have already. Then experiment with different grade oil. Rims aren't tubeless, Woody although the pics are deceptive and I did buy it about 2-3 years ago from the Derbyshire Peak District area...........so you are probably correct. The bike looks like it hasn't done much work and everything looks pretty original (with the exception of rims/bars/levers). The Alloy Majesty tank is in A1 condition, with the original plastic retainer, plus it has right Majesty oil pump cover,Seat and Brake torque arms and came with original Gas Girlings, plus the Heatshield has the original Majesty sticker on it ....... So I think I'll take her out in 2005 and give a whirl to see if I get on. The bike's now registered on an age related 1982 plate, so I can do a few road trials as well, if the need arises. If I need more power then I can see Craig Mawlem for a 200 kit and also upgrade the ignition to electronic. Finally what are they worth now in 2004...........can't see them depreciating now much after 20 years, are they worth 4 figure sums??? Another pic to whet your appetites
  6. A bit of advice or your views needed I have a 1982 Godden framed Majesty 175, which I fancy riding in a Twinshock classes at club Trials and maybe progressing further if I like it or my results are good enough. The bike is mechanically very sound and everything works fine, with all maintenance up to date with everything replaced as necessary. I've never trialled it, just ridden a few times at a practice ground. Cosmetically it's pretty good also with all the correct Majesty modifications and parts, the wheels were already respoked and fitted with new rims, plus IRC tubed tyres. It has a SM chromed front pipe (which some say produces more torque.......does it?) and new Falcon gas shocks. Can I improve the forks..........they seem a bit weedy !!! Maybe fit TY250 twinshock forks and yokes or a TY250 mono front end. Would the swap be worth it? Will it have enough power for an adult 15 st frame? I'm sure I will enjoy riding it in a few events............but am I looking at through 'rose-coloured' specs? I have a TLR200 also.............should I concentrate my efforts on riding/improving this and thus consign the Majesty to the back of the garage as a historical relic, only to ride for pleasure occasionally at the practice ground.
  7. How much for the tanks?
  8. TBM is a UK publication and is widely known in Trail Riding and Enduro circles. The editorial have Trials bikes as training/playbikes to keep fit on and run a GASGAS and Montesa 315R, hence the comparative test. They do have features on Trials like SSDT/Scott etc and it's a great publication. Stands for Trail Bike magazine
  9. ' What we are seeing with twinshock prices are the same pattern that Pre65's experienced a few years ago, they are all increasing in value as the bikes become more collectable and difficult to find.' My thoughts exactly, Martin I'm glad that I've got a TLR200 Reflex, Majesty and mint TY175 in my stable then...........could be 'money in the bank' for the future.

Looking at eBay and T & MX , it's apparent that anything that resembles a TLR is making 4 figure sums, for any old dog of a bike. Scabby TLR200's are making
  11. johnnyboxer replied to marky g's topic in Twinshock
TY175's Try John Cane @ Trail & Trials for TY spares or Caig Mawlam @ Majesty Moto if you want to trick it up with some Majesty bits. Sammy Miller/Hirsts/Gordon Farley do most things. All advertise in T&MX. However most Yamaha dealers still stock engine & cycle parts and will order direct from Yamaha. Somebody has started making new rear mudguards and he sells on ebay for
  12. What's the difference between the BR6ES and BPR6ES. Looked in the NGK book and it states the P is for a protruding electrode. Does it make that much difference? Would a BR6EIX Iridium plug or a BPR6EIX be better, with the protruding electrode. Is an Iridium plug that much better? Can anybody post a pic of a NGK plug with and without a 'protruding' electrode
  13. How about a small square or oblong nylon resin block in the offending area. Stronger than rubber, but with a bit of 'give'............
  14. Did you have to seal yours externally then?
  15. Can't you just strip the paint off and leave it unpainted. My guess is that they're not supposed to be painted at all. Mine is unpainted and when I put a sticker on, it fell off after 2 days, just sat in garage................nothing will stick to the plastic. I reckon the tanks are porous to petrol vapour and won't stand painting. Same technology as the first plastic tanks that were used on dirt bikes in the 70/80's............I guess.
  16. Honda RTL? Honda TLR? CCM 4T? Honda TL125? Honda TL250? Honda TL200E Seeley? and any Pre 65 machines
  17. Want to know any more about the 'as new' 125 Sherpa.......BJ or not?
  18. Big John I know of a bike shop with a Red Sherpa 125 which has never been used (guess it must be 1979 or before) Saw it again last week on display...........but reckon it might be for sale. Same as in pic complete with all lights and 'showroom condition'. Send me a PM, if you want more details
  19. If you're anywhere near Scarborough, it's well worth joining the SDMC (http://www.scarboroughdmc.co.uk). Membership gets you unlimited (except when there's a trial or motocross on) access to the club-owned Low North Camp - a massive area of hills, woods, rocks and rivers - trials heaven! The Eboracum club based in York also put on excellent events, mostly in the Rosedale area but I don't think that they have their own practise area. I believe that there's also a trials practise area somewhere near Darlington, but I've never been and I'm not sure where it is - maybe some other North Yorkies/Clevelanders can help out here? It's always worth befriending a local farmer, especially if they've got lots of woodland and/or streams! Thanks Neon........... I use the Croft practice area near Darlington, which is linked to White Bros. However I'm tempted by Scarborough..........but it's over 45 miles each way to get there. Is it really good @ Low North Park..............worth making a day of it What are Scarboro's trials like ..............hard, inter or able to cater for a novice/beginner like me (is the Clubman route relatively ok) Fancy a Scarboro Trial..........but don't want to get over-faced
  20. Where do you guys Practice in North Yorkshire? Any new venues or are they private ? Have been to Croft Woods a few times.........but that's all. Anywhere you can suggest? Anywhere linked to a club? Send me a PM if you don't want to divulge in an open forum

Just leave your old tank with the tap in it and ring Sandifords and buy a new tap and bolts for your new tank................ It's probably less than
