If it was as easy as not putting your feet down, and we all did it (not putting a foot down) no-one would have a problem getting over any obstacle and we'd all be pretty good trials riders, eh?
The reply I found amusing was like asking for tips on how to water ski and getting told to not fall in the water.

I know there are very few wires on a trials bike, but whip the tank cover off and check all the connections you can. Again, costs nothing but a bit of time, and eliminates a loose wire. (on a road bike I fitted a lead to trickle charge the battery and the terminal bolt was not done up properly and caused a very peculiar and irregular miss fire and occasional non start).
check the rubber connectors on the carb -to airbox and to engine- are seated fine and not perished.
I had an MX bike that was a bugger to start (250 2T), but once warm was fine all day - I put that down to a worn barrel and cracked shoulder on the piston when I pulled it apart and sorted it.

is this easy to find? signposted etc? I may pop down for a gander as my back is a bit iffy at the moment.
Are solo's of any caliber trialing too?

I have a shameful secret - nah !!! I was at a loss what to do with old gearbox oil, so I put it in an oil squirt can and apply this to the chain (top and bottom) and rub in with a toothbrush, then wipe off the excess with a rag. I've always been of the opinion that offroad the muck will cling to anything sticky on the chain.

from a more synical (sp?) point of view - the more oil you use the more product you will have to buy, and the safer you will feel about your engine wear.
as far as I'm aware, and that's not a lot, if most of us are using 70:1 or thereabouts and motors are not holing pistons or need the kind of attention a race bike engine needs then that's gotta be ok?

I gotta try and remember them before I go out next and have a go. the trainer makes it look straightforward. however I'm not sure I'm competant at balancing yet, so better do a search for some techniques for that too.

I once owned an ex John Deacon XR600R - or so the fella I bought it off said. It did have a John Deacon silencer on it.

just got a beta 270 after owning a tyz250 a few years ago when last doing trials. the fella I bought it from said it has a quick action throttle - that should be fun! if I get a chance I'm going to take it to my mate's farm this weekend or next to see how it goes before crashing into things at a trial.
When I was younger and had more money went straight into mx on a 250 smoker. you cannot believe how hard that was to hang onto having no offroad experience.

fair play, looked impressive, espesh on a trial bike. freestyle mx nutters have 13" of suspension to soak up stuff like that. for going big Pastrana is still the man to beat - check out his nitro circus clowning around.
always considered trials to be more about nerve and skill rather than leaving your brain in the van!!! haha!!
