I am leaning towards an airleak but instead of WD40 try carbcleaner higher flash point or put a rubber hose on a propane torch end and turn it on slowly this works great looking for vacuum leaks on modern cars.
good luck

You want the valves to rotate ths prevents hotspots from forming and spreads the wear out around the valve seat. Big diesels use valve rotators to achieve this because they don't rev high enough to cause it naturally
Food for thought

Thanks Jon, I know all about the Zoke oil heights there mountain bike line of forks have been set that way since the late 90s. 160mm+ or - 2mm as per spec. Well I am going to give it a try. I have done some research and it looks like the mobile 1 ATF is use alot by other riders in enduros. I will update after acouple of rides.

Hey Guys
I am changing the oil on my 2008 txt 250
I am very familiar with rebuilding Marz on mountain bikes and the principles are very similar.
My question is oil type, more specific can I sub ATF for fork oil. It comes down to a cost thing ATF is like $4-5/L where fork oil is 15-20$/L
Thanks Guys

You guys forgot one thing after washing bike flash it up and let it run until the fan comes on.

Heres my question to you if the o-rings fail in the slave piston and silicone goes into the case wont it contaminate the friction plates making them useless. But since the mineral oil is very similar to ATF if it were to leak then it is less of a problem. I agree check the finger height it should be closer to 19mm and also move your clutch lever closer to the center giving your finger more travel.

Ok lets throw another plug in to the mix
How about those E3 plugs has any one tried one?

An added insurance is put alittle never seize on the out bearing surface before putting it in and this will make removal easier next time. I also pack in between the bearings with grease to keep water out of the hub
Good luck

seen one in person Gasgas Pacific brought one in. It is a beautiful bike but I do see some flaws to get at the fuel pump you have to remove the motor, the rear brake resy is verticaly mounted will be a bugger to fill/bleed. the rear caliper has a weird bracket casted to it that hangs out and looks like it will catch things, and lastly the rear fender feels very rigid and snappy

At work when fresh engine is finished we also wrap plastic film around it after giving it a lite spray of oil.

It depends on what type of mix oil you use, synthetic oil mix 80:1 if you are using standard mix oil mix 60:1

Hello
I use Amsoil super shift ATF, its a bit pricier at $14.99 but you get two changes to a bottle. It only takes 450ml for a change and do it about every 10 to 15 hours of riding unless it get contaminated. you can also use Acdelco dextron III a bit cheaper.
Hope this helps

The choke is on for about 5 to 10 secs max then I shut it off turn the idle up about 1/3 a turn and leave it until the fan spins

I think once direct high pressure injection is widely used, and they produce a 2 stroke that requires no mix you will see the end of the 4 stroke.\
I believe it is right around the corner

Well I am glad to here I am not the only one. I do let the bike warm up completely everytime. 0.0015 to 0.002" is very tight most of the diesels I rebuild run from the tightest 0.003" right out to 0.006". When I mic a cummins M11 crank we wash it first in a hot water cleaner and then I have to let it cool down over night cause it will grow 0.004" when it is hot.
Anyways thanks for the reply

just curious if any one has had a cold lock up.
Loaded the bike outside temp wasabout -3C drove about 20 min and unloaded the bike. Went to kick the bike over and it was frozen like a seized motor. Removed the spark plug thinking it might be full of coolant but nothing. My riding partner then mentioned he had a propane torch after I mentioned it might be a cold lock up. After slowly heating the cylinder on all sides I started rocking the bike and slowly the piston started to move and then was free up completely. Reinserted the spark plug and first kick she flashed to life, let it idle until fan kick on and rode it all day with no problems.
I thought I would just share my story

I use this

Apply it after the washing the bike, allow it to sit over night, then wipe it off just before ride. Super slick
Good luck

I have a riding partner and we travel around to all sorts of spots. I would love to ride with some more locals, I have to be a little honest I am a bit nervous about riding with upper level people because I am relearning everything.
I will give it ago maybe next weekend we could set something up, let me know

Hello everyone
I am returning to the sport, I purchase a gasgas 2008 txt pro. I am not a comp rider just a tech trail rider.
I learned on a dual springer ty 175, then a Pinky ty, followed by a 13 year break.
I am hoping to learn from you guys, and maybe pass on some info. My career choice is a transport mechanic, so working on these small machines is really quite fun and simple.
Thanks in advance
