  3. My friend put a set of ty250 twinshock forks and yokes on his whitehawk they a great improvement
  4. All I was trying to say is that its what works for you there is no right or wrong as long as your happy, as I said a matter of opinion.
  5. Well thats a matter of opinion surely
  6. I use synthetic 2 stroke oil at a ratio of 50:1 in my sons ty175 and my bikes and have had no problems, The manufacture with say something like 20:1. This was ok back in the day, but oils have come a long way since 30 years ago, so 50:1 is fine. Some people use 70:1 or even 100:1, but I personally stick with 50:1 If your interested here are some of the things you can do to it. The best things that we did are, fit the Miller footrest kit, drop the forks so they are flush with top of the yokes, fit 14" shocks and a set of 5.5 or 6" Renthal bars, If you do this then it transforms the riding position and the handling. If you have deep pockets you could always add :- Miller seat tank unit full Wes exhuast decent tyres open up the air box a little electronic ignition 200cc conversion the list goes on and on
  7. Cheers Lee, I was beginning to think that Id asked a really stupid question.
  8. I have had a 200 with rear kick start in my garage for years and have decided to restore it, I was wondering if there are any useful modifications that you can recommend, so I can build them into the restoration. Thanks Mark

    Ebay Usa

    Have you seen this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/74-Yamaha-T...emZ290265913968
  10. This is for Woody, I noticed that you bought one of the side stands off ebay, I bought one as well but when it came it has rather a strange bend and the nipple that holds the spring seems to be on the wrong side. I just wondered if yours was ok or if you know if this is correct. cheers
  11. I dont know if the increase is across the board but I do know that there is 20% on parts
  12. Hi just thought Id let you all know that from the 1st September Yamaha have put up their prices by 20% . Must be the credit crunch ?

    Ty175

If you look into the airbox you will see that the outlet is restricted by the seating for the air filter, we removed the bottom and top seating and and threw away the filter, we also drilled a few holes in the lid then covered the opening on top of the box with filter foam and screwed the lid back on. This was something that has been done on the 250 for a while. The pilot jet was increased by 5. I cant remember if it was from 25-30 or 30-35 its been a while

    Ty175

I rode a TY175 at Kendal this year and my son had one for a while. The best things that we did are, fit the Miller footrest kit, drop the forks so they are flush with top of the yokes, fit 14" shocks and a set of 5.5 or 6" Renthal bars, If you do this then it transforms the riding position and the handling. If you have deep pockets you could always add :- Miller seat tank unit full Wes exhuast decent tyres open up the air box a little electronic ignition 200cc conversion the list goes on and on
  15. If this is the same bike, which it looks like to me, (there cant be to many others with blue wheels and a WES exhaust that has been modified and aTY tank ). It is an origional Godden framed bike that was bought by a friend of mine and sold to a guy that lives not far from us. The guy that bought it had the wheels annodised and shortened he silencer so it could be fitted without the need for a bracket to be made up. He had the fork yolks bored out to take set of 40mm forks off a mono ( yes thats right 40mm) the last time I saw it also had aTY250 tank as the origional was a bit of a mess. As far as to how much its worth, then surely its worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, hence
  16. I cant find it have you got the item number or a link
  17. Seems this wasnt the only cheat at the trial on Saturday, there was a guy riding a JH Cub in the two stroke easy route who also went round clean. If you looked in the program the guy had entered on a Bantam. I think this was the same Cub that won the twinshock class last year. Surely it should have been entered in the British specials class this year and last.
  18. I agree a great day even though I retired with ignition problems, turned out to be the condensor, but still had a good time. Thanks to all that offered help when I broke down.
  19. I didnt get any confirmation last year either, some of the guys near me have had their cheques returned so Im pressuming Ive got an entry. Ill be riding a TY175 borrowed off a good friend of mine, as Ive sold the Bultaco I rode last year and the Majesty is still not ready, so it should be quite interesting. Mind you the way I ride it wont make that much difference.
  20. Ring John Cane at Trail and Trials UK he may have some lying around, he will be able to supply most things for the bike if they are still available 0845 108 1167 or www.tytrials.co.uk
  21. I got an entry I think, they have cashed my cheque. Most of the guys I rode the event with last year have been rejected.
  22. Does anyone know of any other rear wheel spindle that will fit a godden swing arm, as the Yamaha TY250 spindle is smaller that the slot in the swing arm and has to be bushed to fit the slot as per TY250. The bushes on my bike are knackered and are no longer available from Yamaha. I believe that there is a more modern alternative, bit cant find out what. Thanks in advance. Ps I want to use the origional ty wheel and hub.
  23. There is the Kendal Classic MCC anual nostalgia trials and scramble held on the wekend 16-17/08/08 there is a trial on Saturday and a scramble on Sunday. It is quite a big event and is usually well supported regs are available know, see the AMCA web site and find the link to the club
  24. Try John at Trail and Trials uk Im sure he had a new rim a while ago
  25. I have put Hebo footrests on mine, I had to file the footrest to fit into the frame mount, but they work and look ok. Not cheap though about
