Is there an obvious external way of telling apart a 250 from a 270 engine? apart from the owners word! Maybe serial# or markings?
cheers S.M.

I am contemplating a rev3 as my 1 and only modern bike! just to see what i am missing using an old honda/fantic.....
i am looking at say 2000year up to a 2003 .any pros or cons from this narrow span?
what about 250 versus 270 ??? anything else i should know or be aware of?
thanks S.M.

i just bought 2 front and 2 rears from them, very reasonable.

Thanks guys for all the info, i did indeed go look at the one locally, what an effing waste of time ,an absolute wreck of a totally hashed together undateable piece of tat....the seller typified an outsiders "image" of a dour tight scotsman , although i can assure anyone that he isnt typical of most of us!!
i will keep looking.

Excuse my total ignorance of Yams! I may have a look at a pinky thats for sale locally.
Can anyone tell me how to date the bike, i dont think seller has a clue, maybe frame numbers or the like?
Did pinkys ever have discs as standard? if so from what year? (this one doesnt)
thanks S.M.

Well, 2 of my mates bought shercos not much before xmas. But to be honest thats the last time i had any dealings with them. I will call on monday to see, as they actually have a front wheel off my 348 cota for respoking. In fact they have had it for a year!

Grib, My original carb off the 240 doesnt have that groove either.
S.M.

Did anyone ever decide on an excact colour match for the 240 frame colour? If so what did you use?
cheers s.m.
-
Hi Grib, i have just fitted my new carb, but never even noticed this groove, i will look tomorow and compare new and old...
S.M.
-
And in my opinion rightly so. Lets face it any trials bike from say 1989 and before that has survived until now deserves to have a decent value..

New carb fitted and bike seems spot on. In fact sounded so good i whipped off the swinging arm to overhaul the needle roller and seals! oh and brakes and cables and ...ah well all needing done anyways.

Yep, and so was my own post...
-
How excactly is it a stupid price???? The things almost like new..
-
Do they fit easily on standard RTL frame lugs?
cheers.
-
Has anyone fitted any modern footrests to an RTL250.? Or can anyone recommend a set? I dont want to modify the mounts just fit a good set.
cheers S.M.
-
my 240 clutch seems to need a pretty good pull on the lever to operate it, not having another to compare to, is this normal fare on a 240? or can something be done to make the clutch lighter to use at the lever?
Although its not as bad as the 348 cota.!!!
cheers S.M.

Thanks for the input guys. outcome would appear to be general wear on a few carb components, so have went the route of starting fresh with a new carb from eurocarb. I will post the result once fitted..

hey alan, anyone ever told you that you'd make a good used car salesman?
Then again, maybe you sound just a wee bit TOO honest!!
