  1. I know mean, if it is the same as mine it is a machined block of steel with a cut out for the chain to sit in, the pin is pushed out by a bolt. You used to get them from www.dirtbikestore.co.uk but they don't seem to sell them now. If it was for a specific trial (i.e SSDT) I'd be happy to lend you mine, or even if you knew a steel workers etc you could get it copied?
  2. Don't think it would any difference at all; it's a mindset that the (British) public have. Do you think if you turned up with a trailer full of electric bikes to ask a land owner if you could use his land he would look at them and say of course you can, they're electric bikes, no problem at all. It's just not going to happen. There's too much legislation these days, and many people are selfish. What I do find interesting though is the explosion of mountain biking. How are these guy's finding places to ride where as we can't, don't they cause a similar amount of damage? Granted we stray of a track to get to the section but generally a lap of the land will leave just one track.
  3. Is that what you thought when you where heading off down the road to Mallaig?
  4. Grahmam Jarvis and young Browny got to be in the running!
  5. The 'Not For Highway Use' stamp is for countries where the tyre is illegal, the UK is not one of them (i.e it's legal in the UK), I believe they are illegal on the road in the US but don't quote me on that.
  6. I'm with Overthhill, it's a tough trial but remember when the prototype Scorpa 125/175's (or what ever size they were!) entered in 03? Did anyone expect them to finish let alone do as well as they did? Another point, look at how many far eastern companies have copied western cars when they first started off, now they are all well established brands on the car market. Why shouldn't they enter and do well? I've heard all the arguments about them being copies but they here so lets move on. Good luck to them!

    Observing.

It's all cool, my alarm goes of at 5.30 for works anyway, although to be honest since my son Gregor was born that's a lie in!

Thanks HL and BF, the answer I was looking for. Enjoying it "down south" although it is a little flat! Plenty of trials, mostly in quarries. Will you be in Ft William John?

    Observing.

I have a bike and hope to be observe at the futhest sections possible! So how do the observers get there? Do they ride all the way or park up close by?

    Observing.

I hope to observe for a few days this year, has anyone done it it before? What can I expect and how do the observers get out to the far away sections? Do they ride the whole way, follow the road or take a van and park up close by?
  13. I set my Sky+ to record it, it's been sat in the planner for a week or so. Noticed last night it (in the planner) had changed to some other sport! Eurosport is so unrealible with it's listings!
  14. 5-6 hours Sounds about right to me, you forget, the traffic in the south is horrendous. Also, I bet you can pick up the M6 and not hit traffic until Manchester.

The tyres are legal in the UK, the writing on them is for the US. You can buy a cheap horn/buzzer somewhere, think it may be battery powered, I'm sure someone on here will have a phone number. You're right about the lights, don't need them. You may need a speedo though.
  16. damonb, That won't work on a UK tow bar as we don't have the square section protruding from the car. Don't bother removing your fender, use a strap like this one and fasten through to your wheel with a twist in between the wheel and fender.
  17. Just read all about Tony Down's rides in the SSDT on his blog. Well worth the read! Not sure if this is the right place to put this post as there is so much to read about on his blog it could go pretty much anywhere, but as it was the SSDT that drew me too it I thought I'd let you know about it here. I really enjoyed reading his account, get over there and have a read yourselves!
  18. That is a good size but I have to say there a a couple of hills on the SSDT that put that to shame. One on Thursday at Glencoe and the other on Saturday somewhere, can't remember where but it's a bugger!
  19. New car on the way, Golf Mk V, has anyone used a rack? Just wondering if the towbar comes up high enough to bring the rack away from the bumper (as the bumper is quite big) so that the bike sits away from the back of the car. Also, I use a bit of flat rope out of the boot of my Vectra that I tye around the forks to pull the bike in close to the car, is there scope to do this on a Golf?
