Evil Plot To Convert The World To Trials Riding
Montesa 315R is one of the most reliable bikes out there. And easy to ride also.

Gas Gas Sprocket Set Up?
10/42 on my 280 was slow enough for me and traction couldn't be better i.m.o. If you go too slow you might lose traction and throttle control as it becomes too jerky at very low speeds.

Nope, you didn't convince me, sorry.

Adding a drain screw isn't going to put them out of business. Maybe it's mostly bad management that drove GasGas for instance, in debt.

4Rt Running In?
I hope you are so honest to tell whoever buys your bikes when you're done with it, that you didn't follow proper running in procedure. I sure as hell don't want to buy such a second hand bike. Unless you can convince me you know better than the manufacturer.

4Rt Running In?
This is from the old manual: 'Break-In Procedure New Motorcycle Following proper break-in procedure helps ensure that the most important and expensive components on your new motorcycle will provide maximum performance and service life. (Also follow proper break-in procedure for a newly rebuilt engine.) When riding a new motorcycle, operate the motorcycle for the first 20 minutes using not more than half throttle and shifting gears so that the engine does not lug:' I plan to take a bit more time, a few hours maybe, and gradually increase the load, when my new one is delivered.

Trellis frame looks like a Ducati frame. To make the frame light, the walls of the tubes have to be very thin, wich makes the welding even more difficult than for instance on a GasGas I for one am curious...

Why Aren't Toni Bou & Dougie Lampkin More Popular ?
I don't think the comparison of Bou with Danny is completely fair. Bou's first "duty" is the trials world championship and if I was in his place, I wouldn't jeopardize that either for a cool spectacular and maybe unnecessary dangerous promo film. By the way, many top riders do appear in City Trials which is also a way of promotion. (I work in the nuclear industry, and from time to time have to do some very dangerous interventions. But you won't catch me roaming Europe in my spare time, to do the same stuff just to promote my job.) As far as I'm aware, Danny doesn't ride in any (bike) trial championship, so he's got more time and can take more risks, because the fims of Danny are most likely are a major source of income for him. The first ones to promote the sport should be F.I.M. and the national federations and also the local federations. It's in their statutes if I'm not mistaken. I have complained on the F.I.M. Youtube channel that it's a shame that their films are only about 2 minutes of which 1 minute is in- and outro, when they've been filming all day. But I'm no professional film producer, so who am I to complain? That said, I liked the Top Gear film of dougie racing against two parcours runners in the BBC building, but maybe Bou has done something similar on Spanish tv, I don't know. And I agree bou's "crappy Nokia" films leave much to be desired. I seem to be one of the few that can enjoy trial (bicycle, motorcycle, 4X4 and trucks) films, from modern riders to the very old stuff. But I also like really spectacular down hill, enduro and freeride stuff.

Gaerne Boots
One important thing in trials is the sometimes very delicate use of the rear brake. You won't be able to do that with MX boots. You also need much more liberty of movement while standing on the pegs, which again is limited by MX boots. I even notice a differnce when I use my Gearne or my AlpineStars trials boots, the Gearnes are more flexible and give me a better feel of what the bike is doing etc... One thing could be improved on the Gearnes: The buckles don't close firm enough.

4Rt Fuel Consumption
I saw this film on the Honda Spain website, where at 2:25 Amós Bilbao criticizes the fuel capacity for trials over a greater distance. And that's why I was searching for a handy solution to that problem and stumbled op on the H&D kit. Maybe that's why Montesa delivers the seat, with storage room for extra fuel, for free with the standard 4RT. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeKo7GcRP10

4Rt Fuel Consumption
The new fuel tank only holds 1,9 liters, not much to get around. And a 280 kit won't make it more economical I'm afraid. I might get me the DDM "large" fuel tank kit from H&D Racing for my 2015.

Why Aren't Toni Bou & Dougie Lampkin More Popular ?
Making the sport more spectacular just to make it more popular might have the opposite effect. You might loose (a lot) contenders. Leave the real dangerous stuff to the stuntmen. Also, it's not because some trials riders are bored because they've seen it al, a hundred times ore more, the general public thinks the same. Some will en some won't, like in a lot of other sports.

Non Running Raga?
I would first replace the plug with a new one.

Why Aren't Toni Bou & Dougie Lampkin More Popular ?
If the video showed the entire ride, I would watch it again. It might have gotten so much views because people were expecting more (action).
-
Why Aren't Toni Bou & Dougie Lampkin More Popular ?
26.5 million views and boring as hell.

2001 315-R
With all due respect dadof2, but isn't that a bit over cautious? I'm sure you don't have the intention to scare people unnecessary. One could also ride in a car with the airbag already inflated because it might fail in an accident. I think it's more important to do regular checks of the fluids, decent maintenance and ride a trials bike the way it's designed for.

Pronounced Ohhhsa Or Ahhhsa?
Thanks Biff, that's mighty friendly of you there son. Don't know if the company still exists, the lawnmower is over 40 years old if I'm not mistaken. A legacy of my late grandfather.

I agree, but it depends who you're asking I'm afraid.
