Agreed thats what caused my problems, bad advice from
the dealer i bought it from, i spoke to Nigel Birkett
and he arranged for me to take it to a more qlued up
dealer and i wont be going anywhere else. map 12
is also a slightly better map, seems to run cleaner
rev more and tick over a bit faster.

Mine was doing that after running ok for 1 or 2 hours
it wouldnt start, i would then change the plug and it
would fire into life. i took it back to my dealer
where he backed off the mixture and reset the
throttle position sensor and its been fine ever
since "touch wood".

i hope its as good as it looks, as thats the only
down side to mine, its a bit of a bugger to start
from cold, just dont think ive got the knack yet.
its been fantastic today in the snow and ice, its
gripped for england

thanks for the info everybody, i will get it sorted
and keep an eye on it

No theres only wheel spacers which fit in the bearings and
there both there, did try using a washer but it did the
same, then when i removed the bolt and cam from the brake
side you could see the mark that the spindle had made.
which ment everything is tigtening up to the spindle but
that isnt enough to tighten the wheel in the swinging arm
jsp
-
sorry no, do you think the spindle could have started to
stretch ? its always been hard to stop the brake side snail
cam from spinning when to tried to tighten or loosen the wheel
but with me shortening the spindle its stoped doing that now.
you could see a mark on the back of the snail cam which matched
the wheel spindle, so when it was tight it was like the spindle
was slightly longer than the gap in the swinging arm and it wasnt
tightening the wheel fully. if that makes sense
jsp
-
i ve seen that on facebook i would be very
interested to see how.
Sunlingkau
did you see my latest post in the rear wheel
removal topic ?
jsp
-
had a strange day today
i noticed the snail cam on the brake side wasnt on the
swinging arm stop, tried to tighten up the bolt but still
no better, you could pull the wheel and move it.
i ve now worked out that for some strange reason
the rear wheel spindle is tightening on the
snail cams but that still isnt enough, i ve shortened
the spindle by 2mm and now ever thing seems ok.
but this has got me stumped as to how or
why this has happened. any ideas ?

Use the cheapest out of X11, IRC, or dunlops
as you can get punctures in every tyre. as
i found out after wrecking a 8 week old
xlite in a sharp rockstep 4 punctures in
one outing. dunlops will stay on the rim
even if flat but they are a bitch to change

does that replace the rubber cap ?
will the foam stop water getting in ?
jsp
-
dont mention that one of my riding companions
isnt happy as he went round for 16 and was
pleased we had tied.......then came the results
and hes not a happy camper
jsp
-
good website that fellas thanks for that
jsp
-
is there a gaskit or seal on the clutch casing ?
-
i do seem to struggle aswell, local dealer has told me
to remove the clutch cover next time so its go two
exits. small price to pay for such a good bike in
my eyes
jsp
-
map 12 is awesome runs cleaner revs out and tick over
slightley higer, not one stall today, where on map 11
ive had a few stalls
jsp
-
you can get a breathable foam from beta uk which
i had for my evo, so ive cut that up and fitted it
over the holes in the rubber cap that fits on top
of the filter box, ive also covered the top louvres
in the plastic cover that fits on top with some
breathable roofing felt and it hasnt effected
the performance of the bike, but nothing gets
in, not even water
jsp
-
i know for a fact the C of C was there last night in the dark finishing
off setting out. one good thing about tong is that get a few bikes
through the sections and it sorts them out. no sign of ice when
i rode, went round for 16 on the harder route, and the ossa
on map 12 is AWESOME.
i always think in this country you need to be able to ride
in any conditions so i practice in all conditions.

i took mine in yesterday for remaping and i spoke to the
dealer about i was having problems starting from cold
(about 6-8 kicks) he tried and it fired up in 3. what you
need to do is 2 sloppy kicks and then take the slack out
of the kick start and then jump on it, i tried again last
night when it was cold again and it started 3rd kick, i am
sure i just havent been kick it hard enough. when its hot
its 1 or 2 kicks max
jsp
-
well thats the bike remaped just need to get out on
it now for a ride
jsp
-
got mine booked in for re mapping this week
will let you know how it rides next week
jsp
-
the writing on the wheels isnt on the edge its
up where the spokes come through the rim, a s3
rim tape set would cover the writing but
not ones like these
jsp
-
no i mean a spare wheel for a 2012 bike
jsp
-
Has any one bought a spare wheel for a 2012 ossa and
if so whats the cost likeor can you modify one
to fit ?
jsp
-
would this help with cold starting ?
as thats really the only time mine is
a pig to start, once warmed up it starts
first kick.
very impressed with the bike in general
