  1. The various comments regarding the BTC being out of step with the WTC is a statement of fact. However its not like it is a completely different set of rules, just that one key (and obviously important) rule is different. But it is a difference that everyone is familiar with, that we will all have ridden at one point or another, and is more accessable to more riders, proven by entry numbers last week. Is everyone aware of what the Spanish TC tried for the last couple of years, i.e. using the Open Free method of scoring. Lets be thankful the ACU decision makers didn;t decide to give that one a go!! Can you imagine???!! (I know they have now decided to change back to more standard rules btw)
  2. Any more news yet on the event? Tickets available and dates confirmed etc?

    GG Power Packs

G14GAV: Thats exactly what I normally do. I don't really have time to make adjustments and test it etc. To be honest I love the way it goes at the moment and don't think I need to alter it. It is more than capabale of doing stuff I can't! Just wonder if most of those power packs are aimed at slowing the bike down and taming the power, shouldn't people ride something with less power to start with?? Not sure it happens so much now, but the Gasser 200's were fairly popular a few years ago, and I remember someone commenting that for most 'Clubman' trials you don't need any more. I have had a couple of 250's and didn't get on with the '09 one that much, so went for a 280 this time and found it the ideal compromise in terms of power, can't understand why I didn't get one before. Probably because they had the reputation as being the 'experts' bike, however that is now definately the 300 in my opinion. Cheers for the advise guys.

    GG Power Packs

Just been looking at the GG powerpacks on the website and have a question. I know this is basic for some people, but if you take a tooth off the front sprocket how does it change the gearing. Does it make first more or less usable? On my 280 using 1st gear on a lot of stuff is good, so just interested to hear what the likely effect would be.
  5. Hey Nicos Thanks I might do that next time we are there. We stay in Paralimni on the east side of the Island, maybe too far from you? There looks to be great places to ride trials on the Island, I would love to get out and have a ride!
  6. Ahhhh, Keo! Most refreshing drink avaiable in that heat! I saw that website about trail riding, and I've found a video on You Tube of a guy riding a Gasser, just playing around, but can't find anything about competitions.
  7. Went to Cyprus on holiday this summer and wondered if they had Trials there as a sport. They have rallying, obviously loads of bikes around, I figured surely someone somewhere must do it. Also with the large British influence there over the years I would have thought it's possible. Anyone know anything as next time I'm there I wouldn't mind checking it out, loads of brilliant terrain out there.
  8. If anyone from the Steam Racket is watching I've definitely never had full cans hidden, then had a couple of empty ones near the back door to show them if they look, nope, never ever done that before
  9. Yeah, don't bring cans full of petrol. Empty ones are fine though. Their justification is an additional health and safety risk having lots of extra fuel, even though most of us locals fill up our cars/vans on the back to the ferry. Woody - Thats a shame you got injured, get fit and come back next year! For a small charge you might be able to amend your sailings to next year instead of losing them. Worth a try.
  10. I have a 6 year old who was very lucky at Christmas when Santa delivered him an Oset. This was perfect for him and he soon learned the basics and loved it. He has ridden two trials on it and been out riding various times, and the fact he could ride it by the house was a beauty!!! However, in his case he soon started wanting to move onto a 'proper petrol bike'. So basically after about 6 months he has moved on and was ready for a proper bike. I managed to get him a little Sherco 50cc which he rode in the local two day youth trial last weekend, and which he now loves. He had only had 2 half hour rides on it before this so without the Oset he wouldn't have had the skills and confidence. So I think that if your lad is starting from scratch, the Oset is perfect, but be prepared if he loves it for the progression to happen fairly soon, particularly if he is already a bit older or already quite big on the bike.

    Manx 2 day

Hello all! The answer is yes, at 16 you can ride the Manx Two Day Trial as road traffic laws on the Isle of Man are different to the rest of the UK. In terms of the UK licence being valid, I'm not sure to be honest but if is designates on it clearly that the limit is 50cc, then I feel it is unlikely. A number of riders over the years have obtained an IOM provisional and ridden on L plates to get around the issue. I personally passed both my car and bike tests at 16 . There are many advantages to living on the IOM when it comes to bikes Let me know if you need any more info (PM me). Committee meeting for 2011 trial next Thursday!!!! Cubby
  13. I've had trick bits guards for my gasser and they have been great, no fitting issues and have lasted pretty well.
  14. I have to get one for a 6 year old, so also would appreciate any tips on whats best.
  15. Yeah, but if you had seen that actual place I think the use of language is understandable!! But for any kids reading, swearing is bad ! Also, Steve Colley is one of the people watching and he wasn't sure that jump was on, but it was!!
  16. Nice style in your picture! Welcome and enjoy, I'm sure there is plenty of good advice on here for you, sometimes people are a little shy to respond though so don't be offended if you don't hear much. Good luck and who knows, this might take over from road racing if your previous history is anything to go by!!!

    2011 250 GG

Still want to have a go on a 280 before I make my final decision.
  18. I'm wanting to get one of the new hoody's from jitsie but haven't actually seen them for sale anywhere. Any ideas? Anyone got one?
  19. Yes. I bought one off Steve Colley that he had won on, it was set up new for the scottish, and had a full going over following the event. Best bike I've owned and it was mint.

    2011 Bikes

I know the Raga's have only just appeared but wondering if anyone knows anything about the 2011's yet. Pictures can't be too far away!
  21. Well, what was a certain Mr Colley riding when he won in 1997 and 2000??? I'm sure it was a gasser, especially as when I bought the '97 one off him he told me it had just won the event, but I could be wrong, you know what these dodgy second hand bike salesmen are like he he! COME ON DIBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Anyone know where you can get hold of one of these lovely new helmets???? 'Cause all I need to ride like him is the helmet of course
  23. I heard today on the radio that they are not even going to attempt to clear the mountain road until the week after next!!!! The man from the DOT said at the moment the snow is so deep you can't even tell in a few places where the road is!!!! Apparently the views are lovely Here is a link to the webcams on the mountain Snowy Views
