Nelly you are too quick for me at least we are on the same lines cheers.
-
I have found that if I don't have enough free play in the rear brake lever that after 5 or 10 mins the brake over heats, and binds so bad that as you pull the clutch in to change gear the rear wheel locks up on grass.
-
The Techno at around 80KG is about 15KG or 33lb heavier than most new bikes, it sometimes helps with grip over the rear wheel, I also noticed on a mates new Gas Gas it felt much lighter over the rear wheel when picking it up.
You also may find that due to the design and age of the shock it wont hop as easy as a modern bike.
I found that when I compressed the rear spring to the max to make it hop that it didn't absorb the bumps as well e.g rocky river bed, so I set mine to have about 1 1/2 " to 2" of travel measured from the rear wheel to mudguard, when I got on in riding gear.
I forgot to mention the 250cc 96 Techno shock and a 125cc 97 shock were identical in every other way overall length make etc.
The Techno is a good strong reliable bike with plenty of 2nd hand spares on fleebay etc, and shares some parts with the EVo & Rev 3.
Enjoy.

I have a 250cc 96 Techno shock and a 125cc 97 shock and where the thread starts on the 97 shock it is higher up , so I had to compress the spring to get it on, also the springs were different strengths.
I am sure someone else will chime in about static sag, measuring shock travel with boots helmet on etc, which is how i set my shocks up.
Cheers.

Great video, nice to see what goes on day to day cheers.

Have you undone the bleed screw at the top of the radiator?
-
DVD,s I have watched Dan Thorpe Basic Trials Techniques for beginners, Ryan Young Trials Training Techniques and Cross Training Tools for beginners and more advanced, Ryan Young Advanced Training Techniques for more advanced riders. Also try filming yourself or if possible get a more experienced rider to watch and comment, also watch others.
-
I don't know about Gas Gas or Sherco but Beta Techno chain tensioner is different to beta Rev3
-
I also rate the wulfsport clothing, lasted me a couple of years and still wearing well, trails gear snagged on barbed wire, against rocks etc no tears yet. If you don't like the fitted look they do looser motocross trousers which are thick and warm if very cold.
-
Hi Zippy, what model of vivitar camera did you use, cheers.
-
The nose weight allowed on cars is around 70 kg e.g vw Golf etc large cars and 4x4 are more, as most bikes are around 70 kg or less, you should be ok as long as your trailer in not too nose heavy. I dont know if you are alowed a little more as the rack is bolted behind the tow ball? Google what your nose weight is on your vehicle as some cars are more or less e.g up to 07 mondeo is 70kg!
-
If your bike wont fit into your car, buy yourself a tow bar, and either a trailer or spectacle type carrier, and join a club, or find your local legal pay to ride practice areas. You will be able to practice in your yard to a point e.g slow figure of eights, low speed balance etc. I will repeat what I said earlier in your other thread about the Beta Zero, and what feet up suggested above, buy a newer bike, or you may struggle to source spare parts, as I said earlier I struggled to find base cylinder head gaskets, rear brake lever, on a 1996 Beta Techno, and it had my bike parked up for a couple of months.
-
My personal opinion, is always buy on condition of any used vehicle, rather than age, mileage etc, the big issue, is spare parts for any older bike, in the uk I have struggled to get parts such as rear brake lever, cylinder base gasket either from the main dealer or aftermarket for a newer bike, the model after the Zero, the Beta Techno. To minimise parts availabilty potential problems, buy a popular bike, buy as new as you can e.g Beta Rev 3, later Gas Gas etc and manufacturers who are still in business.
-
From personal experience buying a poorly maintained bike with white oil, see if it uses any water before going to the hassle and expense of changing water pump shaft and seal. Try changing the oil a few times see if it stays clear. The oil can sometimes go white due to condensation, sucking water in the breather pipe if in deep water, and lack of changing oil regularly, have fun.
-
It sounds like the first year of the Rev 3 various parts are interchange from techno and rev 3 gear lever, clutch cover, piston etc, just check with beta uk lampkins 01535 655 970 very helpful free delivery on online orders have fun.
-
Clean as above with jet wash allow to dry at room temperature to stop cracking, then use nikwax every month or two.
-
I rate wulfsport gear, top and trousers over a year old worn every other weekend, snagged on barb wire, brambles, rocks etc not a mark, have neoprene gloves that seem to be lasting too, forma boulder boots o.k, as well just clean and use nikwax every other month
-
I also forgot to mention try polishing the shaft up with emery paper after bearing removal, I found the new bearing went on easy after polishing, if not try as anotherfive suggested, Shaft in freezer overnight and bearing warm.
-
I agree with all the above, you may have tried what I am about to suggest but thought I would mention it anyway, put pleanty of penertrating oil on shaft & bearing, and leave it over night, then use mole grips and try and work loose, I was about to give up after trying for a while, and try a plumbers torch to add heat or dremel etc, when it started to move good luck.
-
Impressive stuff, watch out Danny MacAskill, what could you do on a trials bike with an engine?
-
I agree with guys post, had a Fantic and Beta repaired, get the welder to file a groove in the crack then fill with weld. The Fantic has lasted over 10 years.
