  1. I had a listen via your vid, and it didn't sound any different to mine. So either mine now also has the same issue, and mine is running "sweet as" , or there is nothing wrong with either of them. My thoughts are the latter, don't worry , just ride !!!
  2. Help required please..... I have been offered a complete, but non running TY80 for my son to use. It's not great condition, but once running would be serviceable, and is complete. It was last running a year ago, when the current owner put new piston/ rings in, with new gaskets. He didn't get round to fitting the new throttle cable, condenser or points, but has them to go with the bike. It has good, for an 80, compression, so I am happy that this has been done. My question is, what is it worth, he has asked for a sensible offer/donation. Someone, Somewhere will have the answer.....any useful suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. My JTX270 had plastic.....
  4. How has it seized. Has it left outside and seized thro' rust etc or has it just nipped up while using. If it's while using, then, a new piston kit and hone may work. It depends on whether any bore damage has been done, or if any swathe, small end or rings have dropped down into the mains. How did it happen ?
  5. Try eBay, under trailer or caravan accessories...
  6. The plug will still spark with a weak core or electrodes but when under the cylinder pressure will noy provide sufficient voltage to give an arc able spark. Get a new one and let us know that it started.
  7. I agree with thedbf, the electrodes in the plug or it's core has possibly been damaged, try a new plug......
  8. One of those "Shooting sticks" may be better, the walking stick type thing with the fold out seat as a handle. You"ll have to keep close so see can balance on it, and lean on you, but this shouldn't be a problem, because wives have a habit of leaning on their other halves immediately after the ceremony...LOL The trouble is at a lot of the sections there is limited room, with rocks, trees, foliage and other spectators. The stick may be best, and she can use it to get the the viewing point!
  9. Sammy Miller Products, used to sell a special tool the remove the ring. It was not that expensive. I haven't looked but they may still sell it. Failing that, try In Motion for the tool. The rings are easily damaged and knocking them round with a drift and hammer may not help. Yes you are right, anti clockwise to remove....... There was a rubber gasket behind the header and it did deteriorate causing the header to get loose. Holden's, the importers, used to advise owners of them when they got old to weld a lugg on the header and another to join them to the right hand down tube to keep it in place and then pack the thread with gasket sealant. Hope this helps. Roger Painter also used to do a lot with Ossa's, they may have a tool.
  10. A thing I find intriguing, KTM sponsoring the riding bibs. Are they trying to push the name forward in the trials environment prior to releasing a trials model themselves....... There are Europe's biggest motorcycle manufacturer, so maybe........? Sorry, great vid, thanks.
  11. I have a Teng dealer near to me, so mostly use these. They have a life time guantee as well, and the boxes etc, all have their fitted tray system, so easy to keep together and know where things are. Don't forget Draper Expert as well, not bad tools and fairly inexpensive. If you need a box, try on Gumtree......
  12. There was a fella that used to advertise in the back of Trials and Motorcross News, as The Rotax Man, but I can't remember or find his phone number. Anyone else have it, because he could get anything for a Rotax engine.....and that is what the Aprillia is. Anyone else help with the number.
  13. Go onto the Gas Gas UK site and click the support tab. Then tap on manuals, and find your bike. Most of the manuals have a wiring diagram. Also try YouTube, as there are some Gas Gas fix it videos on there also.
  14. Have you tried/considered ATF. Lots of people on this site use it and it in no way causes any bike impairment, I have used it on previous bikes, the one I have now, I have just got, so when I change the oil over, it will be ATF, as I think it makes a difference to changing and clutch operation....
  15. At your weight and height go 2t and anything from a 200cc upwards would suit you. Look at all the major brands, they all make brilliant 250's, the ossa is technically advanced, the sherco is good, as are the gas gas, beta and jotogas is getting good reviews from owners. New discipline, try a new engine type, go 2t, otherwise you'll always be comparing the two engines and performances, and may not enjoy yourself as much. It is however, your choice, and yours alone, so take your time, and get what you like the look off and what rides well for you.... Enjoy......
  16. Welcome to the most friendly form of Motorsport there is, and although to punish yourself with motor cross, you obviously love it, you'll find trials can be all consuming for your sport time....... Your questions, Age, as I approach 50, I still find myself getting beaten by gents almost 20years older than me, some of these having done what your doing and swapping disciplines and realising that they are good at trials, and competing and being very good... So age, as you have the bike know how and fitness, isn't a problem. Bike. A more complicated decision. Do you like 2 or 4 strokes, if it's 4t then you only really have two options,Beta or Honda. Is you like 2t then you have enormous choice. I would suggest going to watch at a competition, and looking to see what you like and what you don't to narrow it down. Once you have narrowed it down, go to dealers or ask riders and get opinions and, if you can, test rides. Easy from a dealer, but may be more differ cult from riders, but most will help out. Look out for, also, importers try out days. Yes you'll try new models, but a lot of the older models ride similar to the new. Other things to consider, you size, 10 stone and you could get away with a 125 or 200. 18 stone and think 280 or 300. I'm on a 280, so no guessing which way my scales point! Amount to spend. You can get a cracking bike for £2000-, and if it's first bike, I'd limit my spending to this until I'm fully committed. Trials bikes don't loose the same value as motor cross or enduro bikes, so you shouldn't really loose too much. Loads of clubs west London way, Hillingdon and Uxbridge to name one, but you also travel into Hants for Basingstoke and Alton clubs, so loads of choice. Welcome and enjoy, the choice is now yours to make!!!
  17. Yours should hold between 450 and 550ml of oil. If you go on the Gas gas UK website, click on the support tab, this will take you to the library of manuals and parts lists.
  18. Mutley, the answer is yes. Trials is a motorcycle discipline like no other, whereby the rider has to have full control of the machine and make it do what the rider wants by inputting the correct commands. Basically, you get out what you put in, and it's all about bike control. There's no winding it up and hanging on!, well maybe sometimes on an old fashioned graded hill. Clubs round your way, Bridport in west Dorset, Otter Vale in Devon, there are loads, go on the ACU website and you'll find them. The best way to learn is go to a few competitions and the established riders will help, advice and assist you all day long, and you'll leave smiling. As for bikes, forget price, go condition, trials is a cheap sport and you could start with something like a £500- Techno which could serve you well, or get the latest tackle. Get what you like and what you like the feel off when riding....... Welcome to the club, I'm only in Dorset and do a few Bridport trials, so may bump into you, literally.
  19. If your just playing and want a bike to ride and then leave and pick up again in a month or two and ride again, go Scorpa. Bull it proof Yam engine, great fun. If your competing at fun trials, go twinshock class, read non injuring, and get the fantic.....
  20. "First to see will buy" and "you won't find better" are my favourites.....
  21. Is it me? I, like many of us, like to browse on e.bay to see what bikes are on there and what people are paying..... My question is however, do you like me, read some of the descriptions and enter a mild rant state! Comments like "scrambler", "never raced", "not for the faint hearted" and my favourite "very fast" in relation to any trials bike, never seem right. Is it me, have I turned into my father, or has Victor Meldrew moved into my mind... That said, when people say, not taxed and MOT'd about trail bikes as they've only been used on green lanes, has the same effect. Perhaps I should just chill, and ride more.......mind you I can only get 120mph from my TXT Pro 280!!!!!!!
  22. Not sure if still available, but I had a similar issue with a previous bike, and took the back plates of the pads to "Friction Linings" and they put on new braking material having cleaned up the plates first. Cost was about £2- more than off the shelf items.....

    Cuting Out

Definitely a carb issue, electrics are not to effected when the engine is warm, but the fuel/air mix is... Have the carb sonically cleaned and get a new jet kit for it. Is it the dell'orto, if so all parts are available online.....
