  1. I sometimes feel that a £1 surcharge for all riders and then at the end of the trial, the observers get this divvied up surcharge to use would help the situation sometimes. this however may cause the saying Thankyou issue to get worse, which there is no excuse for, as some thick skinned, people without manners, may say Why do they need to say Thankyou as the observers are getting Paid. Basic civilities and politeness cost nothing and reflect as much on the person using them as the message being delivered!

    Model & Year

All chassis numbers are 17 digit. Your plate starts with WFO which is the standard three letters to show it as German Ford. That number is incorrect and over where the stamped in number should be. I do agree, it's likely to be stolen. Lightly drill off the rivets and check for a number. The police will check a number for you, but cannot give you details etc due to data protection but will tell you if it's stolen. At least then you'll know!
  3. Fabulous photos, any of any Holden sponsored Ossa's from previous years. I'm sure Russ Kerridge rode one in 82. It'll take me back to my old 250 ' Golden Jubilee' model!
  4. Defo Gerald Richardson, check the other post, Yamaha help, no 18 was Gerald.
  5. Trouble is, even if we leave the EU, our government will probably implement anyway, as a way to persecute us innocent law abiding motorcyclists. Let's face it , how differ cult is it to get land to ride on, friendly farmers etc are okay, but when NIMBYs get involved and write to their local MP's we are the ones that always suffer. This needs to be fought, by everyone involved in off road sport, from manufacturers, dealers, spares suppliers and us at the end of the food chain, as the riders! Someone quick, give me a petition to sign !
  6. Had a look, as a new to skill rider, try loading the suspension prior to the double blip. I.e. Drop your weight onto the pegs, hard to explain, to compress the suspension, then as the rebound of the suspension comes in, this with the blip assists the lift and you'll only need to put less weight towards the rear of the bike. This way you remain more central on the bike, and thus more in control, rather than back over the rear mudguard. Give it a go and let us know. P.s: welcome to the best off road motorcycle discipline, you'll never look back.
  7. No you don't, because you don't mention the Ossa MAR in the line up!
  8. Don't forget XHG Tigers from Bournemouth, trials at Corfe Mullen, near Wimborne or Ringwood MCC, trials at Ringwood. Both really good clubs & nice friendly club members at both.
  9. If it helps, can of spray paint £5- , see how it looks, if not happy then go for the powder coated option
  10. B&Q, Homebase etc, they all sell gloss barbecue paint. It is heat resistant, unlike hammerite, and doesnt peel or give off a bad odour when first used. BBQ all the way. Hope this helps!
  11. Now let's see him do all this fancy stuff in the pouring rain, with mud on every surface and in visability that he can bearly see in front of him. When he can do that I'll be impressed! In the mean time, I'll stick to the clubman routes content that I can get up a muddy hill smiling all the way!
  12. I feel sure that everything the Guy Martin does, he takes seriously. As a result he will do well, promote the sport, be positive about this and all associated events and most importantly give the sport publicity. Who knows, the return of kickstart, Our Guy as presenter?
  13. Is he bringing a camera crew? Perhaps......"Our Guy in Scotland"! What an excellent way to promote, what is, our excellent sport. It can only further the message and perhaps the image and understanding.
  14. If you've never competed and are starting out, a late Scorpa SY would also suit you. The way the old beamish picked up is much like modern 4 strokes so don't rule one out either. Most riders at your local trials event will happily talk about their bikes and some will let you swing a leg over (their bike only) so this may give you a clue to help also. If it was me, Scorpa SY250F if I could find one, or a 2010/11 Sherco, nice and smooth too.
  15. Surely this is the whole two stroke or four stroke debate. The question is, what have you ridden before. Do you have a preference? The gasser may demand more mantainence, how good are you with spannering? How fit are, are you going to be wanting to do all the hopping etc, or do you think your style will be old style sections, I mean ride them through, not bouncing and hopping to go for the trophies. I'm in my forties, my best fitness days are behind me, I have kids so can't spend hours in the shed tinkering, I want a bike I can ride tidily, hose off, then go to a week or two later and repeat the process, whilst always giving me the smile factor. I'd have the 4RT.
  16. Try a new plug....then tell us it worked........set the gap correctly
  17. Just watched the vid clip. Makes me want to join the ride, fabulous! Good luck, your getting good support from the TRF, who need plugging a lot more, and for a good charity too. Enjoy the ride......
  18. For the grass handles, when I had an outfit for green landing, I used old fan belts from cars etc. they don't get slippery when wet or muddy and don't fray. Cheap as chips as well.
  19. He does for the landings......mind you, I wish I could the bit before he falls, I can do the falling really well, but the bit before........not at my age.
  20. I saw this advertised for sale and can shed a little light on it. It's one of Roger Holden's special bikes. Roger was the Ossa importer in bournemouth, and they used to have a play around with specials. He did a few MAR's, and then TR72's and also converted some Golden Jubilee, orange and yellow Gripper's. There were very good bikes but only used down south. John Reynolds did use one for a time, and I have a picture of Russ Kerridge, a supported Ossa rider on one at the Perce Simon trial at Moyles Court at Ringwood in 1982. Sadly with the demise of Ossa, so went the specials.!

    Milky Oil

If your sure that the rads haven't lost any fluid, check your crank case breathers and see how low they hang. If they hang low, and you've been through deep'ish water then it may have sucked some up into the box. It's not uncommon. You can to stop it again, route your breathers through the air box, by drilling a small hole and feeding the pipes in, then masticking them in. Have a look at the pipes and see if they're wet/dirty. Good luck.
  22. Is it the engine that's noises, or the exhaust note. If it's engine, what type of noise. Rumbling at the bottom, mains!, rattling at the top, little end, let us know. If the exhaust is loud, then re-pack it. Do not ask a bike shop for a new exhaust, they'll be rubbing their hands together each time you walk in ! Re-packing is easy and there's a link to it in the technical section on here, or a video on YouTube from gas gasman.

    Smoky,smoky !

You've blocked a jet when doing the carb and it's choking. This explains the smoke , plug and cutting out. Was she also down on power, and slow to wind up? Get the carb, sonically cleaned and try again. Good luck.
