Ah it mentions on their website it was an AMCA club. That makes sense.
-
I'm fairly sure he got it off Ebay. I've had a search and this looks like the bloke. Note that this is the trailer frame only, it doesn't include suspension, mudguards or wheels at that price, so I think that's where the
-
Yeah - shame it's so far otherwise we could not go to that one instead
-
Oh Bugger?
Cheers for looking Dabster - I'll try and find out and get some details on here. I'd imagine there'll be a few people looking for a trial in our area with Wrexham cancelled.
-
Any of you get TMX on a Thursday? Trying to get details of Clive trial this weekend (20th) to shove on our local website. It wasn't in there last week.
I hear it's on, but can't get hold of venue etc.
Mind you I'm hearing Wrexham Trial is cancelled, so they shouldn't be short of entries.

Paul Sagar just rang - picture 23 definitely him, remembers all the kit, says it's the worst ride he ever had in the Scottish, and his first at age 17. Must have had a long paper round, he looks 30 on there. Having said that , he does look 10 years younger than me now so I'll shut up.
He's in for his 25th ride this year and hoping for his 24th finish, so he's allowed back next year.
One year at a time eh
Is he the only one of the blokes on the photos that is entered this year?
-
He's not in, we'll have to wait. Dropped the photo through, he'll give me a ring.
-
I'll see if i can ask Paul tomorrow, but by rider numbers, I think we can only rule out J Kelly. All the others, depending on what day it was, could have been close to Eddie Lejeune's start time - in photo 24 on number 279, with all the crowd still in the same place.
Admittedly Paul Sagar could have been one of the closest to him depending on number of entries.
So from comments on here, it's either Paul Sagar or A Puckrose by the look of it.
-
Not sure - doesn't look like him. Pauls only about 43 or 44 now isn't he? So would have been about 19 then, unless he's been lying to me. Looks older than that on the photo. If he's in tomorrow I'll nip over, lives across the road.
Mind you, Colin doesn't look like him either, but I can just about picture him in there

I had a Peugeot 306 for years. Bought it nearly new and kept it as a second car until it eventually died. My gut feel is the suspension was too soggy on the 306. The GTI may be harder, I had the XTdi, but Peugeot's/Renaults always give me that soggy feeling
You can buy supports that bolt in between the springs to stop them compressing so much and I think I looked at rubber balls at one time. Don't know how effective either of these are.
I remember carrying about 6 bags of sand in the peugeot and it was scraping the mudflaps.
Have you thought about these trailers which dismantle? My old man's got one that fits in the boot of his car. I seem to remember nearly
-
I suppose sometimes you get lucky. I've got a JVC I bought in Germany in 1990, coming up 18 years old and still going strong.
Even got twin cassettes, do they still sell them?
What a tight 4rse
P.S. Was too busy today, didn't have time for Regina.......
-
This adds some strength to the outcome of a previous thread where it was pointed out that the perception of the Original Sherco chain was very good, which turned out to be a Regina.
The fact that they have the ability to make a chain to the known standards of the Renthal R1 has got to give them some credit. At the time I thought they were a fairly small scale chain manufacturer.
I'm going to contact them and find out which chain they supply to Sherco as standard. Dunno whether they'll tell me but worth a try.

Sounds like I'm making it up now - how many amputees is a bloke likely to know, but I'm sure some of the UK blokes on here will know Howard Bainbridge. I remember flying along a track trying to keep up with him on a bike I'd borrowed from my old man. I hasten to add, the bike wasn't slowing me down, I think mine was a 250 Yam and Howards was a modified BSA, B40 or C15 maybe, it was the fact that the bloke is a nutcase Howard lost most of his leg in a road bike accident years ago (probably 20 years or more now). I'm sure he's got it all more organised now, but I remember it flapping in the breeze as i chased him up a track, then a bit later on, he stopped at a gate and fell flat against the bank, trying to put a leg down that he hadn't got. What a character he is.
-
The Scotland team has much the same view.
I thought your national game was curling these days, or Tossing the caber, haggis throwing, I dunno anything that nobody else does so that you can have a world series that only you compete in. Ah I could be thinking of somebody else there
-
I used to play rugby with a bloke that lost his leg below the knee. You'd honestly never know. For those in the UK, I played for Salisbury for a while and we'd occasionally play a pub team (in fact probably the only pub team I've ever seen that could play a half decent rugby club and not suffer).
One xmas friendly match with them, his prosthetic limb got damaged, and they called the St Johns ambulance across. An oldish bloke and a similar aged lady came strolling over and took a look at the angle of his leg, then straight away beckoned the ambulance to come on the pitch.
One of the lads (I think his brother actually) said he was a doctor and offered to help out, and proceeded to pull his foot off. I just wish I had a camera to record the look on the St Johns ambulance crew's face. One of the funniest things I've ever seen

What are the probabilities of life happening on our planet? If life could happen on our planet, then what are the probabilities that it was the only place that it only ever happened here?
Chances are we may be one of many. And if we weren't the first, then maybe other civilisations are way more advanced than us. We're already creating aircraft that evade radar, only a hundred years after inventing aircraft.
If you're going to use the logic that if we can't prove it, it didn't happen, then half of this planet need to catch up with you and abandon ALL religion.
There's more probability of life on another planet than there is of any God, but billions of people believe the latter.
Off you go Atom/Dabster - we've moved it to religion
-
I was abducted by a UFO once, took me for several hours.........
And if any of you *******s tells my missus otherwise there'll be trouble
-
I use the standard, wedge type ratchet straps. Yep, if you just leave the straps hanging they can work loose, but I normally tie the loose end tight around the strap itself so that the end can't work its way loose.I have a few different types of ratchet but they all survive with this method.
Two straps holding the bars down and a bungee through the back wheel to stop it lifting/bouncing out.
-
Hmmm...not sure he can do it Bo. Pretty sure it has to be by the secretary of an ACU affiliated club, but ya never know, you can always ask.
-
Welcome to the world of trials. If you can stick at it long enough to get yourself going, it's a hard sport to get out of your system. A fair few people have a break at some time in their life, but it's still in there and many come back to it.
One of the friendliest, if not THE friendliest motorsports, and one of the cheaper ones to get in to, although it may not seem like it at times.
These forums are great when you're starting out. If the answer's not already out there ready to be searched for, then it won't be more than a couple of replies away once you shove it up on here for everyone to see.
Good luck chap, see you around.
P.S. Guessing game - where ya from - my two guesses, Salisbury area, Hereford area. Wherever you are there's bound to be something in your area.
-
I've seen whole trials in areas smaller than that hill
Birmingham UK is much the same except flatter with more houses
Nice pics
-
Glad you've risen above it
Agree, yep.
Errrm no not exactly. That's what we've been talking about. The ones who are staying for a laugh will not be staying to pot hunt and will be more than happy ride on a no award basis, we have lots of them with that fair play attitude. I have to say that Atomant is definitely one of them. But there are the odd few (very much a minority) who are happy to have a 10 year "career" on the beginner route and amass as many trophies as they possibly can. Is that sport?
No he's winning because of the lack of any grading system or officials like us who decide he's had his fair share and needs to let some others have the limelight (while still being to ride the same route and have the same fun, and still be able to compare his results with other riders in the "beginner" or "novice" class.
Blame probably not the word, but you can induce a bit of fair play in what should be a FUN class.
Hmmmm...not sure where you've got the crying thing from. Firstly, I ride the expert route, I get beat every week and things aren't likely to change much as I accelerate through my 40's. I don't expect them to and it suits me fine, I've had my trophy's and they gather dust. Secondly, I won't be crying to mummy (COC) because I am the Clerk of Course. If I get in there on the beginner/novice route and knock him off his box there's gonna be some complaints that maybe I'm sandbagging, although without ever being officially graded as expert since my return to trials, maybe under your rules I would be allowed to drop down and have some FUN and trophies too?
No need to answer that, I know it's sarcastic, but I'm putting my view forward with the best of intentions and to cater for problems which we have had in the past (NOT IN MY CLASS - I'm trying to look after the beginner/novice classes). No need for the cry baby stuff really
It's not something new, we're talking ABILITY based classes. When you get to the top of your ability class then you move up (or stay down and ride for FUN). FUN is not a trophy.
Wow - look at all them quotes - what a mess
-
No offence meant, and I'm sure none taken, can I substitute pettiness for sarcasm please
I think we essentially agree, just wording and possibly context.
-
Get well soon Scrappy, bless your little cotton socks
I'm guessing you sat through a few hours of drudgery before the trials came on at 4 o'clock
"I know it's porn dear, but I'm waiting for the trials to come on. If I turn over I'll miss it"
And no I've never watched "Chick Fight" whatever that is
-
In fact I've just voted and therefore seen the results so far and 80% of people seem to have gone with - make them move up.
I suspect that a large percentage of these would have gone for a third option:
Move up or ride on a none award basis.
I suspect that some of the other 20% would go for this too.
Maybe we should re-do the poll with the third option and see how many go for it?
