That's how my 349 is, it was a bit of a struggle to get it on but feels like the right amount of pressure on the bike (I had a new spring with a new kickstart lever from InMotion, the old one was pretty sloppy in comparison)

Mine was cracked both sides (!) ... replaced with thick gussets while my mate was Majesty-fying the frame for me, should be fine now (he also added slim gussets where the old shock mounts were, and a reinforcing strip above the new shock mounts)

Not unreasonable, GGs are good though a 280 is going to be a right handful for a newer rider ... a 250 one would give more gentle power delivery. After 30 years of riding motorbikes (and trail mountain biking, road cycling, etc etc) I got a 125 Gasgas and it was plenty

Thing is, if the chain is covered in mud it'll also be full of water and grit already, with a nice coating to keep it locked in there (unless it's an o-ring one). Might as well get the unknown off/out, then you know you've only got water in there, and wipe and WD40 it.

I have a 12v water pump that runs off a cigarette lighter socket, and a couple of 10L water bottles. It's ok for getting watery mud off, but not much use for clay ... haven't used it much so far, lol It was £20 from a famous auction website ...

After jet washing I usually wipe down with a microfibre cloth, and spray light oil (usually GT85) on all the exposed bits; carb, forks, shocks, etc. When I had the Gasgas I'd pop the air filter out too, both to clean it and to let the airbox dry, but the TY seems happy without that

It was a manufacturing defect with that specific part

My technique is to start last, because I'm going to come near last place anyway nobody seems to mind me just repeating the first couple of sections, and subsequently skipping any with a huge que. I usually finish last, too, because I'm taking my time and stopping for a drink and a nibble as needed. If I que I usually try and chat to other riders, rather than just sitting and twiddling my thumbs. With that said, if any official asked me not to do things that way I would comply, and I actively avoid getting in the way of the competitive types when they get to the point of lapping me

The TY175 is great on trails, provided you're happy to go at 25mph or less

IIRC there's a club in "North Lincs" (Scunthorpe), but judging from the bit below your username you already knew that ... you're probably going to have to travel a bit to find some hills though, no matter what!

If you're modding it, I heartily recommend getting some of the modern yokes, Magicals internals for your 250 forks, and matching them with Rock Shocks at the back. New shocks with stock ~40 year old front springs makes for crappy handling. Stock length is 340mm for the back shocks, no idea on the spring rate but if you order Rock Shocks they work out the springs and valving to suit your weight anyways Good luck!
