Hi Guy's
Hi TRF.
I have just spent eight hours putting a page together on my web site.
Take a look at that ,this will give you all the information you need on several builds of this engine type.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
For any of you lucky enough to own a full set (All 101 issues) of the paper original version of Off Road Review.
the full story about the "Work's" Tigress trials bike by Don Morley is in magazine number 59 and starts on page 30.
the title is ,
"Long Lost Works BSA which once benefited greatly from the Nelson touch, found again."
It is a real pity that Don didn't put his hand in his pocket at the time, then we would not have again lost the bike for perhaps ever?
Derek has the ORR-e version in one of the issues I am sure he knows which one.
I must start trawling through my paper versions there is some interesting stuff that I have missed.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
Hi Stu.
I remember that picture of "Odgie" in one of the ORR mags I will try and find it for you.
I have a page up now on my site named "Tigress in Your Tank" Named "Vera".
Regards Charlie.
-
Hi Guy's.
Hi "S".
Look I have found my old material out.
And It looks like your bike is not "Vera" but another that looks a lot like Her.
So this makes life a lot more interesting and we have another story to follow.
I an a gluton for punishment where this type of bike is involved.
Why? because I grew up in a Garage that sold them and fixed them, "Tigress" that is .
And they were a pain, always oiling plugs I seem to remember when New.
Trouble was they never did enough miles as a scooter and needed a jolly good thrashing up the road, and they were quick for a scooter.
But what a gorgeous sound that little motor made, and was worth all the trouble just to get that rasping note when fixed.
Luckily the silencers fitted on the scooter right behind the back wheel in all of the crud (what a stupid place) rotted fairly easily so made them sound even better,
But were a pain to fix because all of the bodywork had to be removed.
Anyway enough of my ranting.
But you can see that I loved that little engine, and still think the "Works" trials bike may be still about.
Regards Charlie.
-
Hi Guy's.
Hi "Smelling".
Is that bike "Vera"?
It looks very much like it to me.
I started to do a Story on that bike a while ago, but I have not yet got around to publishing it,
If It is "Vera" I would very much like to know.
You can contact me on the Otter site if you like.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
Dabster don't keep winding Deryk up and spelling his Name wrongly.
The awards would be know problem. Done that before.
But the Problem is the trust riders have in this series, If they turn up on a rigid or a Pre-unit.
And the first two or three sections tell the tale of the trial to come, despondency sets in, and the rider feels he has wasted his time and money turning up for a jolly day out.
I may be wrong ,but the wording in the regs only says some sections may be easier?
We will have to see, but I think the trust has now gone in the Sammy Series, just like Sam moved on from Ariel, once again Bultaco's and Twinshocks seem the trials Norm.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's
This was basically the Last "Works" BSA.
Last Mike Mills Frame?
And engine worked on by Mike Mills and Mick "Bonkey" Bowers. both ex BSA. Works.
And Steve Gagg tank exhaust etc , Race Engineering Hubs ETC.
I have added it up to Over 10K to build. So is it cheap?
Nice bike to own Yes, but it is still a "Britshock" with undated age.
Regards Charlie.
-
Hi Guy's.
There is an alternative you know.
Just look on my site.
"Glass fibre Tanks" and follow link.
Regards Charlie.
-
Hi Guy's.
Peter Has now replaced the engine in that bike,
It now has a Chinese CG pushrod 125?-150? Motor fitted into it.
There are pictures of this in "OffRoad Review-e" but you will have to sign up to view. Nice little bike Now.
Regards Charlie. PS, I am fitting one of these motors into my "Mini Majesty" bike. there is a page on the website.

Hi Guy's.
Just going through my site Pages and Updated the Bob Forrest page.
Not with any New information about the theft unfortunately.
I Don't know If Bob has had any information about the bikes stolen either.
You would have thought something would have shown in three years, If the bikes had been stashed.
One good tip when you are rebuilding your engine stamp your name and Postcode inside the Chain case and even crank cases, someone one day will strip said engine and may investigate
these names and numbers. (My engines have names stamped by the engine numbers too).
Then have a sticker made saying that this machine is secretly marked and chipped and stick it on the Tank.
Anyone else got any bright ideas?
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's
Another bottle the same tonight.
Very good.
You need to take a look at my web site.

Hi Guy's.
I Ken and Jon.
I am just surfing out there to stop with a mate who is hauled up on a cat until April until his time runs out in a marina.
so that he can get on with the rest of his life and write another book to be able to do that. Gleda his is name.
You thing I am joking ? He knows more about life than I do and some of his Trials shots are in the top draw of the shop.
Plus he will mis that Telford thing so that has got to be a result for him.
That was a gud drop.

Hi Guy's.
Hi Furze .
I did not want to jump in with both feet untilI had thought about it.
And I also think it has come from the camshaft bush,
If you go to my site and look at the "Duplicated C15F engine" page you will see that I had the same problem.
Through lack of lubrication to the camshaft, the bush sticks to it and uses the crankcase as the bearing,
This makes the camshaft hole in the crankcase bigger and the only cure is to turn up an oversize bush for the camshaft to run in.
It is not that difficult if you have the use, or someone who has a lathe.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
Hi OTF.
You know I have done the page on the "British Rival"! well I brought the spare engine home to take some photos of it for the page.
So I thought, I will spend an hour to see if I can find any parts for this engine , a gasket set and that is about it .So unless you know any different anyone?
You can see why there are not many of the machines fitted with the Fichtel and Sachs 1252/7A engine still competing ? well you can't get the parts.
Simple has that, so they may be all sat in sheds with the engines in boxes.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
Hi Hulmie.
There Is a page on my website now.
And I have one in the garage.
I will try and get some shots done of this shortly.

Hi Guy.
Hi OTF.
Check out the "Twinshock" Page.
Below Ken Sedgley, builder of the one time "British Rival".
-
Hi Guy's.
Just want to get this page back up, has OTF has not done his home work on the Classic Page.
He has asked what a "British Rival" is?
Ask Ken Sedgley OTF.
Regards Charlie.
-
Hi Guy's .
Hi OTF.
Would a "British Rival" be alright for your trials? has we have one lurking in a dust covered corner of one of the sheds.
And I stubbed my toe on the spare Sachs engine under the bench only yesterday.
Now it looks as though the "TRAD" trials thing is something that is not going to take off, I need to turn my attentions to something that might.?
I can replace the space in the corner with the "Mini Otter" from last year.
Regards Charlie.
-
Hi Guy's.
I have spent best part of yesterday researching the "Norman". Breed,
And you are right they, the trials bikes seem to have only been made in small numbers.
There was a resurgence after the works bikes , six I think ran in the 1956 SSDT, and this is the time I am interested in.
Why?
Well it was a guy named Glynn Thomas that had a Norman B2 trials bike that made me want to get into the trials game.
Story on my site.
Being owned by TI from 1952? onwards did not help in the end, when the brothers retired in 1962 TI (Tube Investments) seems to have lost all interest in the breed, and were happy to see the name slip away.
I must say I liked the simplicity of the design of the machine, although the last B4C frame was the only welded construction with what looked like twin seat tubes, the cast lug frames on the previous generations were very pleasing to the eye.
And you know the old saying if something looks right it most usually works right.
Now a replica Norman might be the New James or Bantam?
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
Mike I agree lacing wheels is not easy a real brain teaser.
Just watch some of the chopper builds for the bike in the USA and it is spoking the wheels and Tig welding where they always blow it.
A simple tip to just change the rim on a hub is to tape the spokes together in twos it makes life more difficult to re insert the spokes but just pushing them into there holes and only just starting the nipples it can be done.
Take photos of every operation on strip down and rebuild, then you have a reference .
The worst hubs I have found to spoke are the Triumph Cub - BSA Bantam and the rear one is the most difficult.
Although you can get spoke sets for these of the right size, be careful if the rear hub as been widened because this will make the spokes in the kit to short.
The main problem is the slots on the small flange side (speedo drive side), They keep falling out sir, cure start some self tappers between each pair of spoke in the slot, until you have them all through the holes in the rim,and pinched up.
Tighten spokes a little at a time, or you will find that you have always over tightened one side.
You can true a wheel in a swinging arm sat in a bench voice with some taped on spokes as markers.
Practice lacing on an old cycle wheel, you will soon work out the lacing patterns, by just counting between each run.
The best thing is when you have completed it successfully is that sheer feeling of satisfaction,of conquering the art.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
Hi BSA4life.
I will do a page on my site about the Jialing JH125L rear wheel, and how to fit it into a BSA swinging arm ETC.
I will try and get It done tomorrow for you OK.
Regards Charlie.

Hi Guy's.
Hi Rod,
Thanks for your support,
I will get in touch with the Stratford Club and see if we can't get the Clerk of the Coarse on the Sidecars side.
Do you think if we had sympathy from him and he put some "Traditional Trials sections with NO silly down hill round a tree sections ETC.together.
All the "Barrow" boys could try and give him an entry similar to the Sam Seston DK Mansell trials of old?
This would shock the Classic Trials Nation into support for Traditional Trials.
Are you with me guy's ? We know the plots are sat in sheds, so get them out for a Day of Fun and camaraderie in the Cotswolds.
Pete ,I hope you are reading this! Lets do it for Ron.
Regards Charlie.
