Ran the plug with standard gap Cope, might see what happens with your spec on it though be interested in your bearing mod as well when ready . Must be a Galfer fault with the rear brake? or I must be dragging the bugger whilst riding? cant understand why the pads wear out so quick????? along with grips/fuel/2 stroke oil/ATF/air filter oil and wages

Ruffy, thats a great bike by the looks of it, done nowt and a big saving on the new price. Every bike pretty much has bad points, no getting away from that, the 250 is a better option if you are starting but it will have more then enough power than you'll ever need to be honest. I bought my first Sherco in June, very pleased with the build quality and its easy to work on and maintain, its had a couple of very minor problems like carburation and leaky rear wheel but nothing major. If your going to spend that sort of money might be worth shopping around a little as the new bikes are out or nearly out, might get a brand new one for 3ish (07 model) Make sure you use good fuel and oil, change the gearoil every 20-25 hours or so and keep an eye on the bolts, on most bikes some can come loose after a short time. Air filter should be cleaned pretty much every ride and keep the suspension linkage well greased up

Baldilocks, I still count myself as a Sherco Virgin untill I buy another one, not lost me cherry on this one yet i recon so might be a few pages to go yet. Getting well used to the bike now and feel comfy on it like I did the Beta, know when shes going to grip or not and where the best power is to ride. Great day today with Dad, spent 42 hours on a small grassy bank ten foot square with a root on it Dad still managed to make the section 455 metres long though The Iridium plug made no real difference to the running of the bike but totally cured the hot starting problem?? not sure how but its gone now......................oh and the tyre stayed up all day Legend........................haha yer we do ,dont we

Done plenty of tyres Cope, always use tyre soap and get it seated correct, two pops at 50-60 pound. Been a fair while since Ive had a leaky rim/spokes though, saying that it was very slight,had a few mins spare so tried the silicone whilst the tyre was off and its worked,but for how long is anyones quess.

I thought well before the season started Casey would win this year, many forgot about his results last year, he actually did really well considering. Casey is a real 125/250 rider and I am pretty sure hes riding so well this year is mainly down to the design of this years bikes (much closer to a 250) and how they suit his riding. Cappo hasnt done much this year on the other Duke where hes been right up there in previous years, so the bike cant be mega, Rossi has met his match this year and he knows it. He'll be back next year though,stronger and faster than ever, hes not done yet by a long way.....................................errrrr unless he gets 7 years for the tax thing

Still got 60 pound in the tyre tonight hopefully my 5 minute bodge has stopped the leak dare not take that rim tape off Cope, might never go back on the same again, and I dont fancy 4 hours trying either so I'll see how this goes. Hopefully when I deflate the tyre to 4 pound or so the wheel wont leak Baldilocks, hope its not the pressure in it now thats stopping it leaking. Got the iridium plug today so stick it in tonight ready for playtime tomorrow didnt have the Jitsie carb adjusters in stock so might have to wait for those till next week. 3rd set of rear pads going in tonight?.........................dont they wear out quick?????

Apart from fixing my leaky rear wheel, ran a bead of silicone on the edge of the rim tape then ran insulating tape over it, blew it up to 60 pound and its still there 24 hours later. Probably lucky, but it has worked and only took 5 mins to do, been leaking very slowly since i got the bike, not enough to flat it in a day but more annoying than anything else. Trying a Plat plug Thursday see if theres any difference to starting the bike when warm, not been 100% at starting up once warm since the Boyesens went in? not sure why? and no big deal as a little take is fine for a big give. Ordered the Jitsie air screw/Idle bling bits today so should make altering the mix alot easier at events

Just checked on lampkins web site and the 06 says 500ml of oil in the clutch so apologies to betarick, pretty sure the handbook said 550 though, Doesnt say info on the 07 though so might be different

12 quid should get you 5 litres of ATF, pretty sure i used to put 550ml in mine as well Mark, bit more for clutch strip down oil change though. The ATF makes the clutch abit quicker, not much but i liked it like that, had no problems using it in my Rev3 for over a year and now using it in the Caby with no problems. I do change it every 20 hours though roughly

I use ATF Dexron III, nice and cheap and seems to work better than all the expensive oils I used to use.

Stu, sometimes its next to impossible to see a spark on a bike in daylight, try turning it over in the shed with the lights off this evening you might see one.

Ah bugger Stu, might have been an easy fix that cant you borrow one to try tonight? if its the CDI you'll need a new one, I had two go on my Gasser in 3 weeks so know how you feel, once at the start of a Trial as well. Barry will be knackered within 20 mins of one of Dads sections so you could borrow his bike for the rest of the day Good luck though, hope you can sort it

Disconnect the kill switch Stu if you havent tried that already, no spark from mine twice due to a kill switch, worth a go only take 2 mins, good luck hope to see you at nettleton. And swap the plug cap for a different one as well, whilst its off kick her over and see if theres a spark off the H/T wire

Glyn, thats a cracking online manual/diary of your bike almost hope it breaks down every week looking at what youve what youve done so far if you know what I mean. Should help loads of people

Did you blow the carb out with an air line to clean it? if not blow it out as something might be stuck in a jet or passage. Disconnect the kill switch encase your problems there, sometimes they can be the cause of many hours of pulling bikes apart

Is it a graded wheelie section? I might actually get a clean on the day then
