DG, that must have taken you ages to come up with that one although its not the right answer, the letters dont stand for anything like your answer but make two words, its an anagram of the two words.

Spud, got any WW2 medals? we think he likes polishing silver-ware

Along with the new rev3, Clarkey also purchased a new set of shiny new boots as he managed to get 17 years out of the old ones, he’s looking at about the same return with these so we are pretty sure that’s why he hasn’t had a single dab for over 150 plus sections and three trials on the trot. Dad came up with a clue earlier for the shelf but gave the answer in anagram form? First prize is circa 1941 WW2 army bag, red sammy miller p*** pot helmet and 1788 brass tyre pressure gauge(steam powered) passed down generations from the Fred Dibnah family and personally engraved by Isambard Kingdom Brunel that Clarkey must have nicked at some stage.
The Answer?
THE NUT PRO

Being a chippy by trade just picked up a nice little bit of commission work making and installing a new shelf at Clarkeys house not sure what its for? but the spec is must be able to take a fair bit of weight, reasonably large and mounted on the wall so more shelves can be added month by month? Will have to ask Dad later see if he knows anything about it?

Any news on Malcs bike Tone???? fitted a second alarm yesterday, much louder and has red flashing strobe light, the alarm is so loud its uncomfortable to be near it for more than a few seconds so should help. Have two new ideas to hold the door which will make it impossible to get in unless they drive a 4x4 into it but I wont let on what it is here. Feel much safer now at night, just daytime security to sort before we go back to work.
-
Haha, yer be great to catch that on vid Ian, going to make a new door and insulate the whole lock to eliminate any fire hazard and should pump the voltage up to 11-12,000 volts worked out how to switch off and on very simple really and will be hidden. Also ordered some of the trip mine things so no chance they will get in quietly and the sound of a shotgun going off should leave a turd or two in the trouser leg for a messy getaway
-
Gave the energiser a go today and worked well, got 6,200 volts on the door handle although should be nearer 9000 but have lost some voltage through the timber, still plenty to make a chavs hair stand on end and remove some skin. You can here the clicking on the handle every second, that might put them off on its own especially if i put i sign up saying electrified door. Not sure how safe it is re; fire hazard haha, will have to give it a trial run for a few hours to see if the doors sets alight or starts smoking. Main problem is how to wire up a off switch outside the workshop and hide it else locking and unlocking the door will be interesting. Still think the shotgun cartridge trip wire things might be the best bet though, dont want to come home one day and find the sheds burnt down due the handle/door catching fire.
-
nice one Pete, i recon the energiser will work nice, I used to do a fair bit of permanent electric fencing and had many a jolt off a wire, it aint pleasant but does no damage and I can assure you,you wouldnt put ya hand on the door a second time.
Me and Dad still got our money on it being Ralph trying to pinch my bike after his extended go on Dads 4rt last thursday, once wired up I will get some pics of the set-up and possibly a short vid of Ralph trying the handle (I wont tell him before hand)
-
I have now fitted better locks and more lights around the area and getting another alarm tomorrow. I'm not to worried about the night now as they would make a huge amount of noise trying to get in and I will hear that no problem, been a little slack with security up untill now but if you knew where I lived you wouldnt be surprised. Daytime is the iffy point,ok for the next couple of weeks as someone will be here during the day so I think I am going to make a porch like setup on the workshop (2 doors to go through) and turn the second door so it faces the house.
I am also experimenting with wiring the door handle to a electric fence energiser, wont kill the ****ers but will give them a 8-9000 volts wake up call if the handle gets touched, should be easy to set up just got to remember myself.
Looking increasingly like I might have to take the bike with me to work everyday,be a right pain, but cant chance leaving it at home.
-
*******s!!!!! really feel for the guy, had my workshop nearly bust into last Friday night, disturbed them luckily as they were 20 seconds or so from getting in. Lots of big locks on now and more lights as well as the van parked in front of it every night. Dusted down me peace maker as it looks like Iam on my own on this one, police werent interested in making a visit

I loved the Caby, great bike, well made and found I could do lots of stuff on it I couldnt do before, but also found I couldnt do some of the stuff I was good at on the Rev3,evened out in the end as most bike changes do. The biggest problem I had with the Sherco was whenever I ventured out into a stream. I was totally left behind all the way through and found it very twitchy and unstable and mega hard to hold a line. Really good in the mud and roots/big climbs etc but a nightmare up North. I love going to Wales and Derbyshire to compete/practice but soon found myself avoiding what I like riding more then anything.
I had no intention of selling the Caby as the choices didnt look any better, had mega problems with the Beta so didnt want to get me a*** bit again there, been bitten way too often with Gassers, couldnt bring myself to buy a Scorpa and the 4rt was a noisey bus that would be way to heavy and big for me to ride.
Clarky had just bought his 270 Rev3 and had a quick spin on it (only quick though) felt big after the caby and way to much power (that new carb has made the 270 a little OTT for most) gave it back to Clarky after about 2 mins and Dad offered his tractor for me to try. This was the first time I had chucked a leg over a 4rt and wished I had done it 2 years ago. I couldnt beleive how stable it was, held its line and and instantly jelled with it. Took Dad about 4 hours chasing me round the quarry trying to get it back (hes got a dodgy knee so no chance catching) The Caby is a mega bike, but defo a real experts tool, I could see how it needed to be ridden but just beyond my level.
Now Ive had it three weeks or so I just cant see me ever buying anything else, its given me alot of confidence back especially on rocks and have no problems with grip even though the dishes has been about as slippy as it gets past weeks. Pretty sure it grips better than a 2 stroke in most places but struggles in some areas but think thats just me, and defo grips a hell of alot better than a 2 stroke on some types of climbs. Gagging to go up north for a play soon as Ive not tried it in a stream yet where they excel.
Maintenance...........????????????? got **** all to do in the week!!!!!! no carb to p*** about with, air box is always imaculate and dry no matter what mud you go through and its really well put together everywhere. The 4rt although without doubt a big old heavy girl doesnt feel it when ridden, the suspension is so good it feels light or rather feels the correct weight and size for how it rides. The motor is very responsive everywhere and always rides the same no matter what the weather is doing. Hopping about is far easier on the Mont than anything else i have ridden? goes round easier and further and lands gently so much less chance of dabbing on landing it, that has been one of the biggest surprises about this bike.
This is also the only bike i have bought that I dont feel i need to change anything on it whatsoever, gearing is spot on/riding position/suspension, no fuel to mix,no carb,no fuel switch, one soft prod on the kickstart and away she goes.
Luckily for me and the wallet I have no interest in the bling stuff for the Monts, rather spend the money on spares and tyres than flat tanks and titanium although I have got raptors on it but they are the B*****ks.
Heard about how the clutches are bit sharp? maybe the 07 is different but the clutch is mega smooth and strong, deals with flat out 3rd and 4th climbs from nothing without dragging or squealing like a pig, no problems with stalling either one of my slight reservations as a stall on a 4rt is like hitting a brick wall at 30mph.
I think the biggest impact the bike has made is the smile factor, its bloody good fun to ride, something I have never thought about a Trials bike before, just riding inbetween sections is fun,if you havent tried one yet give one a go, wont suit everyone but give it 30 mins at least you might be surprised.

Got the Boyesens from Here and I have fitted a 42 pilot in the carb, pretty sure the air screw is 3/4 of a turn out but varies day to day slightly. The 40 pilot was too lean and I havent altered the main jet, needle or float heights from standard. I'm going to take a look at the stator position tomorrow and see if I can retard the motor a little as its abit sharp in the streams. I never used map 2 on the bike as it felt too rich and too lively when singing, TTS 2 stroke oil, 75mls per 5 litres of super unleaded (any brand seems to do) Good luck with it in the future, they are great bikes when running right
-
Tell me about it Baz
5: Comfortable/private and peacefull place to take a pre Trial dump
-
Sorry to hear that lads, hope you can get it rescheduled but I know theres are busy couple of months up that way from now on,
-
If the D-Tune switch is anything the Cabby one its a pain in the a***, I've had mine taped up on map 1 since I had the bike, ran very poor on 2 and felt abit mental when you wound the bike up, map 1 is plenty for anything
-
Bike picks up really nice now from nothing and very hard to stall even on mega low revs going up stuff, the K is a great carb but is very very sensitive, you have to adjust the air/petrol screw on a daily basis depending on the temp /air pressure but well worth the effort for the sweet spot.
-
Iam pretty sure (fingers crossed) that I have the only 07 Cabby that seems to run right. I have heard of problems as well and three of may mates bought them at the same time as me. My main problems with the bike have been a very negative throttle response from low revs/pick-up which i have cured with Boyesen reeds and smaller pilot jet and the Cabby bars way to low cured with Renthal bars and bar risers. I love the bike now but it has taken quite a while to get used to it over the years of Rev's i've had and find like most bike changes the bikes will do some things better than others but you loose out on other things.
One of the other cabby's our lot have had a recent Stator and ignition failure the other a crank seal very early on, all three of my mates have not been happy at all with how the bikes seem to run carburation wise so I recon Ive just been lucky.
Got mine in June when they came out, and it must have been ridden at least 6-7 times now since then with no running problems at all apart from not starting first kick when hot after I put the Boyesens in, this was cured instantly by using a Iridium plug though
-
Not had the flywheel off yet soz, but will have a look next week as i am definately noticing the caby abit of a handfull in the streams and rocks up north, if i can retard the timing ok I will give it a go and let you know. The 2 stage switch is nothing but a pain, had it taped up since i had the bike as it runs **** on map 2. Bike down here though power wise/grip is spot on but very noticable getting away from me in the streams which I mistook at first as the bars being in the wrong position
Sorry John B, Cope and Baldilocks are padding now

Ring your local trials dealer and say you want to buy a couple of new tyres for the bike and if they offer a tyre fitting service(sure they will) thats about it though mate, dont bother getting a price off the local tyre dealer though, that will be mega money
-
Ahhhh!!!!! It still lives!!!!
Not heard that Glen? had them in my Beta for ages with no probs and nothing wrong with the Caby either, if they did break after a while i think someone would have said by now, wait and see what cope says though
