  1. Carl. its usually the bottom of the cowling that vibrates slightly against the bottom of the rad and eventually can put a hole in it. Not heard of the actual viens being holed though. If its weeping from the bottom, silicone the cover into place by running a small amount in the top and bottom of the slot the cowl locates into the rad. This should stop any slight movement of the cover whilst riding and stop a hole being rubbed into the rad, as its only silicone you can still remove the cover easily and re-apply the silicone to hold it back in place. Hope thats what you mean
  2. Ah great find slapshot, gold Nuggets were my favs along with the Anglo Bubbly Gum, have bookmarked the site, no wonder i ve only got 3 of me own teeth left in my head and 47 crowns
  3. Mark, you havent seen one of Dads sections yet space and time seems to alter once you enter the start cards, it is a very dark place most of the time and the only help riding one of those buggers is a GPS systems and very low gearing. A bigger gear would be better but by the time you reach the last part of the section your hands cant hold on anymore. Albert Einstien once said " Only three things are infinite, the universe, human stupidity, and one of Dads sections, "
  4. Good luck with that then Andy
  5. **** me Dad, you could have told me last week!!!! or was it a last minute thing. Me and the legend will have no chance now , might just go and watch instead, be great to see his trickery and mastery of the terrain, flick turns, hops and skewiff glasses Would have been good to see the 08 works Beta rider there as well but I have heard bike problems are causing a few problems at the moment
  6. Sonic, go to the home page of TC and scroll down, the classified ads are on the left hand side, press one of the ads and then register, easy process and free and it works. Deep breaths Andy ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh................and rest......... thats better
  7. Neon, youve just hit the nail on the head then, it should be fun not how well your doing, bring the fun side back into it not the results/where am I in the scale of things. We have a bloody good laugh everytime we go out, plenty of banter and p*** taking and we do it as much as possible so we tend to improve by on the bike time rather then trying to hard. Get yourself in a gang of other riders and go out for a laugh on the bike
  8. Both are bloody good, main point should be though why is your mates bike munching sprockets? cheap or not. Does he keep the chain adjusted as it should be? and inline with the front sprocket, is the chain ****ed or in poor condition
  9. Hi Bladerunner, brother used to race the RGV's great fun, had 8 seizes in his last season before moving to SS600 along with 4 compound fractures of the wallet, hope the injury clears up nicely asap. The link below is from the ACU site showing all the clubs in the N.Wales/Cheshire centre, your in a bloody good spot up there with Man 17 and Mac near by. Good luck, its a great sport Your Centre
  10. Ohlins will be ordered end of the month once me wages go in the bank, slacked off the spring a little and the damping is much better now so looks like the original shock is ok but doesnt like a tight spring on her for some reason? A great deal of our sections around here are mega tight, not the best land in the country as i am sure you know so clubs have little choice but to make everything up ya own a*** tight to make them hard. Will go back to standard though whenever we go up North or Wales as it will be way too low in the more open sections and streams. You need a bloody sharp knife to get the reeds out of the vacuum pack, I used a scalpal and cut around each petal and peeled the plastic back so not to bend them
  11. Baldilocks, got those Boyesens in yet? Bike was great Thursday, will make a note of all the settings tomorrow encase any other caby riders are having problems as I know of four out of four. So far Boyesen reeds Map set at 1 all the time 20mm Bar risers on Renthal Fatbars RYP wiring loom Standard Carb settings but 42 pilot and 3/4 turn out on screw Twin Air Filter/PJ1 Filter spray BPR5ES plug 75mls Castrol TTS in 5 litres of 50/50 AvGas/Super unleaded Dexron3 ATF Gear Oil Raptors One tooth less on front sprocket (For Dads sections only) 4th is real nice now but I can only get 17mph in 5th on the road Standard clutch lever/long front brake lever Alloy throttle Various anodised bolts provided by the Goat Galfer pads Peeling stickers Slight weeping from right hand fork leg Fairish amount of scuffs and scratches,.......last time I let Ralph ride it Will take some measurements of shock rebound/compression and forks tomoz as well as bar position
  12. Ralph is pretty good at this as he gets lots of compression out of the shock he could probably get 4 foot of lift with the compression part but gravitiy works strongly against him on the up stroke . You have to be pretty sharp feeding the clutch out whilst the suspension unloads and pull on the bars,it helps if you imagine the bikes not under you as such and you concentrate on getting yourself to jump up and forward, bike has to follow at every stage though, thats the hard part.
  13. Bloody work allways gets in the way of my riding, have a good weekend Dave
  14. Dave, theres an ESTC Trial this Sunday and the big man might ride or observe, I,m bringing cakes and sweets to bribe him if hes got a score board in his hand instead of handlebars Not sure when the next trial is on at the Old Mine but heres the Dudley Clubs phone number 01562 820259
  15. Hi Terripin, You ve got some good clubs around you for events, Stratford upon Avon - Bewdley,Dudley etc. The link below is from the ACU site and shows all the Midland Centre clubs (Some have web-sites) The Stratford Club does some Trials right on your doorstep and usually run 3-4 routes at club Trials, Pete (Scorpa3 on here) runs the Club Trials etc so contact with him is good. A few places to practice not too far maybe more, Top Farm near Broadway and a couple of quarries east of Cheltenham, if you go out, go with someone though, dont ride your bike on your own. What sort of money are you looking to spend? there are loads of bikes about ranging from 500 quid to the new ones, go and watch a trial local to you and have a chat with some of the riders, always willing to help and will be full of good advise/tips Good Luck ACU
  16. 9 days to go then Baz, are you ready for it? good luck mate hope you reach the 1000 quid target
  17. 10 million a year for 4 years in undeclared income? knew he earned a fair bit but makes you wonder how much he actually earns if hes got away with 40 million under the counter? He deserves what he earns though no matter how much it is, I had a chat a few years ago with a photographer at Mallory who had 500 photos signed by Rossi, said it cost him 6000 quid, 12 quid a signature, he was done and dusted in less than 30 minutes Nice!!!!!!!

    Beta 250 2004

2k should get you a good 06, 1500 a 05 and 1200 plus an 04. As Barry said the sub frame or what resemble one is real cheap and easy to sort out. ATF is brilliant in the clutch, wished i had discovered it years ago would have saved me a small fortune, and as neon said the bush is easy to sort. Make sure the shock works ok ie; you can adjust it rebounding damping etc, if its really springy and wont take any knocking off the shock might be f****d and can be very expensive. Have a good ride on it and make sure all the gears works 1-6 and no grindy-nasty noises. Gear changing on a trials bike isnt a smooth as a road bike so expect it to be. Have a quick look at the rad water via the tank insert, easy enough to do. Wheel bearings, fork seals, bit tatty, clutch drag are easy things to sort out so dont be too put off by that if the motor is strong and gearbox works fine. Ask what 2 stroke mix he uses, oil and mix ratio as well and how many hours the clutch fluid has gets changed as well as how often the air filter gets cleaned or changed. If it p****s with fuel when the tap is turned on......this is normal for a rev3.............its designed to do that easy enough to sort out and not a problem you have to walk away from Whats the bike up for?
  19. Bilco, I do my fair share of observing and helping out in the year, I was only commenting on the fact that many observers/riders dont know what the rules are at some Trials. A simple breifing before the event to the riders/Observers to clarify things so there wouldnt be any problems in the day. If the Trials non stop everyone knows inc observers and you cant argue with that, but if its not a non stop trial and you get fived instead of a dab its a bloody mess.
  20. Ive always just used the jet wash and some Gunk on the oily bits, Ryan has recently been using Alloy Wheel Cleaner which he swears by and doesnt take much to get the grime off, Ralph on the other hand doesnt wash his bike, he just waits for the dirt to go crusty and fall off
  21. Baldilocks, I took the rev plates off the Rev 3 and the Caby as the Boyesens come with their own little plates. No limit to opening by the looks of it, make sure you loctite the screws in well and the petals are really flat against the block surface (both petals) if one is letting in a slight gap turn it over, use a really good fitting screwdriver to take out and return the screws into block. Hope you notice a difference I richened the Caby on the pilot and looks like I may have to weaken off the main with the K, might not have to re jet on the Dellorto though like the Mikuni on the Beta. Let us know what you think - difference or not?
  22. Why cant Clubs have an Observer briefing before a Trial to make sure everyone knows the rules, wouldnt take more than 5 minutes. Iam always confused with the rules at a Trial along with what does the Observer deem to be the rules? its a right mess to be honest. Personally I would prefer a stop allowed with no mark penalty, a hell of alot of observers dont mark this as a one already even if it should be a one and no going backwards. Recently me and ralph did a Trial where an observer gave us both a lecture whilst walking the secion of how he was an old hand at this and any stop would be a five the said section had a mega tight 180 degree turn that had to be hopped to get around. We spent a few minutes trying to calm him down and point out a stop was a one and not a five as per the rules in the event but he would nt budge. We missed the section that lap as we knew Mr Haslam would be along shortly and would be in a much better position to argue the case. Grumpy and rude Observers who always take on two sections at time get on me tits fairish as well eh Pete
  23. Baldilocks, think its that new fangled text talk writing for Laugh My a*** Off mate
  24. Cant you twist it to free it up a little? hammering it out only might well bust something. Get some penertrating oil in the rod and leave it overnight, try moving it next morning.
