Interesting, I'm running 11 Front 46 Rear on my 199A and I'm finding 1st way too low but second just a bit too tall for twisty stuff. Is the better option 39 on the back?
Guys, can I ask a really simple question. How is the rear of the tank for the 159 onwards, alloy or plastic secured to the frame, is it designed to just be held in place by the seat and the single bolt at the front through the headstock?
Update. Nigel yes the tap is leakproof. Just had half an hour with some very fine wet and dry, some cheap plastic restorer and polish I bought of ebay and some colour cut. Got to say it is looking better and I will try to post some pics at the weekend.
Very sad to see the news that former CCM factory rider and one of my heroes of the 70s Norman Barrow was tragically killed in a cycling accident just before Christmas. RIP Big Norm and sincere condolences to family and friends.
I have a blue plastic Bultaco trials tank which I think is an original item as it is stamped 1979 underneath. However, it doesn't look very smart as it is very discoloured. Has anyone ever tried or had any luck in cleaning one of these tanks up and if so can you recommend a technique? otherwise I understand they are more or less impossible to paint as they are porous and the petrol vapour will lift the paint.
I would like to fit it to the bike I am just finishing but it just looks a bit shabby.
My 159 is currently at 1mm oversize but could do with a rebore as there is some light scoring after the small end spacer broke up. Is there a bigger oversize than +1mm or will that mean a new liner or scrap the barrel?
