  1. Looking at using a Bantam rear hub on my C15 build. The distance between the inner forks of the swingarm is 175mm, is it recommended to have the hub widened slightly? and can anyone recommend someone to do it?
  2. Oops! see what you mean, trials porn ha ha! Charlie the engine is a 1963 distributor model.
  3. Is there a preferred direction for insertion/removal and should there be any restriction on movement?
  4. If you stop it should be a 5 in my book otherwise it's just a balancing competition, but like has already been said that's what I was brought up on. Problem is sections evolved to allow stopping which therefore is generally too tight for no-stop so you need to adjust sections accordingly.
  5. Yes, but to be honest I've never really had a problem with slip or drag.
  6. Anyone tried the friction material clutch plates from Dave Renham? Any views on performance over original plates?

You might even make more selling individual Knobbles!!
  8. Thanks Woody, standard it is then.
  9. Planning to rebuild a C15 to trials spec. Is there any value in pushing the engine out over 250cc which I believe you can do with a Triumph piston or is it best to use normal oversize.
  10. ...and a very understanding wife?

    This Is My 198B

Do you ever trial them Bondy?
  12. Never tried an Amal or Mikuni but replaced the Bing on my 199A with an OKO and it is much better in terms of throttle response
  13. My 199A has identical numbers for frame and engine.

    199A Airbox

What filter are you using Scot? My 199A has an original box but I use the one-piece filter/hose on it and it runs fine. As has already been said the volume of the airbox shouldn't really be an issue and it only exists to protect the filter, it's more about flow into the box.
  15. Hi Gary, check out www.aqueductclassics.org.uk, a really friendly twinshock/classic club based around Llangollen in N Wales. Trial routes are really sensible with a white route for beginners and very well organised. I am based in Runcorn and most of us are over 40 at least but you do get beginners on modern bikes and younger lads starting out. There is a trial on the 6th Jan and throughout the year, details on the website.
  16. Think the issue could be more about the trial as a whole rather than bike and sections. Some trials I've competed in it has been more difficult between the sections than in them. I think physically you are probably right with the TY175 and Fantic. I would suggest most twinshocks are 'harder' to ride than modern bikes. Perhaps a modern 125 and look out for Dead Easy trials or some of the twinshock clubs who encourage beginners on modern machinery and have a corresponding easy route.
  17. I use 80:1 in my 199A, no problems at all. I thought you were coming out to play today Bondy? Good trial with the Aqueduct lads in Llangollen.
  18. What model? For 198/199 it's 3 M8x45 and 1 M8 x 50 in the parts book.
  19. You'll be ok Bondy, turn up on the day, no suicide sections and a white route if you just want a gentle ride out. See you there.
  20. Get yourself down to the next Aqueduct Classics trial in North Wales www.aqueductclassics.org 18th November. Great bunch of lads and sensible sections for twinshocks, classics and beginners on modern bikes plus catering. Fantastic day out.
  21. Should be trialling it Bondy not greasing it up for Winter!

    Miller Frame?

Had a look at a Sherpa 250 that may be for sale. It's definitely an M80 Engine and has the Homerlite Tank/Seat Unit but the present owner believes it has a special Sammy Miller frame. The frame number starts HB 150****** but definitely has tubes under the engine. Is this an early version of a Hi-Boy or was it standard?
  23. Hi Jimbo, as far as I know they are not very scientifically sized due to the fact that I had some Bulto legs rechromed at 35mm and the guy rang me to confirm because he said he had had complaints in the past when he has done legs to 35mm and they are too big. Mine felt a bit stiff at first but have got smoother so I assume the tolerance isn't that tight.
