  1. Whats the technique for removing the roller bearings in the swinging arm and rear suspension? Is heat recommended or do they just drift out?
  2. Are the rules different for indoor then with all the "toe" action!
  3. Did you split the clubfoot? Is that then a welding job to put back together?
  4. Interesting that he seems to have sprayed the plastic tank, assume that won't stick for long.
  5. Hi Rob Me and my lad very interested as we live in Runcorn, is it legal? send us a pm with details Cheers Penno
  6. You may get a more detailed response but I believe a 16 yr old can ride any cc as a novice.
  7. 40 on the rear is probably ok. It's more likely what's on the gearbox sprocket that sdriving your gearing up. When I got my 315 it had been used as a trail bike and had a 12 tooth gearbox sprocket, I think the standard was 10T but I've fitted a 9T which for me makes the first three gears a lot more useable in a trial.
  8. Thanks for the info Cubby, will look out for you at the weekend. Cheers Penno
  9. We are going over to the Island for a long week to take in the trials and the Grand Prix. Is there anywhere to get hold of the route for this weekends trial before we arrive on Saturday morning?

  11. Thanks for that, oil, filter and plug were done as 'normal' so I'll have a go at cleaning the carb and a look under the rotor cover for starters.
  12. My son's 04 125 is suddenly running really sluggish with slow throttle response and a lack of power. No apparent problems when he rode it last weekend. Checked the plug in normal servicing yesterday and it was perfect brown colour but thought I'd change it for a new one anyway. Did one lap of a local trial today and said it wasn't pulling properly. Checked the plug as a first step and it was really black and carboned up. Put the other plug back in and the bike is really no better. As I said it feels sluggish on the throttle and if you rev it as if you are cleaning it out there doesn't seem to be a lot of normal 2T smoke (don't know if this is connected or not). Other than change the plug nothing else has been altered or adjusted. Any suggestions gratefully received.
  13. Don't know what my riding style is yet! General question was aimed at checking if it was a general problem on the 315 for taller riders and looking for general recommendation on the best bars. Rather than spend a fortune on trial and error no pun intended:guinness:
  14. I'm a six foot one ish white route warrior and enjoy my 2003 315r immensely. However, after riding it for any length of time I always have a stiff neck and top of shoulders. The standard bars seem pretty flat and I am wondering if they are perhaps too low. Has anybody else experienced similar, changed bars etc? or is it just that I am a KOS!
  15. Damn lucky, good effort though, is he the only man ever to trial a Ducati 900SS?
  16. My lads 04 125 suddenly seems very 'vibey' when revved compared to how it's felt since he's owned it. Is this a sign of something on the way out?
  17. Hi Ben For my 03 315r and my son's 04 Gasser I use 60ml of synthetic to 5L of fuel which is near as dammit 80:1 with no problems whatsoever. 25ml per litre is 40:1 which is way too rich Cheers Penno
  18. Hi Pete I'd say get back in there! "You don't stop playing because you get old, you get old because you stop playing"
  19. From what you describe it sounds like some sort of blockage between the tank and the float bowl. Have you checked Fuel Tap, pipe, float valve for blockages/flow?
  20. Should it still be acceptable to pop a couple of pasties? Or would this show up on the pie test?
  21. Does anybody have a contact for Betor Shock Servicing and/or supply of heavier rated springs?
  22. Good to see from last weeks results that Shaun Morris is back in competitive action after his freak accident last year. Hope his recovery continues.
  23. Fantastic, noted Geoff Duke and Stanley Woods, already established road racers doing the Scott Trial, Duke on a converted Norton Dominator. How about Toseland and McGuinness for this years Scott on a couple of Fireblades with trials bars and knobblies!
  24. Is that not what Mechanical Talk is ? under Technical Forum
