  1. Here is the link explaining the situation. Hey. What Happened to the TrialsComp Forum?
  2. Welcome, Are you on the Grand Lake or Estes Park side? Friends from Denver and I ride up by Grand Lake every summer. I like the Gilsonite trail. DFW
  3. Twas a boring course. Had to fast forward to be able to watch it all. Nothing in the rule book says that KTM and SUZ can't make a trials bike. If the sponsors want Endurocross to fail they should keep making flat lander tracks like like the one for Oklahoma. DFW
  4. Running a castor based oil makes anyone who is behind you on the loop want to seek you out and kill you. It smells like sh^t and should only be run by serious A**holes who just like to screw with people. If you are a nice person I recommend using Motul 800 at 80:1 to 100:1 or some fully synthetic oil other than strawberry IPONE. Just my humble opinion. DFW

    Synthetic Oil

I have an 03 SY-250 and use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in the gearbox. Synthetic motor oil may be too slick to make the clutch work well. Semi-synthetic? Who knows? DFW

    Cope-xispa?

If Ryan can't sell them because of conflicts with Sherco and possibly Scorpa and the bike is a decent bike, I would like to see Mike Komer pick up the line. I think he did a great job with Scorpa and I heard that in the past he imported other brands with great success as well. Doug Wilson

    Cope-xispa?

Mark, Why is Ryan peed over the big ones? Won't he be able to sell the big ones? Sounds like a coup. He will have Sherco, Scorpa, and Xispa 250 2Ts available. Doug
  8. Mike, I have an 03 and love it. You might want to get some plastic screws and use them to hold on the rear mud guard. This will save you breaking the mud guard during an unplanned get off. Carry a few extra screws in your kit. A carbon fiber silencer guard will keep you from blistering your left leg. My middle silencer split but has not again since I had it welded a couple of years ago. Remember to check your spark plug at least once a year. It is a little hard to get to. Great Riding Doug Wilson
  9. Charlie, Here is a link for their new CD Whole Lotta Jalapeno at CD Baby. I couldn't get the My Space player to work. DFW
  10. I googled it, found the coordinates, 50.83083-118.45389, and looked it up on google earth. What a ride.
  11. Charlie, Great music. I noticed that you didn't include Lowell George and Little Feat in the influences list? Here is a link to my younger brothers band Wrestlin' with Jimmy. You might enjoy their music. Doug Wilson
  12. Dave, Great pictures. If you can would you please post the latitude and longitude of the summit. I would like to look it up on Google Earth. Thanks Doug Wilson
  13. Steeper head angle(tighter turning radius so you may experience the front end tucking under until you get used to it), very good throttle response(like the 315R), well built(same in quality to the 315R), bullet proof engine(I know this from personal experience), very easy to maintain(like the 315R, you have to remove the tank to change the plug but the no linkage suspension makes up for the trouble), and great traction(like the 315R). I think that you will like it. Have you tried riding one. Doug Wilson
  14. R2wtrials Fantastic photos Thanks for taking the time and effort to post them. Doug Wilson
  15. Martin Hawyes and Martyn Ashton are both fantastic riders. Ali Clarkson is not so bad either. I would love to see pics or video if you get some. Thanks DFW.
  16. Probably supply and demand. I imagine that there are quite a few more used bikes in the UK than in Canada and the US combined. DFW
  17. Sam, Not yet. Still researching. Doug
  18. Gives Red Bull a bit of double entendre.
  19. I bet that you are dropping your shoulder toward the inside of the turn. Doing this will make you dab to the inside of the turn. Lean the bike but keep your center of gravity outside the bike not in line with the rear wheel. If you are turning to the right keep your right arm straight and fully extended if you are turning to the left keep your left arm straight and fully extended. Hope this helps. DFW
  20. Kdub, I have an 03 SY-250 and it is a great bike. My son has a 99 Sherco. The frame cracked and had to be repaired. The engine/transmission is still in decent shape but the rest is worn out and needs to be replaced. Here is my take on what trials bike to buy. Scorpa SY-250 03 or newer Montesa 315R 03 or 04 (older are still good but the newer ones are smooth as silk) Montesa 4RT any year if you would like a 4T and can spend more than 3k Sherco is OK (on the older models check the frame just above the radiator for cracks) Beta is OK but watch for water pump corrosion (can be severe and require replacing the side case) Gas Gas Pro not OK for a beginner (Handle bar clamps break off) They are very light but sacrifice longevity for it. Gas Gas TXT the model before the Pro is good durable but older The best thing to do is ride them all and then make a choice.
  21. Kdub Rear brake pads tend to go fast as you will learn to drag the rear brake to control your speed when turning. You may have to replace them every 3-6 months. You may want to use nylon screws or bolts to retain your plastic bits. The nylon will break or pull out saving you from having to buy a new fender every now and then. Zip ties work but not as well. If you keep the air filter clean and well oiled and change the transmission oil at least twice a year the bike will last nearly for ever. DFW
  22. I think that I would prefer to have a bike without a d
  23. Sounds like a good idea. I have several old mountain bikes. A Bridgestone MB1 and a MB4 not sure either of these could be reconfigured to trials as they both have horizontal not sloped top tubes. I am thinking that a specialized P1 would work if I replaced the Marzocchi with a standard front fork. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Doug
  24. Seems like I was not paying much attention when I answered your post. May have had something to do with Makers Mark and soda. Doug
