  1. When I worked for a compressor manufacturing company in Broken Arrow Oklahoma a couple of the guys in the shop invited me to go noodling for catfish. I thought I might accept their invitation until a week later when riding my bicycle, I saw a large shape at the bottom of the creek behind the house, it turned out to be a snapping turtle which was about 36" from tail to nose. Later at the barbershop in Coweta, OK the barber had a picture of a snapping turtle that his son had shot with a bow and arrow which measured 44" from head to tail, its head was 6" wide and its mouth was big enough to bite your hand off. From that point forward I decided to fish from the shore with the water moccasins and cotton mouths. DFW
  2. Bugatti, French????? Sounds like an Italian who got tired of competition. DFW
  3. Quite right. By the end of reading the message I had already gathered up my assault rifles, my sniper rifle, 10,000 rounds for each, 100 lb each of hard tack and bacon, a bag of pinto beans, informed my militia network, and headed for the hills. Yee Ha DFW PS I did bring along my two trials bikes. Might need them for recon.
  4. If you use the welding method just make sure to disconnect your ignition module and that the ground does not go through any bearings i.e. don't hook the ground to your kick stand or counter-shaft sprocket. It would be better if you could ground directly to the plug using something like a smaller pair of needle nose Mole Grips Cheers DFW
  5. Have you tried using a set of Vice Grip pliers? These will bite into the metal and twist the bolt loose. Another approach is to use a small grinding wheel and re surface the bolt flats. Good luck DFW
  6. tt5th, Great video. Thanks for the link. DFW
  7. What incredible fun on a trials bike. The guys with enduros would do better if they had trials tires. Thanks for posting the links. DFW
  8. This is a great letter. I hope it does the trick for asc. DFW
  9. I have a Cota 247 with a Mikuni and it ran great (it is apart right now to fix the frame). The conversion required an approximately 1" thick spacer. I made the spacer out of Delrin plastic. DFW
  10. Rodzilla, The part of the trail we ride is the upper Gilsonite. It is definitely a single track and is shown in yellow. DFW
  11. Welcome Rodzilla. You will find the Gilsonite trail is a blast on a trials bike. Gilsonite

  18. Thats just a quick 720 mile jaunt down US Highway 60 form my house. Through interesting places like Globe, Show Low, Pie Town, Socorro, Willard, Vaughn, Texico, Herford, Panhandle, and Pampa. Thanks DFW
  19. Thanks for the video. Where did you shoot it? DFW
  20. Mobil 1 synthetic ATF works great in my SY-250. Cheers Doug
  21. Have you checked to see if the silencer has split along the rear seam? This happens with most SY-250Rs. If it has split you can get it welded and it will be quiet again. Hope this helps. DFW
  22. Spencer, Welcome. I hope you will join the Top of Texas Trials Association Link . We host two rounds of the Texas State Trials Series which is usually in April at Lake Mackenzie Reservoir which is about half way between Pampa and Lubbock. I wish I could help you with information on any of your bikes but you have come to the right place. I have a 74 Cota 247 which needs some parts before it goes back together. I look forward to meeting you. Doug
  23. Great story!! I fell out of my chair laughing at this one. Fortunately it was only 16 inches to the ground. Cheers Doug
  24. 600 ml of Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF works great. Best clutch action ever. Been running it in my 03 SY250 since 04. DFW
