  1. Chader, One thing about trials riders is their willingness to let almost anyone try their bike. Go to a trials and I am sure that you if you express an interest you will be able to try out almost every bike that is there. To turn the topic around what kind of 26" trials bicycle would you suggest for someone who wants to start riding? Ciao Doug Wilson
  2. I am the engineering manager for a contract gas compression and compressor sales company. I must warn you if you view the website that there is a fair amount of Texan in the language used to describe our products. Fluid Compressor We offer liquid ring, rotary screw and reciprocating compressor packages. We power them with Chevy 3 liter, 5.7 liter, 8.1 liter gasoline engines (equipped to run on natural gas) and electric motors. Pampa, Texas had the second largest trials club in the USA in the 70's an 80's. The Oil Bust in 1986 pretty much ended the era. Ciao DFW
  3. Use a die grinder with a carbide burr and elongate the hole in the skid pan. This allows straight in access to the plug without removing the skid pan. DFW
  4. Has the bike back fired really badly? Has the bike crashed and run at full throttle and you had to shut it down from full throttle? If so you might have a twisted crank. Remove the flywheel housing and check out the run-out of the flywheel. Did this to mine and it ran like Sh** until I got it repaired. Repair requires splitting the case and twisting the crank back into alignment. This is not likely, but from the thread, nothing else seems to have worked.
  5. Motul 800 at 80:1 Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF in the gearbox
  6. GasGasBoy, I have an 03 and love it. Get a carbonfiber rear exhaust guard. Mine cost me about $99 and is worth every penny. Before I got it I went home with blisters on my leg a few inched below the top of my boot after every ride. The big, thick, flat bash plate is another good investment Ciao Doug
  7. Andy, What number is Rally Car Driving. After all you do have a WRX don't you. DFW
  8. I have always had excellent service from Mike Komer at the Tryals Shop. I don't see why Scorpa needs to change importers. I hope RYP will pay as much attention to Scorpa as they have to Sherco. DFW
  9. 315 cc no wonder it is soooo fast DFW
  10. What about Caber (Kaber) tossing? DFW
  11. Alan, Well yes, but I must admit more eloquently. DFW
  12. It is a bungi cord for your shark fin you need it when you go fishing for rocks in the Red River at Munster. Hang five Doug Wilson Or it could be to hold the brake pad back for easy real wheel installation.
  13. I do believe that the show has been canceled. Greg White says on GregOnTv "During the final 2 Wheel Tuesday I was wearing a T-Shirt that said HOLYSHIFT. I have received many emails asking me where they can get this shirt... well here in the info." On a happier note there was a Tomi Ahvala SuperTrial clip shown as part of the closing montage. DFW
  14. Thanks all for the information. Nigel I took the tire back off the rim and cleaned the rim with brake cleaner. I cleaned the tire bead with alcohol. I assembleld everything back together (no lubricant) and the tire seated at about 60 psi. It didn't pop but the mold line on the tire just outside the rim evened out like what I would expect on a pedal bike tire. I will leave it overnight at 35 psi and see how it does at 7 psi tomorrow evening. Doug Wilson
  15. I put a new tube in the front tire on my 03 SY-250 and pumped it up to 35 psig but the tire did not seat on the rim. The tire is rated for 35 psig. How much pressure does it usually take to seat a tire? Does the front tire pop like the rear tire when it seats? How high a pressure is safe? Thanks Doug Wilson
  16. Hey Doc, I visited our grave about a month ago. You are burried on a hill side with a nice view. The walk to to cemetary would have been a nice ride on a trials bike Doug Dam Lane now nobody is going to like those two Have you seen Ringo? If you have tell him I'm looking for him <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  17. The 2002 SY-250 has an old style swing arm with a welded drop out. On 2003 and newer the swing arm is extruded. The 2004 had a different ignition and the 2006 has larger brakes. They haven't changed that much. A 2002 would be good. I have an 03 and like it very much. Ciao Doug Wilson By the way I have DGShannon's 03.

    Sy Problem

The drain plug in an SY is a Scorpa mod. It's 13mm (I think?), this is (as far as I know) to allow it to be removed from the small hole in the bash plate. The original TYZ plug was/is 17mm. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you spend a few minutes with a die grinder and a carbide burr you can open the hole in the skid plate up so that you can get a socket wrench on the drain plug using an extension. You just have to remove enough metal to give the extension a bit of room. DW
  19. AtomAnt, The nice looking young lady in PIC7 seems to be making a gesture. It doesn

    Sy Problem

Austini, The carbon fiber rear exhaust guard is well worth the money. Nice add-ons. DFW
  21. Of course the beave's medication wore off and he went on some tangent about chile rellenos. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, I love chili rellenos. (green chili pod stuffed with cheddar cheese, dipped in batter and deep fried) Can't get them here in Texas. Closest place is in New Mexico. Best ones are here. Chili Rellenos Happy eating!

    Sy250

I use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. Best clutch performance I have found.
  23. Nitjay, Have you pulled the jug and removed the piston to check the small end needle bearings? It is not a hard job. Bearing, a new pin, and cir clips are not expensive. The only time that my Scorpa made a whirring or whining sound is when I buried the throttle six inches in the mud wide open and I tried unsuccessfully to stop the engine. The engine back fired and twisted the crank. The flywheel was rubbing against the cover and made the whirring noise. I sent the engine back to the dealer and he fixed it. It has not made any strange noises since then. The crank was 0.060" TIR. Ciao DFW
