Shame no one chimed in,I'm interested too,at least two of my bikes need new rear shocks and all I'd say is the Betor's on my TY250 lasted about 5 trials before they leaked.....
-
New bikes more robust - I dont think so.
-
Mine fits really well, first trials helmet which has been comfy,(Odd shaped head....) But trying one on is the only way.the other good bit about my Hebo is that the lining is easy to remove and wash,so it doesnt stink or go mouldy.
-
Thanks for that Bo - I'm on You Tube ! And cleaning a section..... (Cheating really,I rode the clubman route cos I've not ridden for ages and Cowcombe woods can be quite hard)
It was interesting that alot of the older bikes seemed to grip better than the mono's.
-
Excellent trial, glad I made the effort. Also was interesting to see alot of older bikes finding grip where some of the moderns were spinning. Some riders were finding the route between sections more difficult than the actual observed bits.
Thinking about it,in the last couple of years a few trials have made me wonder why I was bothering - all of them have proved why I should, they were great fun.
Thanks again to Fred and the team for putting on a great event in difficult conditions.
-
With the Lair it can be hard to plan,(If the weather plays games the day before.)but what we do with all the Bath trials is to try to make the B route sensible for novice riders or riders of older Pre65 or rigid bikes. The aim is to give everyone a challenge but not to put people off or make it dangerous.
It really is an excellent place to ride, with any of the clubs that use it.
-
Fantastic venue, dry hard parking and more scope than most places could dream of.Can be VERY wet, bike clogging with red mud.My favourite bits of it are down at the bottom of the Lair in the stream and the rocky climb back out.
I have booked it for the 31st July for Bath Classic's trial. If its dry we should be able to use some of the more tricky bits to take a few dabs off the stars......
-
Go to the Trials Central home page and put the cursor over the community box,a drop down will open - classifieds at the bottom.
-
It couldnt be too hard for Honda to start making TLR200's again,I think they would sell OK,esp if the price was good.(Would serve to hack off a few owners who paid silly money for them though.)
-
And my wife just reminded me of the thermal spa.
-
But Bath is sooooo much warmer this time of year.
-
Maybe for those "Scramblers" - a bacon and egg roll and a cup of tea is standard fare for a trials rider.
-
-
Why not go to a trial and ask the riders who they use,in our club there are several people who fix others bikes and are well known and respected for it.I'd be suprised if there was no one in you club that does the same.
-
We just dont learn,I've also got 4 land Rovers to look after, one of which will be a ground up rebuild with a galvanised chassis,200TDI engine etc. Then theres that 1968/9 247 Cota and a couple more TY250's......
And I'd really like a vintage car to play with, then theres vintage tractors - for some reason my wife is dead against me having a tractor, cant understand it.
-
The Serow has about an inch of dust on it.I basically have everything except time to finish it,buying the HT5 hasnt helped,or the Ducati.Or taking on the job of trials sec for bath Classic....
It will get done though, just so much to do all the time.As soon as the HT is usable the Serow will be next cos the Ducati is a summer tool that can wait a bit.
-
Thank you for the positive feedback, makes it all worth it - when we were marking out we did wonder on more than one ocassion what we we doing there.
-
I dont think I'd want to trust a unit like that, yesterday a mates 240 Fantic packed up right at the bottom of the valley at our trial yesterday - couldnt have chosen the car park to fail.
Anyway my suggestion is to talk to the people at Electrex World, with all the kit they do now they should be the ones to help.
-
We have decided to go ahead, the trial is being marked out as I type this.Alot of the snow has gone, the thaw is working well.
The past part of the lane to the venue is quite slippery ,but we will try to get some salt down if there is enough daylight left.
-
If we get the weather thats been forecast the Bath Classic trial will go ahead on Sunday at 10.30am. We are meeting there on Sat morning to make a final decision.I went to the farm today, the lane to it and the car parking area are fine - but there is still quite alot of snow in the valley and the ground is frozen hard. Please check our website; http://www.bcmcc.org/ which will get updated at lunchtime.
I really dont want to cancel if at all possible as its taken alot of effort to secure the venue which is new to our club, and has lots of scope.
The sections will be marked out good and wide,no dangerous stuff.
-
Dont think thats the case around here,my club - Bath classic does not have a schoolboy class as such, but there are plenty of young riders right down to ty80's.Have a look here at Golden Valley's classes; http://www.goldenvalleyclassicmotorcycleclub.co.uk/classes.html Now there is a sucessful club.
I think its all I said before, mostly that the sections are not stupidly tight or dangerous - its just good fun, simple as that.
-
I picked up the mag last night, looking like new and ordered a Morgo rotary pump today.Lets hope she doesnt notice the paypal account.......
-
i have to say I think it looks 'kin orrible.....
The BSA motor looks totally out of place,BUT thats only my opinion - as OTF says,Merry Christmas
-
Thats where you are going wrong, bringing in too many rules to argue over, min weight etc.We just have classes for rigid, pre unit, unit and twinshock.Simple as that.We often get 80 odd riders turn up for a days fun, some are top class riders, most just want a fun day out with no broken bones so they can go back to work on Monday. We run two routes, others locally run three, what is important is that everyone has a good day out.
-
I dont try read too much into it - our last trial had 82 riders, none complained they hadnt enjoyed themselves. There are big differences in rider skill too, some very competative, some attempting their first few outings. For what effort it is to set out a trial I think its worth it,I'm just glad the health and safety hoovers have left us alone.
