    Sick Majesty!

cheers sam, I wondered why i had another blanked hole on the right side of the carb? the clutch pulls fine (i grew up riding ossa's) any more mods would be welcomed if you can remember that far back?
  2. Do you really need lights fitted? you can mot/tax it on a day time MOT! if you want lights the two wires will be the feed into the rest of the wiring loom! best bet is to get a wiring diagram from ex yamaha dealers say birkets or j.shirts if they still have one? there should be a bracket down by the rear brake pedal? look on ebay for a ty250 mono loom and std lights/horn etc! this may be a long wait!!! youll defo need a light switch! dont think a regulaters used on this model but i could be wrong? good luck!
  3. How do you remove the small allen bolt at the bottom of the fork legs (ie stop it revolving inside?) as i want to strip my forks on my suzuki? thanks in advance!
  4. Whats best paint the hubs with a quality paint such as PJ1 or powder coat? thanks!

Thanks Sam! Ill go with that ill change the condenser first! then set the timing! the bike was super reliable before the dreaded river section! suppose thats always a good test! my bikes a 1980 yamaha framed would this have std porting and carb settings etc! it deffo has the std flywheel fitted and not the heavy one! the engine and chassis numbers match so should be all original? Nick.

    Sick Majesty!

Hi Folks! having problems with my 250 majsety after doing a fun trial at earl shilton on sat night one of the sections involved a stretch of water (river!) which was quite deep in places! on the third time round the bike started to splutter and load up! after escaping the exit bank i made it to the van thinking the old girl had gulped a large amount of water (the villiers brigade merrily rode this section with the engines under water! ) anyway i removed the float bowl and removed any traces of water but the bike was still sick ie wouldn't rev properly or cleanly! anyway when i got home i removed the airfilter and checked inside the airfilter box all ok supprisinley dry! removed the ign cover and a lot of water fell out! ive sprayed the inside the flywheel/stator with wd40 but she wont start or run properly? anyideas? ive stripped the carb and cleaned throughly! could be the points/ condenser? of sheared woodruff key? its doing my head in as normaly this bike is super reliable! thanks scotty!
  10. Woody what years are the kickstart thats needed! i dont think its the latest type! as its has to have a pinch bolt running through it! perhaps a 90's model???
  11. you must have had a bad ignition! ive had 4 ossas all weve motoplat ign, and all have been excellent!!! i'd go weve a good secondhand motoplat unit from Ebay etc! they do come up now and again! incidently my stepdads ossa had been outside everyday in all weathers for 10 years and that still starts and runs well! so that must be some test of a good ignition system in my book!
  12. Anyone know whats the best overall gearing for a ty250 pinky? the bikes going to be used in southern sections ie plenty of mud/roots etc! thanks Scotty!
  13. Bet theres no frame and engine numbers! if it has i bet there messed up like the rest of the bike!
  14. Thanks mate! ill check the ign crank seal, dont think it will be the clutch side as the bike hardly smokes! Im Going for a rebore/ new piston etc!!! but where the hell do you find pistons for the KT250! got a geniune +50 piston but no rings!

    Gilera What ?

Yep remember those days well! when everyone who rode suzuki ap50's wore texaco suzuki padock jackets!!! i had a fizzer! that was a fab little bike poss, why i love yams so much! remember the gilera's well to you'll hear them blearing up the road then hear a clanking sound as one of the pedals would fall off! Also remember the Gileras rear light used to rotate all the wayround in the housing when revved up from the vibes! a mate used to have a cimatti kaimen enduro now that was a f**king beauty! rare as hens teeth! that was the only one i'd ever seen! it had some strange features like a really square cyl, head with the words compact system stamped on it? also little crocodile stickers on the engine covers? weird!!!

  18. Thanks for the reply Woody! i reckon ill send off for that special puller if its the right money! on a different note i think its time to get rid of my kt250 as its getting no use! cant say ive really got on with it! to me its always felt more of trail bike like a pukka trials bike! so its got to go! plus could do with making some space in the garage!
  19. Thanks everyone! dont think the engines been stripped! its just a fault thats occured? Woody it looks like the engines gonna be striped down! best watch out for all of them shims dropping out all over the place! (if there is any! ) incidently apart from a air wrench to shock the left hand thread flywheel nut off! Dont you also need a special splitter to get the coller of the over side of the crank??? where do you get one from the US???
  20. Hi All, Im having problems with my kawasaki kt250 i have to hold the throttle wide open to get it to start!(choke on) also when the engine starts the choke has to be turned off almost straightaway or it wont run! also the engine gets really hot quickly? when warm if you turn the choke on it kills the engine instantly! (this dosent happen on my beamish it just runs to rich!) theres not a lot of compression when you crank itover by hand! there so it may need a rebore or new rings? any ideas? thanks in advance
  21. no the gearlever wont move up above 2nd gear! thanks!
  22. Im trying to sort a problem weve an ossa engine ive got up and running it starts up ok, and 1st and 2nd select ok and the bike pulls away normally BUT wont shift into 3rd gear! anyone had this problem? the gearlever not bent and the bike selects 1st and 2nd going up and down the box when riding it but no 3rd gear and upwards! HELP!!!
  23. Might all be from the same manufacturer cos as we know Miller doesnt make anything. Thought i had seen them on J K Hirst site and when i asked John Cane said he did them. Not really bothered about who and where just is the fact that they are smaller diamiter, if indeed they are?, might cause a problem? I could always get one made but cheaper if i use the one from J K Hirst. Dont like supporting Miller unless there is no choice. Just a personal thing. Like to support the people who are polite and offer good service. So is the smaller bore pipe a problem? I have a Sammy Miller front pipe linked into a WES two piece mid section/silencer system. Even though I live 5 miles from S/M's shop, I had to buy it from JK Hirst's as Sam didn't have any in stock, but that was OK as I had bought the WES from JKH also. (very good service). Glad you posted this as ive got a WES Alloy system for my 250 majesty! haven't fitted it yet as i need to get a original front flange as im not cutting up the original exhaust as its to good! yep your right about getting the inner pipe being grinded out! im going to do this too! The front pipe that they supplied is an S/M one. As to the diametre of this pipe, if is is smaller than the original, it aint much and I haven't found that it chocked the bike, on the contrary, having a complete new exhaust has made my bike run bloody lovely. There is a difference of about 2mm in diametre between the front pipe (40mm O/D) and the WES middle section (42 I/D) and to get over this, I used a piece of 0.8mm thick gasket sheet rolled up in between the two pipes, stuck in with heat resistant silicone sealer and used a good quality strong exhaust clamp that I bought of off Ebay (I could have bought one from one of the stalls at Motorcycle World, but it was too late by then) and clamped the whole lot together, and it's great, I'am well pleased. One word of warning though, the WES exhaust has no gaurd and does get f*uckin' hot and burns your leg if you aint careful while riding! One last thing I felt needed to be done to the front pipe was to grind out the most horrible looking miss-match of the tubes that are thankfully accessible because they are at the exhaust port end. This is where a curved tube is welded into tube straight tube with the flange on it and the bit inside needs to be ground away to encourage a better gas flow. You can't get it all out completely smooth but I have made it a million times better, and having spent the last 27 years in engineering, I couldn't bare to leave it like it was.
  24. That bikes lovely Chris! top job! I've nearly finished my KT250! will get some pics up on here soon! (got the std lights and speedo fitted! ) there a beautiful looking bike! haven't had the balls to get it blooded yet as near mint! in candy apple green! if i do ill try and get a spare tank and s/panels as the sidepanels will be the biggest wear point as they stick out a fair bit just ready to get the paint worn off by yer riding boots!!! p.s the lights will come of too!
  25. Cant understand how bultaco tried to shave weight by hard chroming the brake hubs and then fitting the heaviest silencer they could find either! does anyone know if the works bikes of the seventies had clubfoot silencers that were made from stamped alloy? if they factory had the presses then why not? they may have been painted black to be passed off as the same silencers that were fitted to the production bikes! who knows?
