  2. THANKS LADS! on closer inspection ive found some idiots applied to much force trying to remove the float pin and snapped off one the lugs that support it at the ends! this is proberly making the float bob about a bit who knows? will try other ideas at the weekend, cheers!
  3. That brings back memories! was hickens fantic a 200? Birk's majesty was that the last version of the 250! anyone know? have you anymore you could post?
  4. Hi guys, Im having a problem with my 250 yamaha pinky! when say in first gear and doing a tight turn(when throttle control is needed most!) the bike feels uneven ,snatchy, ive cleaned out the carb and jets but noticed 1, the needle at the tip is worn 2, is there supposed to be some sort of surge baffle where the main jet sits (there isnt one on my bike!) it revs fine as it should do at all other throttle openings! thanks in advance!

years ago i had a yam ty250r with front drum brake! this was when bikes with front disc brakes first started coming out, one trial i did included a drop with a very tight turn at the bottom! the drop was so steep that no matter how tight i held the brakes on ( they were well set up by the way) i just could not stop before the turn and collected a five everytime! the new bikes fitted with a disc front end could pull up and make the turn ok. so back to the present day if people start fitting disc front brakes to there twinshocks its going to be cheating in some circumstances as described above!

Well said big John! Ive also got the suzuki beamish plus a ossa mar theres no way im going to start modifying these , they look fab plus work well as they are! ok the ossa's a 76 model so not as competitive as the majesty or suzook! but so what i love the bike for the styling plus its great fun to ride! why ruin the looks, some pre-65 bikes are now so modded they look ugly , IMHO!

Woody , I think you'd have hell of a job fitting a mono engine in a yam twinshock chassis because the rear engine mounts pivot with the monoshock! a mate tried to fit a mono re rising rate twostroke yam engine in a twinshock chassis and gave up because of above reasons!. Going back to mono's fitted with twinshocks i find it cheating as the mono yam is far superior in every way like you say engine/ forks/ much lighter/ slimmer / etc, etc, same as disc front brakes fiited to some tlr hondas , whats that all about??? I was tailking to Mick Andrews a couple of weeks ago! and he said the twinshocks are starting to go the same way as the pre-65's looking and riding nothing like when they were originally made! which is a shame, on the day i met him he had a go on my std (apart from larger footrests) yam 250 majesty and said it rode superb!!! no need to chop this and that, change forks, s/arm, it worked perfect as it was!
  10. looks a bit rough? like the original you mean?
  11. just looked at www.inmotiontrials.com new web site and noticed there doing brand new airboxs for ossa gripper's wasn't someone looking for one of these on here earlier?
  12. Thats right a mate has just got hold of a 199a seat from bultaco uk and says its a great fit and a superb copy of the original , even includng the embossed symbols?
  13. ok lads, ive deciced to stay with the standard set up (with poss b+j fork springs!) after mick andrews himself gave my bike a good workout!!! and said the forks were spot on as they were and not to bother with the mono front end? if anyone knows he should!
  14. dosen't when a certain company has staff that are so miserable and cant be bothered! its amazing they keep going!!! Daves the man for bultaco parts , a friendly service to!
  15. sorry dont know alot about these! but what i can gather engine spares are almost impossible for hiro engines! so i'd steer clear!
  16. sure belstaff jacket prices may be going through the roof! but the bikes from the seventies ie twinshocks arnt! strange world!

    Any Advice

setting what? youll need to be more specific than that?
  18. have to agree with all of the above! the bikes i always wanted i could never afford! i started out with my step dads ossa mar (borrowed!) back in 81, the lads where i used to ride used to have majesty's , suzuki 's, and a lovely kt250 all of these bikes i lusted after during my youth! it took over twenty years until i could afford the above bikes of my dreams! one by one i collected them up almost like a shopping list, some were total wrecks some were in top condition whatever i could find and what i could afford! theres two recent arrivels that took a lot of seaching out being a suzuki pe175 and yamaha it175 both 81 models and again two bikes i'd always wanted in my youth. like big john always said a gentleman can never have two many motorcycles!
  19. les gamble youve got a bargin with that bike
  20. Bloody Hell!!! never seen works kawasaki's like them before? the frames look totally different from the production versions? single downtube looks more like a bultaco chassis than a kt one? were the petrol tanks moulded plastic? anyone got some closer pic's?
  21. I have to come clean here guys, ive actually have one of these in my garage!!! but never riden it! as it needed a complete restore? its nearly done and looking at the feed back youve given i'd be more than happy to trail ride it (when i get the lights wired up!) ive got the majesty etc to do trials on so no big deal! thanks for the replies! still reckon its the best looking trials bike (with lights fitted!).
  22. was the kt 250 any good back in the 70's, i was to young to remember it coming out back then! must be one of the most beautiful trials bikes ever produced!
  23. Take a look at this! item number 180069194718 laugh or cry! the rear end on my gripper never looked like that!

    Majesty 250

pitley i use 40:1 comp 2 if that helps i wouldn't go leaner than 50:1 keeping in mind the engines aircooled! and belongs to the old skool of two-strokes ossa, bultaco ,etc!!!
  25. easy way to tell a godden frame from a yamaha converted is to look for the ty toolbox under the tank/top of engine frame rails! if the toolbox or space for it is there its a yamaha majesty, a godden wont have this present! i suppose the godden framed bikes are worth a bit more? i saw a fantastic chromed/godden framed majesty at the classic/twinshock show when it was first held at coventry it looked like a works bike!(anybody know it or who owns it? poss mick andrews? )
