    Beta Fan

Had a fellow recently that had same, as shorting the thermo switch did not work. Traced it to what appears to be an integrated regulator/rectifier unit under the steering head which was obviously melted from inside. Real pain to get to on these things, drop the rad and such, and not sure what years use them, think his was about ,04 vintage. Gives you something to go on, start cking the parts books or calling round to your dealer or importer as this is a specilized part and not common to others it seems. However, you must not skip steps in the process, ck the actual fan itself with 12 V dc direct if you want to insure it runs.
  2. Do those banners actually roll up? ie:postable? Or are they rigid?
  3. This can happen if your rear spring needs a bit of winding on the adjusters as well. Keep the rear sag(weight of bike) down to 20-30mm range at most.
  4. I have not looked in the new parts book, but I have run a bronze bush in lew of the bearing for the last couple years. Works a treat, and I have intentionally left it alone untill recently just to se how it would wear. I think it is the way to go, as the others do not last even if you keep them perfect, a good knock will damage them.
  5. Well, maybe you made some progress. I would still get a fresh plug in her. Be sure to remove the jets screws and blow through all passages in the carb, including the two small ones in the bore using carb or brake cleaner and air. A fine wire able to pass through the low speed jet is always helpful yey you may need to find one that small. The 2.5 turn setting on the dellorto fuel screw is not neccessarily bad, as it depends upon the pilot jet size and such, will vary on the day as well, but at least sounds as though it is in range. Be sure to remove the round banjo cover on the fuel inlet to the carb and clean that screen inside as well. Note angle if inlet prior to removing bolt..
  6. Sounds as though you had a good time! Most newbies just dab on flat ground!
  7. Mmmm, well I believe the VHST is similar to the PHBL on the 2T's in that the one with the spring visable is indeed the idle speed control and if the other is to your left and on the engine side it will be a fuel mix screr for low speeds(note not an airscrew) as the more you open it the richer it gets. I think I would try a new sparkie first. May have fouled on cold start choke. Misfire after that. Next would be giving the carb a good clean and blow. My initial thoughts anyway.
  8. A respectable 6th place finish! Good going Pat! What a tough group this is! Scores reflect the sevarity of the course as well.
  9. If the bike has a 28 Kiehin installed, seems they were coming in at between 1/2 and 3/4 turn out if properly jetted.
  10. Mine is always straight ang rigid, provides good protection for the rear disc when retracted! Never really liked the one with the kink in the middle!
  11. It's worth the drive just for the sh---ty beer! Drink all you like cause it has little alcohol in it !
  12. Those are indeed pretty darn Cool! Mmmm! I would like to remind a few that this is indeed an event originated by Trials Central and its members, none other, and should be treated accordingly! It IS a bit unique in itself, as not often(never) done or asked prior, and should be well supported by this group. Nothing but a pittance is being asked here! I do still think this should me moved to the General forum for greater exposure, with a front page link or something possibly.
  13. 1660km is not really bad in US terms for some or most travellers. I get the sense that they have over reacted on things as usual here! Seems most that stuff is in a rather narrow jetstream path at altitude, yet could mostly be excluded from the flight paths. If one is not catching excessive dust on the ground, there is little at low altitudes and cretainly not enough to stop transit. They do not stop flights to Arizona just because the wind blows! We get Red Sky here with dust storms! Good piston motors with real air filters may become popular once again!
  14. Screw them, they did not mention BEER one single time! Most those MX nuts are on something else!
  15. The standard setup on mine was ok at 45/125, yet this was never fine tuned, yet ok, and you would need to test it as I think you might want the main at somewhere about 118-115 for it to rev out really really clean. Needle second groove from top for starters. Pilot jet seems to vary upon taste a bit to either side. I think Smage was on a 48 and some run less. Try to keep the airscrew between .5 and 1.5 turns if you can. That should give you some basics, as thest things are bit jikky and set on the taste and the day. No simple rule that I know. Due to the high vacume on the smaller 24 OKO i am running, I had to take the main down to 105 for things to clean up pretty well and could go further. Runs good though. Never realized just how rich it was running on the main till I took it to TN and tried to climb some mountains under load in the mid range consistant! Still the smoothest 2.9 I have had, and very rideable. Just my tweet on it, as most do not need a 28 to begin with! The 26 or 28 will only be less progressive and more aggressive, not less powerfull untill one gets into the top range of 80-100% throttle. Seldome done for me. All this just an update to prior posts, good luck with the things, as they are an issue within themselves. Mark
  16. Best I have seen, they get plenty of gardening in upon inspection day! Many times for good reason too! Yet day of trial, it is what it is as far as i figure. And honestly I would just as soon keep the minders out untill their rider is in the section and does not have leisure to dick about, just go in, do your thing and get out. All that cluster-uck of having a buttload of riders and minders in the sections when and even other riders are trying to get in is a bunch of crap! Hopefully they find a balance to it all, as they put a clip on all that here in the NATC as well. If a minder needs to pre-position himself in a critical area, fine and should be allowed by the section observers as well under their rule. Others need to GTF out!
  17. Good news! Maybe some will not make it! HeHe! Does Dabster have GPS? Any dust there in the north, Slapshot?
  18. The alli one is meant to support the bike only, it works! Yet purpose built and fragile to abuse. A lazy rider trying to start the bike on the stand will bend a steel one too! Ask how I know this!
  19. An interisting little clip that a buddy sent of Girls Dancing! Seems to be mid 40's vintage or so, very nice! Some favtastic talent came out of the era, mostly all gone now, pity! Ck it Out Here!
  20. Hehe, I think you scared them! Ok then, just use diesel!
  21. I spoke with Ryan last week and he stated that all of the second shipment of bikes here were already sold and accounted for. Not sure if there will be more untill 2011 in the fall.
  22. I suspect this must be "Ed" I think it is? Do you this guy , Jon, I hear he is a real hard ass on the old guys!
  23. Correct me if I am wrong here Dabster, but do not these top guys get to spend the afternoon prior to the event on section inspection along with grooming? Filing their complaints and whatever if they feel it unsafe? Day of trial things do need to move along, dicking about with the top riders on the first loop and playing the waiting game is indeed a bit of gamesmanship, yet at the same time, they already have it down, just waiting for others to go first! They can see what they need from the boundry. Eyes like eagles these guys! Memory like it too! Wonder still about the minders/ catchers in the sections though?
