  1. Admit I don,t get around much on the facebook thing, but seen you pop up whilst putting up my comments of thanks to the others! Another good year to you Jake! Cheers,
  2. Q. What does a virgin and a balloon have in common? A. One prick and it's all over! ------- Q. What's the difference between your wife and your job? A. After five years your job still sucks. ------- Q. What do you get when you cross a rooster and peanut butter? A. A cock that sticks to the roof of your mouth.
  3. Well, you pretty much covered the Gassers! As a closet 4T fan, I like the Mont in many ways, yet they are a bit on the fat side. Never an issue tires on the earth! Front suspension great, yet mastering the clutch and power application is key. Have fun!
  4. It seems a bit limiting because of the common sump. You need a motor oil to properly lubricate the power side of things and ATF is not really designed for that. The delema is the clutch side of things, where the thinner ATF works with the lighter spring pressure. A bit of slippage in 4th or 5th is not the end of the world you know. Just depends on limits, as they are designed to slip. Top riders slip them hard all day long and they will take a beating. A bit of slip is nothing! Just don't intentionally burn them up! As the motor must be lubricated properly, a high grade synthetic 5-20 motor oil would be about your lightest grade to go with. This stuff takes a beating in the cars I work on, and survives, and is very common in todays motors. ATF is about 10W, but the 20 should still provide decent reaction(squish out)on the clutch side of things. I have other ideas as well if you want a follow on experiment. You are your own test pilot!
  5. Thanks mates, good to hear from you all! A wise old fellow once told me "Never complain about birthdays, it beats the alternative!" Fair day here today, so I got the quad and the Serow out of the shed to polish up a bit. With any luck I'll pack the Serow and the Sherco into the truck and head to Tennessee end of month for a few days riding. Saving b-day dosh for that!
  6. A 200 TXT is a really gentile 160cc bike, one in perfect shape may be a decent ride, but, I heard pistons are unavailable. Not bad for a learner bike. They had a lot of piston noise early on, sound kinda bad, but do work! The '02 Pro is not a good start. Find something else! Something like a Montesa 315 or Scorpa(250's) from that year range may be more up your alley!
  7. The gear shift mechanicals are no different from a 2T. What is the issue?
  8. Yea, don't you get that book they make called the Farmers Alminac or summat? Typacally more accurate seasonal forcasts! Not really sure who publishes it, some farmer I suppose!
  9. Are you sure you'r ok man? if you just got off a '09 250 Gasser, by the time you are back from the weekend, those bars will be the las thing bothering you! I hope you don't flick about much~!
  10. It is good if it is your daily work van! Cannot figure why you guys don't have pick-up trucks?

    66 Cub

It looks quite nice for what it is, yet I do not need another project! As it is said a '66 model, not quite sure who moved it to this thread,(Slap) but still ok. Must not qualify for Scottish P65 rounds as far as the numbers go, so I would closer to ripping down the(250lb) Serow than riding that POS in a trial! Some spend a ton on this stuff, yet seems the thing may be worth in partsbits more to some? Not for me.
  12. Well, as I do not have a schematic of your bike, I am at a loss. However I think that model may run the standard Ducati system which is powered by a single source coil(yellow wire) to power ignition and other stuff. If that is indeed the case, then a short to ground(earth) will indeed take the entire system down. Now dependant upon exactly where the rectifier is tied into the system(squarish box) if after the thermo switch, a shorted unit OR a bad fan could cause this. You could disconnect the rectifier, but the fan will not run without it. You can run the fan on 12V DC to test it independantly. I doubt the regulator would cause it(longish thing) unless it was regulating far too low, then being overwhelmed by demand, yey you can disconnect it to test things at idle as no overvoltage condition should be caused at that rpm. Hope that helps.
  13. Bet you warm up the missus with a bit of Fortran! No 69, just 77!
  14. No, more along the lines of , if you are on the Mont 4T, it is a good reliable mule, nothing wrong with that. The Sherco 2.9 is like a quick pony by comparison, and the new one should be even better! Yet for most, a good 250 will get you along just fine!
  15. It is all mostly bull**** you know! Just like putting corn fuel in the gas so you can use more gas! Farmers growing the gov corn instead of food corn. Lots are getting rich off the total BS while we pay. Mind I do think there are some decent air quality benefits to modern stuff. Most cars run clean, busses as well. No smoking choking crap! Must admit that I was a bit taken back by the article stating that it takes 18 of the top oceangoing ships to create more pollution than all the worlds cars. Dirty unregulated diesels the size of an apartment building and apparently totally unregulated on the oceans? **** fuel as well, anything that will burn from what I hear. The US regs on diesel cars and trucks has now gotton to the breaking point it seems. I cannot see it as sustainable in a money sense. Not to mention the systems are soo complicated that even elite techs(or mfg reps) cannot get their heads around the current problems with the crap. And even here, fuel quality is the big issue. Potential contaminants measured in microns can cost you thousands in repairs!.

    66 Cub

Someone not too far from here has this up on Craigslist. Whats it worth?
  17. Then tell him you have photo evidence that he is not keeping that inside arm straight and getting the weight out to prevent dabbing!!
  18. Ok, I'll give you one then! Do you know the difference between a mule and a horse? Pick your ride!
  19. Sounds like the correct stuff, although I have not used the Rock Oil brand.
  20. I think he is giving up being a Master Beta!
  21. Sorry, but I did not want to bury this one too deep in a dieing thread waiting for Ham to splat his screen again! This one is sort of a cult in herself, not popular but famous! Highly skilled on her writing and prose with a dynamic range. A real tease! When I first seen her many years ago, the simple fact she looks near like my highschool girlfriend shook me! Those promenant Canine's! This song just sends me back to that time. Seems most all she does is folkish enough for even the Scots to appreciate! Break Me! Thump Thump! Ham's Eggs ! For Addict!
