How the Fight Started!
One year, a husband decided to buy his mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift.
The next year, he didn't buy her a gift.
When she asked him why, he replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!"
And that's how the fight started.....

Best I recall on my '07 the shocker will not fit in a shaft up position due to clearances on the ends. Doubt the '08 is much different.
-
Did you get another 125 or what?
-
Cheers, your english is better than my spanish!
-
Been watching Caby's clips I see!
Quick study!

Four Catholic men and a Catholic woman were having coffee.
The first Catholic man tells his friends, "My son is a priest, when he walks into a room, everyone calls him 'Father'."
The second Catholic man chirps, "My son is a Bishop. When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Grace'."
The third Catholic gent says, "My son is a Cardinal. When he enters a room everyone says 'Your Eminence'."
The fourth Catholic man then says, "My son is the Pope. When he walks into a room people call him 'Your Holiness'."
Since the lone Catholic woman was sipping her coffee in silence, the four men give her a subtle, "Well....?"
She proudly replies, "I have a daughter,
slim, tall, 38D breast, 24" waist and 34" hips.
When she walks into a room, people say, "Oh My God."

Be sure you can hear the throttle slide hit bottom when you shut it! Should make an audible noise as it hits the stop! If so, then you may have an air leak in the rubber inlet between carb and motor .
-
Are you getting the alcohol induced fuels as well? Water can settle out of the alcohol and cause an emulsion with the oil in the fuel. Best to keep it fresh.
-
Not a bad bike, but Unless you are , lets say in pretty good shape and add an advanced rider in enduro or something, you would be better off with a good 200-250 bike, as the big sherco can be a bit much and may require a bit of taming. Can be done. Pick your poison!

After work, I'm sitting there gigling after touching all me teeth, told mate Joe to come over, read him the first line, look up, he just stands there!
Rest was not funny!
Seems you and Andy are taking "it" today!

Mmmmm, the mind reels here! Seals are the main problem with the stock setup, they are crap, allowing water and corrosion into the(roller) bearing.
The plain bronze bearings in themselves are not prone to it due to material alone. Only the steel bushings are succeptable. Reaction with the opposing bearing is nil.
This factor alone may suggest a much longer service life even without additional lube or fittings.
More thoughts later,

Nothing wrong with a Scorpa/ Yam, good build and smooth operator. Well supported over here by RYP and easier to find than most 250's. 250 Beta's or Gassers/ Sherco are more rare here, unless to get/ order a new one in.

I think there are a few riders up near you, would need to ck on the logistics of all that. Most anything can be had online quickly if there is no local dealer.
As far as tire pressures go, 3-5 in the rear, add 2-3 in the front all depending upon weight and conditions such as rock/mud/speed you are bashing things at!
Others(up north) may chime in here, you can probably find a decent late model 250 or so at a reasonable price as a good starter. The Scorpa/Yam is a good bike generally. Pick your poison here, but the bigger bikes may be great fun, but not conducive for learning trils skills on, too quick.
Cheers,
MC

When these things first came out I was told by Sherco/Mont the dealer that if you nackered up a fuel tank it was $600, came with pump. That little thought has stuck in my mind to this day, as it is all a matter of time really.
Not sure how they are doing it nowadays, but doubt they are cheap.
Still wonder how much crap in the bottom of that tank? Have you ever flushed it?
As I know little about these things honda, is the fan and thermo switch tied to the FI system at all on these?
-
RAF boys at it again! Next will be the hand cranked emergency generator!
-
OMG!
Bend over and take it!
Not much telling what's in the bottom of that tank?
-

-
Well there you go then. I am not sure those thermo switches are all that. I have only ever replaced one on another blokes bike, yet it seems they can do odd things. Best I can tell, there is nothing more in there than a bi-metal set of contacts, yet I have not disected one. I suppose if you had a repeated failure one might look toward a bad fan motor causing a high current burn-out, but if the fan seems normal speed i would not worry.
-
Good on you as you have it fixed now! Glad to get the report as this is a unusual situation. Thank you as well for your input! Good job man!
-
I am sure you are having great fun with that!
Just as a sidenote, latest 3'rd hand info from a TI development engineer suggests that everything may switch over to regular computer cables and screw can bus systems totally. Plug and play technology basically, for all configs!

"What's needed is a bike that falls somewhere between the Scorpa SY200 (or whatever it is) and the current 'big bikes'. Aircooled, uncomplicated 250 motor with gentle power delivery in a modern chassis would be perfect for most clubmen or novice riders. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be fashionable so it would never sell... "
Personally, I have had this same idea for years! I have nothing against the 4T's in a simple sense. They can be great fun to ride, yet is seems the perfect air cooled simple reliable motor has never been done for trials use. The little Scorpa/Yam in 175 version may be the closest thing that has ever been sold, yet it still seems far from ideal. That bike WILL perform! But requires a real rider to do it!
In a positive sense, a proper carb on a 4T can be done, and the Beta or the Sherco actually run quite well, with little to no hesitation or spitback. Bikes chug along and respond nicely. I do not think Honda ever really achieved that mark, they just went for the FI on the Mont.
Now lets see, If I could just get the 225 aircooled top off the Serow onto the Sherco or Beta bottom end? We might just have a winner!
Drop it in a mono or twinshock frame of choice, with real brakes! The little tractor would take most anyone anywhere they wanted to go, trials or trails.
Caby, Bou and others do not seem to have a problem finding traction on a 4T, although I will admit it is a skill thing, has a lot more to do with the left hand than the right!
The Gasser motor would probably be a working thing in many senses, yet never the world beater they want. What any of that has to do with the rest of us I do not know. Mont as example! They got the world beater, we still get crap! Or nothing at all! Screw them. Some may still like their bikes, yet I have little respect for how they have *******ized the brand through the marketing and price!
