To be honest , I never recalled anyone complaining about the clutches being too snatchy prior to '06. Although I do think the pro riders did complain that the clutch was too slow for them and some mods were done on their bikes, yet I have no real details. I never minded the older ones, with short levers. With the '06 bike, comments were made from some about the snatchiness! And I am not totally sure what changed, other than I suspect there was a change in the springs, yet I am not totally sure because I have no real good way to measure the rates on them. And as I no longer have the older version, I have no way of comparing the plates themselves. So we have what we have, and it is still up to the driver.

Doubt I would attempt anything that radical. Scuffing may well inhibit any cold sticking, yet I have found this even minimal with the light oil. The thicker oils are naturally going to be more difficult to break the surface tension on the plates when cold. Still always probably best to rock the bike in 4 or 5 gear with clutch pulled before startup till things rotate freely. Otherwise and even so, be sure one is pointed in a safe direction prior to placing into gear. Always bee safe with them!

I shall start preparing for my virtual PUB tour as soon as the new one arrives! I can turn out the lights in the shed and turn volume up, but when I start yelling the wifey thinks I an idiot! I can still slap her bottom and order a beer.! It is still PC! In FW(not Fort Worth Tx) I would just be an average bloke ,NOT standing out in the rain like an idiot, when(if) I get there! I do not have a Cowboy Hat! Just an Aussie flapper to keep the sun and rain off! Nothing proper for six days of friggin rocks, moors, rocks, rocks and rocks!(whatever you call them, burns my ass). Diesels are built in 2T and 4T versions as well. Look it up nutter!

I suppose technically, if the exhaust is leaking it could also suck in free air, which could throw things off a bit. Popping can be on either extreme of lean or rich, floaty idle is on the lean side. If jetting is correct and carby is clean, somewhere around 3 turns out on the fuel screw would get into the range. Too rich and they will blubber a bit when slowwly revved, too lean and they may hesitate when cracked and tend to float, find happy medium! Between 2.5 and 3.5 turns out usually, start with 1/2 turn differences. then narrow the range a 1/4 turn at a test, then 1/8! Everything right , they will still vary slightly and pop for you.

This is true, and also what I thought initially, untill the tensioner springs issue. I like the bike because it will chug(no Mont here) that low, yet it is still probably adviseable to keep the idle setting up a bit.

The shortie levers do have a longer mechanical advantage to the sweet spot on the lever, making them more progressive. Some have reported good success running the 15-50 wt oil in the box to slow the clutch a bit. I have been running the -2 springs, as I like the light lever feel, yet it seems as though one must revert back to the light ATF to get a full engagement POP when you want it. This setup seems to waver a bit depending upon how hard and fast one dumps the clutch, all a tradeoff. The thicker oil just seems too slow with -2, very smooth but slow.

I intend upon studying rocks for six days, then more beer in their honor! I hope by the time I make it over, they have live action shots in the local pub on a BIG flat TV! Webcams are a great thing!

You see! What fun! Follow them for a bit, they will even pick you up off the ground and put you back on your bike a few times, good kids!

May take a bit of adjustment on the fuel screw in warmer weather , bout 1/4 to 1/2 turn in to lean it a bit. Having voltage to the yellow wire is good! Now needs both a working regulator and rectifier to make fan work properly(along with thermo switch). Be sure both are in circuit, and you can test fan motor with 12 V battery if needed.

I heard that, nothing wrong with it as long as you aer still in one piece with a grin on your face! There does sometimes come a point when riders get too much! Heat and exhaustion can bring on mistakes and injuries! Putting your foot down will not kill you!
