  1. So you have verified the jet numbers directly corelate to a metric diameter in hundredths of a mm?
  2. Does he ride any real trials events?
  3. Top job Peter! You are always helpful to others and share your experiences! Not everyone does that. Of course there are a few such as JSE, if you ask the time, he will tell you haw to build a watch! Sounds like a neat thing that little jet reamer! I have never done it, but when you get to a few of the old hands, I have even heard of them soldering them back up to start over if too large! To tell you the truth, in my years of messing with these things, I have never directly corrolated jet size with a real unit of measure such as thousandths of an inch in bore or hundredths of a mm. Maybe a relationship to flow rate, which is really what it is about? To me, they are just relative numbers for a specific application. Would you know what the numbers actually mean? I am not sure if it is not just simply flow related such as ml/min/hg but i donot know! Call me stupid! Next question, is the unit of measure standardized accross the industry?
  4. OOh, we got the first Challenger in over the weekend! It was a Black Beauty! Lasted half the day before someone paid $10,000 over list price to get it! It is, well, just overpowering in its presence compared to an Audi! Sex on wheels, you might say! Hard core NBS(nasty booty sex), strictly by comparison!
  5. Get the proper stuff! You will be glad you did!
  6. That's the kinda stuff I'm talking about Glenn, not to mention normal obsticles like Dogs, and car parts that sudenly materialize fron benieth the car in front of you! And that can be on a good day! And my 9 lives thing came about long before my total deal, when a few years ago I witnessed this fellow on a 1300 Honda slip and flip it off a S turn before a creek bridge. Yea, he wound up down in the water, broken neck, not much I could do except for drag him out and wait for the paramedics! I was the only one there, he could have not been found for weeks! 1/2 second and gone! End of story! I just always wonder if reason overcomes stupidity, or it just needs to balance out!
  7. 250 Ninja? I bet he swaps his plates over when on that little pos! Hell, I would! And I really do not want anything that revs to 14 grand! That is why a lot of the MX guys are going back to 2T's! Friggin things will eat you alive in maintenance costs! It can be fun buzzing around town though, in a trivent! I may get rid of the Suzy 250 quad, it never gets ridden anyway(wify and daughter). Father in law has a Gold wing, I can use it anytime if I want to punish myself! It IS a sweet bike, though! He just got back from Canada on a 3K trip, telling horror stories and all that! Nuts! He's one of them type that has a flat in Montana because he was too cheap to buy a tire! Just nuts! Oh well!

    Xispa At French Wtc?

Word is the Beat shochers are now available rebuilt at half cost! What a deal! May be what they are using!
  9. I want a piccie of Biff on that thing six monthes from now! It could be the only bike to make it to work! Fact is, people drive like idiots mostly! Here in the DFW metro area, there are no posted speed limits over 60, but they drive like nuts anyway! When much younger, I rode bikes on the street for years. Enough near death experiences has given me due respect. Not to mention the fact that sitting in traffic in sweltering heat is not much better than freezing your butt off! I hope Biff does not get taken out by an Escalade with Dubs! I figured him for a Honda 90, as they trials those things! I admit I have been tempted by a couple of bikes, I like the Suzy V-stroms , and even on a dirty bike sense, I kinda like the, what is it, XT 250 Yam? little air cooled four banger, normal seat height, normal suspension, just putt around type of riding, sorta reminds me of the old days when you could actually SIT on an enduro bike! And still run down the road at legal speeds! Still, by the time I figure out how much actual use I will get, and after licensing, insurance and maintenance costs, I have not saved anything! It is a false economy, just like these folks that are soo upside down on their SUV,s that the current hicky on a trade in will pay for several years worth of fuel costs compared to a s---t box little car! You could even pay a $10,000 premium for a Hybrid! Gee, I really am saving on that! Get out of here! I need a beer now! Later,
  10. Ronnie, the real Andy is currently featured in the "name the rider" pic on the SSDT threads. He is the tall fellow with keen eyes always looking for something. In that piccie I think he may be looking for alka-seltzer! In TN he was eyeing snakes! Andrew is the one you need to butter up to! Give him one of your autographed posters, stand there and smile politely! With any luck he will shell out a few shingles just to get you to leave!
  11. Yea, you got it, remember that? To tell you the truth, I could not do it then and I cannot do it now, but we did cruise along so many years at 60, that when things changed, 70 seemed REALLY fast for a cruise speed on the interstate. And even today, a cruies speed ov 70 on some two lane blacktops can be Really exciting! If you snooze, you may loose, bigtime! 1750 rpm yields a wopping 62 mph in the big Dodge TD! Seems lately I travel light, bike in back with minimal gear. No trailer! 23mpg! Kick it up to say 68, it will cost you a mpg or TWO, cost another at 72mph, cost another at 75!!! Makes you think, when diesel is near $5 per gallon! On the other hand, seems many of the local trials gurus have decided that two day events are the way to go , for both the club and riders in a monitary sense. Seems the local one day may become obsolete! And I think the entire thinking about those sections may change as well. I still find it a bit hard to fathom just how they do the Euro events as one day events, all the work, all the travel? Yes they may run the ladies on Sat. but? The typical NATC schedule was canned this year and I think we may see more adjustments. Thoughts?
  12. Watch out for those Itialian girls Ronnie!
  13. Biff, since I have been blessed with a extra spare set of the small originals, I will share! They have TREADS! PM me your address! God, I hate tho see these go on a gasser! But I still like you!
  14. I have no idea whats up with K, as i still cannot make out his photoshop work of the tosser, but the rest are hilarious!
  15. Iselph, I have the same problem. It is more physical than it may look, coming foreward and compressing the forks while unloading the rear and using a little blip of clutch and throttle at the same time. Timing is key! Takes lots of practice! If it were easy everyone could do it!
  16. As a bit of of a follow up, here is a quote from PeterB re the usage of the K carb on the gasser and his input! " You need a 28mm flat slide Keihin, 122 main, 35 pilot, GJH (Best) or JJH needle. Also need a longer throttle cable (inner) that was used on the older 370 GG model and you must use an in line fuel filter. Bye, PeterB. " I think Peter is a pretty good ratchethead, and offers good suggestions. Point being, when you take in variations in bikes even, the resultant opinions can be very similar. Well, the motors are very similar really, specially when you are focused to the volumetric requirements of a given displacement at a given useful rev range the results are near identicle. Then comes the rider, and personal prefs, and will the setup be right for them! Is it too aggressive? In other words, if Peter or Clav threw in a 45 pilot with a JJH needle set in the mid, will the bikes then become overly sensitive for the riders? Who in fact are not Caby or others running this setting. Those guys like it RIGHT NOW! What happens then, in reverse? In fact, I have noticed the more aggressive the rider, the fewer throttle settings they use, the application is all in the clutch side of things, which totally negates all ! They simply do not seem to care after a point! Tell me if I am off the nut here!
  17. I think there are a lot of folke on this forum who bend over backwards to help others. Years of experience from a lot of people that have been there and done that! From amatures to pros! We also share a lot of houmor, many of either know each other in person or through this site, even on an international basis. We have something in common, riding, organising, fixing, observing, photographing, whatever! Sometimes I wish there was more feedback from others on points, good or bad, because I know there are folks out there reading the tech stuff. And yes, trials is a tough game to play, it takes (intestinal fortitude)sp? It does not pay money, either! But I would pay money just to go ride! Does that make sense? Only if you are a rider, I suppose, or other part of this sport. You may not like the answers you get or give, but the trials lot is very likely the best bunch you may ever meet. Shut up and ride! Ride what you brung! Quit your bellyaching! Just do it! Get over it! You never find politicians in a battlefield, however, a battlefield can build politicians! M2C
  18. If lever is adjusted properly, yet you still get too much creep when the lever is pulled in, it is likely your plates are warped a bit. These things recieve a lot of abuse, and dependant upon just how much it annoys you, a fresh set of frictions and steels will keep you happy for a long time, well usually. Someone like Smage, for example, may go through a couple of clutches per year as I understand, but usually that is not the case. I do think the 125's are much harder on clutches btw.
  19. Seems a lot of folks are not very much inclined toward the technical stuff. And that is ok, as we all had to learn at some point, some way! That is OK, but there are not always simple answers, if it were, it would Borus
  20. Sherco spec. for the disc is 185mm.
  21. Good stuff there Clav, not boreing at all, nor redundant, as I never really messed with the K carb that much. It runs fine at the stock settings, just too much power(for me). Add the fact that it takes a lot of time and money to start playing with guestimates. If I knew I could tone the thing down with the K installed, I would consider it, although I still do not like the tight fit, seems no way to keep the thing off the engine case even gringing down the little nub helps little. I too think the ping at about 1/4 throttle has been an unaddressed issue even with the Dellorto. Understand, I consider the Dellorto to be the best carb that $15 can buy, but it does work, and as far as I know of last, Smage still runs it on the 2.9 and probably the 1.25 as well. At last check, Paxau only likes the K for the power riders. Thus the Caby setup. I have not ridden the '07 Caby, just a '06. I suppose you could say my bike, a 2.9 runs more like a 2.5, a smooth 2.5. Smooth floaters important? This thing is dialed in! Sounds like your airscrew setting style is spot on to me. I will bet back later for more chat!
  22. Sounds like you had a bit of fun playing with it! How much movement was that on the plate with the timing change? The only downside to a timing advance is that it may be more prone to stalling at low revs. You just need to put it in a section to see. A couple of those can ruin your day! Have fun!
  23. If no one else I know, other than Les makes it down there, then Steve is safe with the beer! And Brian will have to step up and try at least one! If Kimbles goes along, Steve may have to dig deep! You will have to find the Texas boys, they can drink some beer!
