  1. @ cello RE that crack , to worry or not to worry that is the question I have had motors that had the same near a bearing housing and just left them like that fitted a new bearing and nothing bad happened. If you follow konrads advice and freeze the bearing over night before heating the casing you won't risk making it worse. Unless you are going to weld it and machine it yourself or know some one who can it will get expensive and you may as well look to buy a complete gearbox and casings off ebay etc to get a lot more for your money. If the bearing outer race turns in the housing just use a liquid bearing retainer adhesive such as Loctite 641. Regards Alan.
  2. JITSIE made BETA EVO disc spacers/bobbins have these measurements TOP HAT BRIM = 14mm , BOLT HOLE = 6.30mm , DISC LOCATOR BUSHING AREA = 10.20mm . The clutch pressure plate should be under spring pressure and clamping the clutch pack together it should not waggle , if you are referring to the clutch basket moving then that would be movement in the bushing or perhaps the nut that holds it on is loose?. Best of luck. Regards Alan.
  3. @cello www.betausa.com Trials support service manuals EVO 2009- 2015 service manual the motor is very similar to the techno so use that as a guide .Techno details are harder to find now.

  5. A farce if you do a farce if you don't . A farce it is then. I think I am just going to start stopping and hopping it at no stop events as no one seems to think stopping is a problem and I quite like the stop allowed rule which is beneficial in some of the very narrowly marked club trials routes sometimes. thanks for everyones input. Best wishes Alan.
  6. You may find it hard to believe but I think you are absolutely right about not having another route and for all the reasons that you have listed .So to stop the farce of people stopping and observers allowing a 3 when they clearly fived it because they feel sorry for them just make the event stop allowed and there won't be any nonsense of making the rules up as they go along or perhaps men can be women depending on who is deciding. Its all very confusing, as they say rules are made for breaking. Best wishes Alan.
  7. I understand your concern about ruining the event I am not suggesting two lines just have an exit point in the section before the super hard stuff for those that clearly are not at that level of riding, it would save time for all and be less of a farce. The real point is trouble with all the stopping in the sections in a supposedly no stop marked trial the top riders can keep the bike going because they have the skills but also because of their fitness level being higher than the average rider. The two routes suggestion is only based on that or the easy way is just mark it stop allowed and the same at club trials that are run as no-stop , all I seem to see is people stopping but the results do not show those fives. To me that is just a farce what is the point of the rule if it is that flexible IE whatever you fancy.
  8. @lemur I Absolutely agree with you regarding the points you make although speaking specifically on the SSDT 2025 out of 280 odd riders a lot of the sections over the week are really only suited to about 25% of that number hence the constant stopping that is seen in the videos perhaps it is time the vast majority of the entry were given their own shorter more manageable sections within the same areas marked out for the 25% that actually can make a good attempt at the present more challenging route. that is obviously designed especially to suit approx 5 riders who are fighting for the win.
  9. If any one cares to engage by watching this video starting at 2mins 12seconds you will see rider 145 making a valiant attempt in the section for a well earned 3 marks lost. And followed by many more well fought for 3 mark losses , they would have been 5s but they felt sorry for them.
  10. Hello trapezeartist to me that interpretation sounds very similar to the no stop rules in the past in the FIM WTC. When will this nonsense stop if they just made all trials stop allowed it would help every one because if you momentarily stop then you have stopped and if the trial is under no stop allowed rules then the mark is 5 lost surely . if you are flexible about this then the rule is not being followed and if you are going to let people stop without penalty then you are using the rules of stop allowed. No wonder the World is in the state it is in after all no one seems to know what a woman is these days so it is no wonder they think that stopping is exactly the same as moving. I do not think their is much point to having the rules if you then move the goal posts around because you feel sorry for people because they have put a lot of effort into riding the section . I think it may be just me as I saw some riders at a club trial recently that were riding a no stop event but were fully stopping and hopping and also actually purposely following a line outside of the marked section in order to ride up a step on an easier trajectory this happened right in front of an observer and these rides were not marked as fives , using your interpretation of the no stop rule I can now understand why this happened.

  13. Trials marking is out of the window, not surprising I suppose when the World seems to be full of liars as in people lying to themselves such as what the meaning of the word non-stop is. The spectators at the SSDT all clapping the many obvious 5 marks lost of the majority of the entry , perhaps people think that if a rider manages to travel from the section start to section ends cards means that the 5 marks lost for stopping/reversing 20 times while doing that should not apply because they feel sorry for them. Well as they say 'nevermind'.
  14. I just watched a video of day 3 of the SSDT is this event stop allowed these days? .
  15. @RonH Hello , have you checked that the hole in the Bleed valve is clear of debris and that it has not been deformed at the tip by over tightening . If everything else is fine then that could be your problem, also sometimes they need opening quite a few turns before they will allow fluid to flow well. Best wishes Alan.
  16. You used a confused emoji on something I posted above. ie I said that the things you own end up owning you.
  17. @ stou yeah mmmm try this https://youtu.be/tB_bFTSqaBk?si=zyf8QOXMzubzuNpk
  18. Undo the lock nut on the lever with a 10mm spanner and unscrew the adjuster screw to allow the master cylinder piston to touch the circlip and thus open the circuit to the reservoir. if that does not work you have a blockage somewhere.
  19. Its stunning . All that work and then fits those tyres . I suppose it will give the new owner something to do. Tarting things up is great until the thing gets used for its intended purpose, painting plastics is never a good idea on an off-road bike but even the manufacturers like BETA and SCORPA used to do it but at least they are using industrial duty products that have some chance of survival for a while. Never mind you cannot knock the levels of effort. So a Gold star for that. Well done.
  20. A little late perhaps but there is no step , just push/pull them out with heat etc do not hammer on them its not the best of methods. pressing them out hydraulics is the best/easiest way obviously.

  22. Hello yes that is the set up it should have and if you have the correct amount of weight added to the standard 125cc flywheel and the correct jetting in the carb that you are using then your jerky take up is more than likely the ultra low gearing of 9/48 that feels horrible in my experience. it is quite normal on a more modern trials clutch to slip the clutch at slow speeds in order to smooth out bikes movement and so it may just be your technique as an in experienced rider. but I think you will benefit greatly from changing your sprockets to 10/42 on your 225 , as a comparison a 250cc GasGas Pro has standard sprockets set at 11/42 and standard sprockets for a GasGas 125 Pro are 9/44, 9/48 is 125cc only and was popular with schoolboy riders on GasGas and Sherco 125 cc machines because it made the use of 3rd and sometimes 4th gear possible . Anyway you will be the judge of that. Hope it works out for you . Best wishes Alan.
  23. @Steveyboy Oh this may be of use to you , if you need a new piston you want to buy the 250cc TXT EDITION version made by S3 as that piston has a 16mm gudgeon pin to fit the shorter length 125cc Con Rod and that EDITION piston is the one that is in the kit when bought new , The 225cc cylinder is just a 250cc PRO cylinder with 5mm cut off the top of it but you cannot use the 250cc piston for the PRO model as it has a 18mm gudgeon pin.
  24. @Steveyboy This is what the specs were when the 225 kit came to market as used by a man referred to by most as Factory Kev who was the head mechanic at what used to be GasGas UK when John Shirt was the importer , he is still around working on bikes as far as I know you may find him on Facebook?? His name is Kevin Hipwell. he helped design the 225 conversion and used to ride one in competitions himself . Anyway here is the basics from my notes at the time: Gearbox sprocket 10 teeth Rear sprocket 42 Teeth Fly wheel weight 1020grams Jetting on a Dellorto PHBL BS26 is same as a 125cc bike pilot being a 36 but change the main jet from the standard 125 jet which is a 105 to a 110 for the 225cc , If you want to run the bike with a Keihin PWK28 pilot is 45 or 48 and a main jet of 118. That is it really The 225cc must have the heavy 1020g flywheel weight fitted or it will be too responsive perhaps you dont have one fitted as they have been un obtainable brand new for years now , they were interference fit and had to be heated before fitting to the 125cc flywheel and when it cooled it gripped although for better security it was recommended that some spot welds were placed on the join seated area ,although that could cause the unit to be un balanced which is bad for the motor. As you cannot get the flywheel weight you will have to make or get one made by modifying a 250cc one that are available and produced by a company called S3 , you can find these at the importer JSM Motorcycles @ their web shop www.trialendurodirect.com. When you have done all the right mods the 225 works great not jerky but very smooth on take up . Best wishes Alan.
