    whirring

does it hurt to run it like that? Performance is great, and is the fix permanent? You'd think if the crank twisted it would run different?

Also, I just got the bike, and it had the clutch basket removed and that seal replaced, could it have been assembled wrong? I usually do my own wrenching, but it was done before I received the bike so I don't know what was done? And I'm brand new to scorpa.

I hope its not either, the bike runs super, compression, power, clutch, its all great, just a sound coming from the shifter side case.

    whirring

My 02 sy250 is making a loud whirring noise from the clutch, not the typical scorpa noise, something different, changed fluid and everything.
  6. I probably won't make it to m.d., but the rest of them for sure, I'm having a few bike issues. Most senior riders ride the senior classes wich would be support line, but anyone can ride clubman. And I'm not so sure about refunds, I'm guessing its possible, I know I only wanted to ride a national to say I did it, now I'm hooked! It is amazing! I may consider riding clubman line on my 76 cota, that will be a treat!
  7. It is set up for sportsman to ride all sportsman and ex-sportsman to ride half of them, but if you have placed in the top 3 at any district event in intermediate then you should be fine, I'm just an average rider and I ride sportsman fine. Not any hopping or anything. (At least not at any n.y. events). Clubsman is more novice if you ask me, or a 3 line for vintage. My buddy rides nov. In d6 and he places middle of the pack. He rode the clubsman line and got 2nd first day and 1st second.
  8. I say go with sportsman, I ride int. Class and I had no trouble at all with any of the sections, they aren't as tight as d6 sections. Just fun riding
  9. july 27th is old school vintage's first vintage event with our new club! hope some of you vintage riders will check it out! it's part of the mavt series, it will be held at morgan valley farms in williamsport pa. (actually nippenose valley) there is camping and food and a really good event laid out! hope to see you guys there!..............john
  10. they do exist, my good friend has 196? triumph cub that he rode the year it was made and won the u.s nationals on, he has one that is original restored and the one he still competes on today, but it has a few mods. on it, thinner tank and different bars etc. and he still wins today on it and he just turned 67!.....................john
  11. does anyone know how jon michael minteer made out? he rode beta and i think he rode the youth support line?any ideas would be appreciated.........................john
  12. so are we turning the plate clockwise or counter?i did mine but don't remember, but my 06 never kicked back, at least not like my 75 sherpa-t does. (ouch!)
  13. hebo bar ends! the throttle side has a bearing for the end of the throttle tube so it rolls smooth without coming in contact with the bars, and it has a 10mm gap between the end of the tube and the bar end so if you do slam it, it won't mess up your throttle response! i've kept the same set for 3 bikes i've owned! they are well worth it, just like j-pegs........................john
  14. that same thing happened to my 06 olle shock, i was at an event ready to start and i did a nose wheelie and it clunked! tore the threads right out of the base! r.y.p sent me a new base and i got it recharged all for 100.00 bucks! i had to borrow my buddies 03 shock for a week but it has been fine ever since!................john
  15. jon michael is too busy testing out his drivers liscense to change out the old fluid and try new to see if water got in there somehow, but as far as my sherco not starting, jerry (young) had the carb set up really lean and he filed the slide, he swapped me his 07 carb for my 06 and the bike starts second kick cold, even in the winter, i'm not knocking beta at all , actually i'm considering a brand change but i want to be sure they are trust worthy, his 07 he sold was about beat after a season,(his beta) i want a bike i can keep for years and have minimal maintenance, my sherco is that way but i really like the way the beta performs, i had a 99 techno that couldn't be beat, actually i bought about 4 cooling fans from you, i just needed something newer and sherco was what i got, i just had a few concerns about the fluid being pink, my techno did that and the impellar fan was stripped and the coating from the inside was bunched up around it, and i needed to replace the seal to the motor, the problem just seemed similar, but as far as function and performance, sign me up for one next year!
  16. here's a good one! my buddy has recently become a beta dealer in the u.s, i ride sherco and love it, no problems at all (with the bike or with the dealer) his son is riding an 08 and he let me try it out at our first event, it actually worked very well! i was actually almost convinced to switch to beta til the end of the event when i looked at the oil fill site and it went from red to allmost all white? it was overflowing out of the tubes also? this happened on my techno also, but his 08 has about 10 hours of ride time on it, so it already has problems with the coolant getting into the bottom end of the motor and it is brand new! the event was dry with no creek sections so i think i will trust my better judgement and stay with sherco, as much as i like the feel of the beta it's not worth all of the headaches down the road, it's almost like hit or miss with those bikes, you may get a good one or you may not?.........................john
  17. yeah they are, and the half backs really help to get your rear tire to hook up, i'm always watching my buddy wrestle his o6 on hillclimbs and stuff, and are bikes are generally the same, other than the pegs, he even weighs a bit more than me and i'm always buzzing by him and he's stuck slipping, i tried his bike and it wasn't him, it seems like there is no weight over the rear with stock pegs, and they are very narrow, and brittle, thats why i got the j-pegs, both my stock ones were broke on the inside! j-pegs are indestructable!!!! if you bend the outer cage take it off and beat it back to shape and you are good, you really have to whack them pretty good to even bend the cage, I love em, they will be coming with me on my new bike!......................john
  18. if the seals were bad when you give it gas it would bog and run crappy on idle, but when you rev it, it would run fine, sounds like a carb issue to me? i had a 99 techno with a similar problem, what fuel are you using? my bike ran like crap with just pump gas, it would ping and run kinda like you are describing,i bought some vp red racing fuel (wich is 105 octane) and mixed it half with pump gas and it instantly ran great, check the slide on your carb, make sure it moves freely, and make sure the spring that sets in the slide isn't wrapped around the cable, that is known to make the throttle stick a bit, it's worth checking cause sometime you will crack it wide open and it will stay there! very scary!!!!.......john
  19. mybike is an 06 2.9, it is the best bike i've owned, no maintenance (other than the usual basics), the only thing that has been broken are fenders and levers other than that no wrenching just riding, i only wish i could repack my silencer ................................john
  20. for some bad a.. graphics go to www.bukugraphics.com, they are located in the u.s but generally ship anywhere, they do # plates, banners, trailer graphics, i have them on my 06 sherco with 08 plastic, i have an all white and red color scheme, vry durable and priced right, i have the only sherco in our club thats not even close to sherco colors or design..............................john
  21. i felt the same way about the 2.9 having too much sh..! i went to a black throttle, then i did the timing, got v-force reeds, went fat with the jetting, and after getting used to it i got rid of it all, (except the v-force reeds) and after a month or two of a pooch i jacked my bike up in to a scream machine! quick throttle leaned out carb., and the best mod. a set of j-peg half back foot pegs! your whole center of gravity changes! you don't feel like you are on stilts, my guess is to keep the bike stock change your pegs and get used to the power, well maybe keep the black throttle!................................john

    What Oil

if you have a beta fill it til the eye glass is 3/4 the way full, i always use maxima 75wt. wet clutch oil and it works great no slip or grab or anything just smooth sailing and you should get 2 changes out of a quart for about $10.00 u.s. i see your profile thing says sherco, that gets 450cc's of fluid i also heard that mobil 1 10w40 was good to use also...............................john
  23. hey andy! lookin forward to another gate trials! anyways, i've had this problem and alls i did was buy a sherco! no i got a master cylinder rebuild kit, then i re built my caliper, there is little o rings inside and if they aren't right then it will suck air, is your brake line in good shape? even the slightest pin hole will be a problem, i just did rear brakes on an 87 tr 34 beta and thought it was gonna end up like yours, keep the reservoir about full no cap, have your adjustment about half way, pump it up a few times and make sure the master comes all the way down, crack the bleeder but only half a turn, and repeat the process almost like forever and it should get tight, but don't be afraid to pump it up 8-10 times, it is a rather simple set up, it can only be 3 things cable, master or caliper, another thing to try is take the caliper off the bike take the pads off, unscrew the cable and apply a small amount of air to te hole where the cable goes in, it will pop the pucks out and you can make sure they are seated properly, other than that like i said buy a sherco!.......................john
  24. sounds to me like your master needs attention, my beta did the same thing and i had to order a rebuild kit for it, if that leaks it is continuously breathing air every time you push on the pedal, or maybe some dirt got in there from the cylinder relaxing all the way when you took the caliper off and released the pressure, i'd clean it real good and try it again and if it fails order a rebuild kit......................john
