  3. In our case it was quite simple. Cost. ACU is more expensive plus they demanded i police the riders having up to date current competition licenses for them while with the AMCA you dont need a license. As with most clubs we struggle for entries and i couldnt afford to turn people away. On top of that was all the stupid politics and meetings etc you had to attend while the AMCA just leave you to get on with it. Other clubs make their own decisions but thats in a nutshell why we changed over. As for Wallo's question "So why does it need two governing bodies?" it doesnt but there are.
  4. Dont know. Ive just sent my 2017 calendar out to the other two Classic clubs in this area. Expecting to see copies of theirs soon. When we were an ACU club you had to go to a "dates meeting" where this was discussed however this was in November for the following year. Problem was the "nationals" werent announced till early the next year when you had all agreed dates and confirmed to landowners. That was just the East Midlands Center. Then only a few miles away you had the Yorkshire Center who never discussed with the East Midlands and of course all the other Centers didnt either. Thats why we suffered from date clashes and still do. Now we are AMCA nobody from the ACU clubs or otherwise talks to us anyway. Always said it would come down to "last man standing".

  7. MP and REH were pretty awful in their day. In my opinion not worth the bother of trying to sort. Sell them on e bay and fit a decent pair of Marzocchis. You wont regret it.

  9. Deryk can you please tell me where i can get the reed valve modification done for my 32A i'm genuinely interested. Thanks.

  11. Looks good to me Just one question hope you dont mind. Why fit a Mikuni ? Just that it limits the places where you could use it. Not criticizing just wondering that's all. Nice bike though i hope you enjoy it. Mines STILL in the gestation stage run out of money and time

  13. I had a brand new one on my old TY250. Sold the whole bike for £750 story of my life
  14. Not taking sides in this one but lets assume ronwright that your name was Rupert Ratio for example and you had written a book collating loads of useful information about building and running BSA unit singles. How would you feel if people instead of buying your book gave away the information you had spent all that time and effort collating and then writing up and publishing for free on a website ? Just a POV
  15. Might be a good idea to use security bolts too. Oh and if you are intending to use tubeless tyres then when you get your wheel rebuilt make sure you use a tubeless rim. Dont know how many spokes the Norton hub uses as i am assuming you are going to use the Norton nub but most are 36 hole so best to check availability of rims to suit your hub.
  16. Just like to put the record straight and also allay anybodies worries. Contrary to rumors emanating from another Classic trials club in the area our trial tomorrow Sunday 26th July is most definitely on. I have been down at Longcliffe Tops laying out yesterday and today. I do wish people wouldn't start rumors for whatever reason. So please come down and enjoy Longcliffe Tops its a great venue 4 x 2mile laps all off road and fantastic views of the Derbyshire Peak National Park. Start time 11.00 am as usual.

Set deep in the Derbyshire Peak District. Come along and enjoy the fun.
  18. We used 25 : 1 back in the day but with modern oils i would think 50:1 would be fine. Most of the 2 strokes of the day run on 50:1 with modern oils with no problems at all. Will have to be your decision though as i take no responsibility for your motor if you follow my suggestion.
  19. Basically something for everyone. Been up there today laying out and the course is dry and in great condition. Start time as usual is 11.00am hopefully see you there and please bring an observer if you can. Cheers
  20. Definately in good nick. At one time you couldnt move for cast iron barrelled, like yours, and big fin alloy barrelled Sprites and they certainly did their part in introducing a lot of people into this wonderful sport. My local club Peak classic has introduced a class for these along with many others from the late 60's and early 70's called "forgotten era". If you are local to Derbyshire then pop along to one of our events for a chat
  21. Hi Ken I know in trials when you ride out through the section markers and back into the section again it's a 5 what happens in classic scrambles?
  22. Won twice. Sounds competitive to me. Keep riding it. It's what they were meant for. Each to their own. Ride what gives you the most pleasure. Be boring if everyone liked the same thing.
  23. Good post. Sounds like your bike is competitive anyway so don't see the problem or why you don't ride it.
  24. Just wondering did you buy a Drayton in the end?
