  1. If you had the old ones, you didnt say if you had, i'd have got them relined with a modern soft material. Would be much better than std grade stuff.
  2. I always just turn some up out of "bright" steel bar and drill them M6. Got sick and tired of Ossa and Montesa with M7 screws that you could never get hold of. Easy to do.
  3. Dont quite understand. The 4 speeds use electronic ignition mounted where the stator used to be and you just modify the relevant 3 speed outers to fit. You dont change the crank. B175 is much better crank anyway.
  4. Is it just the cover, which can easily be changed, or does it have a dynastart crank ? If so it will need changing as not viable to modify them. Used to be able to pick them up for next to nowt because the crank and crankcases nobody wants them. Barrel and head got to be worth £300 all day.
  5. All depends on what parts you need. I would have said Steve Sell but he doesnt seem to be answering his phone lately. Definitely go to the main auto jumbles especially Telford. A lot of stuff can be sourced from Spain and the US. That tank will possibly be worth some money to a restorer. Id fit an alloy one from a later model but your choice,
  6. Important news !!! Due to the fantastic response we received for our Easy / Beginner trial last weekend and after all the emails i have received asking when the next one is we have decided to slot one more in this season. So here's a date for your diary August 26th at Carsons farm, Grange Mill, Nr Matlock, Derbyshire DE4 4HY. Start time 11.00am entries close 15 mins prior to the start. Venue opens at 9.30 am. Mick Andrews has kindly agreed to run another of his "A Day with Mick" training days full of tips on bike set up along with group and individual feedback on improving your riding technique. Everybody said they had a fantastic time last weekend with Mick and we are so grateful that he has agreed to do another one for us. If you are interested in spending the day with one of the nicest guys in the world of trials then get your name down because places are limited to the first 10 names. Also payment must be made in full by 7 days prior to the event to ensure your place. Price for the trial is £16.00 per rider and for the Mick Andrews experience its £28 for Club Members and £30 for non members. Observers will be made most welcome. Dont worry if you have never entered a trial before because the sections will be kept very much on the easy side.

One of the friends of Peak Classic Trials Club has generously offered to take a group of up to 6 of the beginners round and give them tips, advice and some tuition on the beginner route. Open to the first six who sign up on the day when they sign on. So pleased one of the expert rider's has offered to do this. Fabulous opportunity as he will guide you around the lap for the whole trial.
  9. Everybody entered on the Mick Andrews training day running concurrently with our Easy / Beginner trial at Carsons Farm, Grange mill, Nr Matlock, Derbyshire DE4 4HY. Signed off the A5012 Cromford to Buxton road approx 1.5 miles past the Holly Bush Inn crossroads heading for Buxton. If you could try to arrive by 10.00am then that would be great and you can all get to know each other before the start and start the training day on time The trial will be running in a seperate part of the woods and will start at 11.00am prompt so please aim to arrive around 10.00am for that event too. The venue opens at 9.30 and there is loads of parking in the field so dont worry See you there
  10. For all our friends and supporters i have just updated our website to include results from Sundays trial along with current 2018 Club Championship standings. For more in depth details please visit our clubs website www.peakclassic.co.uk Cheers
  11. Cooks wood is approx 1 mile outside Youlgrave. There isnt a post code because the wood doesnt have one. If you look on a map and approach Youlgrave from the main Matlock to Bakewell road and proceed through the village. Once you have left the village with the allotments on your right you come to a Y junction so take the right hand road. Approx 200 yds in front of you on your right is Cooks wood. Just turn in through the gate and park up. Hopefully see you there
  12. Dont forget this Sunday 20th May we will be holding Round 5 of the 2018 Club Championship at Cookes wood, Youlgrave, Nr Matlock. DE45 1UW which is the Farmyard Inn in Youlgrave is the nearest post code i have as the wood itself doesnt have one. Start time is as always 11.00am and i have been up there today and the venue is in superb condition and the weather is set to be fine sunny and warm all weekend. Expert, Classic Expert, Intermediate, Classic Intermediate and Clubman routes along with classes for British Bikes, Pre 85 twinshocks, Pre 95 ACM and Over 50's on moderns. Please bring an observer if possible who will be rewarded if they observe a section all day. Looking forward to seeing you there.
  13. Ive got a Mercedes Sprinter at the moment but i'm thinking about getting a smaller van for better mpg. cheaper insurance, cheaper road tax plus smaller size. However must be able to get 2 bikes in and two people. Prefer if it has sliding doors on the side too for ease of access. Problem is i only have a budget of about £1500. Been looking on auto trader and i quite like to look of the Peugeot Expert and the Citroen Dispatch but was wondering if anybody has any experience good or bad of them or could suggest another small van that would suit my needs and budget. Thanks
  14. FWIW this is why i always try if possible to have the ends cards more than a complete bikes length past the final obstacle.
  15. It is if you are riding at an ACU affiliated event but as teh previous posts have pointed out NOT at AMCA events.
  16. Just a quick note to all our friends, members and supporters. I have now updated the club website to include results from last Sundays trial along with current Championship standings so please visit www.peakclassic.co.uk for more information. Cheers
  17. Not our usual date slot so here's a reminder that Peak Classic Trials Club have their April trial at Dudwood Farm, Elton, Derbyshire. DE4 2LZ Start time 11.00am Expert, Classic Expert, Intermediate, Classic Intermediate and Clubman routes. Classes for British Bikes, Pre 85 twinshocks, Pre 95 ACM and O 50's on moderns Ive been down today laying out and the ground is wet but drying out well. The stream is in great condition and Barry Burton the landowner has put a lot of work in clearing overgrowth so this very popular venue will be perfect come Sunday so come along for a fun day out in the Derbyshire Peak District. One of those rare opportunities to ride sone excellent rocky stream sections and give your bike a final shakedown if you're off to Scotland in a week or two. See you there.
  18. Supplied to and sold by Commerfords doesnt make it a Commerfords Cub. If that were the case all the other bikes they were supplied with and sold were Commerfords whatevers. Sorry but looking at the photos thats not what people know as a Commerfords Cub. Thats like saying my James is a Mick Andrews James because hes ridden it
  19. Roy Bacons book "Classic British Trials Bikes" is a good source of photos and history re your bike. Are you certaim its a genuine Commerfords Cub ? Not just a missrepresentation by the previous owner or just a bike once sold by Commerfords ? there is a difference. Also the swing arm may have been changed at some point as is commonplace. I dont remember Reg May modifying and selling Commerford Cubs back in 1962 but might be wrong. Good luck with the rebuild.
  20. Dont forget this Sunday Peak Classic Trials Club hold their March Hare Trial at Stathams Quarry, Opposite Matlock Golf course, Matlock, Derbyshire. DE4 5LZ We dont know how much longer this venue will be available due to extensive house building nearby so come along and make the most of it while you can. All the usual fun and frolicks with Classes for British Bikes, Twinshocks, Pre 95 ACM and O 50's on Moderns Expert, Classic Expert, Intermediate, Classic Intermediate and Clubman routes Venue opens at 9.30 am and event start is 11.00 am as usual. For more details visit our website www.peakclassic.co.uk Dont forget to put your clocks forward this weekend. See you there.
  21. Budget on at least £300 per wheel built up and thats using a good second hand rim.
  22. Just keep the motor and put the rest on ebay because thats all there is from a road bike thats worth keeping. Oh yes and keep an eye out for a trials gearbox because the road one is not really that good ratios wise. Personally i'd just sell the lot save the money and buy a trials one already done. Much cheaper to do that in the long run. Sorry.
