  4. Got a good idea who it was then. Perhaps get a local engineering firm to peg the liner into the barrel as a belt and braces fix ?

  6. Because depending on land costs etc it may not be economically viable to run the event and if entry fees were increased to accommodate the low entry numbers less riders would enter, we all know how tight trials riders are, and the club would then have to fold.

  11. Not trying to teach my grandmother to suck eggs but have you tried compressing the legs out of the yokes and with the mudguard and wheel removed ? Just in case something is binding.
  12. I always used Persang springs in my Sherpas with no problems. However they were all later i.e. 198 and onwards models. Then again i'm 17.5 stone and one thing you havent mentioned, well i dont think you have, is your weight ?
  13. I would like to let all our friends and supporters know that our website has just been updated to include results of last Sundays trial along with current Club Championship standings. Please visit www.peakclassic.co.uk for full details.
  14. Well we had the wintery weather but with the help of Andy Craven and Tony Sprinks we have been around the course and eased where necessary some of the sections to reflect the weather. To be honest there wasn't that much to do as Stathams farm is pretty much an all weather course. So all good to go for tomorrows trial. Venue opens 9.30 am and start time is as usual 11.00 am entries close 10 mins prior to the start. See you there.
  15. If at all possible its always cheaper to buy one that a trials bike already as most of the bits will already be there. Then you can rebuild or modify from a good base. Converting a road bike or building it the Johnny Cash way "One piece at a time" will always cost more and take longer. Worth looking at the Yorkshire Classic and Vintage Club websites for sales and wanted. Whatever you decide good luck.
  16. This Sunday Peak Classic Trials Club hold round 11 of their 2017 season at Stathams Farm, Matlock, Derbyshire. DE4 5LZ Expert, Classic Expert, Intermediate, Classic Intermediate and Clubman routes Classes for British Bikes, Pre 85 twinshocks, Pre 95 ACM and O/50's on moderns Venue opens at 9.30 am and start time is as usual 11.00 am Entries close 10 mins prior to the start. Please bring an observer if possible.
  17. I had the same problem with an aftermarket mikuni conversion on my old Ossa mar. Never did cure it. Spoke to Allens where i got it from and they said it was because it was already 20deg angle with the bike on the flat. In the end i fitted a Dellorto and solved the problem at a stroke. Mikuni is a good carb but they are very angle sensitive. Good luck.
  18. Ouch Need to find something a LOT cheaper than that. Cant afford £120 plus for B & E cards. Need direction arrows too but not paying that the club cant afford it. If i come across a MUCH cheaper alternative i will post on here. Whatever happened to the Castrol arrows that everybody used so well for years ?
  19. Your best bet is to try a local engineering firm and get them to bore the legs and machine a bush to fit. The TY250 stantion at 34 mm is a bit of an oddball size. Either that or get the legs honed out to 35mm and the yokes as well and fit 35mm stantions which are widely available. Very common in Pre65 to have the sliders machined to take 35mm stantions. Good luck.
  20. A model clutch doesnt fit later models which i know from experience. Totally different and wont fit the gearbox shaft. Try it and see.
  21. Perhaps your original quote " but it should still be a pre 65, not a Twin shock with old engine" may have prompted the responses. If you fit modern shocks and fork internals along with the Mikuni it is hardly "still be pre 65" Modern upgrades are modern upgrades. They especially with regard to the suspension move the performance as far away from how they rode in 1964 that they might have come from a galaxy far far away. Believe me i know i rode them in 1964. They were awful.
