  1. Might help to know where you are... You can update your user profile to at least narrow down the continent. My dad just ordered one from here: ebay listing
  2. I had some old, old Dunlops on the Bultaco when I first got it. Wasn't interested in spending much on tires until I had ridden a bit. After a season on the old tires I got some new Michelins. I cannot describe the difference. The bike would go places I wasn't able to go. It felt much more sure-footed. Tires, and more so in trials than any other motorcycle sports, should be the only point of contact between you and the ground (not to say that I haven't had just about every body part touch the ground whilst riding trials) so you should make sure you get the best tire you can afford, whether it be a Dunlop, IRC or Michelin. Save the cheap tires for a bike you don't want to ride.
  3. I use my decompressor to great effect. It will slow you down on a downhill so perfectly, especially when you are in loose soil and braking would cause you to wash out. I'm surprised more people don't use them. And the farty noise puts a smile on the older riders.
  4. Here's Dick's bike. I heard that he built it for Kay. For those of you who don't know, Dick is in the Rickman shirt. Can we assume this bike is older than the Ossamahma? I need to re-read your story on this as to why that name. I guess DMWahma doesn't sound as sexy? The guy on the left had an interesting bike there too. Apparently a factory TY250. I'm sure someone knows more about that one. I have some pictures from when he brought it to Chehalis. Most what I remember of him was an accent and a propensity to "garden" as Derek Belvoir called it.
  5. Hey David! Ok, the million dollar question is... how hard is it to get the screws for the Ossa? I've heard those parts are as challenging as Montesas.
  6. As mentioned before, inserts are an option. I'm waiting to here back from the Ossa folks. It seems like there are quite a few Cota of that vintage running around. Are the the spares that dear?
  7. What is the spares situation in Spain like for the older Montesas? I think for several of the makes the supply is better in the US. Yes, we've tried that. Can't find M7 long enough, even with hex head. Thanks.
  8. I've been to your site many times. I remember it now as the "guy who's afraid of posting pictures cuz it takes up too much bandwidth" or something like that. Now we have the fightin' blogs... Tony in one corner and Michael in the other... Who will win!?!?!?!?
  9. I had thought of that, and that is on the table as an option. Thank you.
  10. Ah, here it is. It's a 250 but I think you get the idea. This was at Donner last year.
  11. There was something like that at Chehalis either this year or last year. I think it was 2006 and I may have archived those photos already. It was something like a 400cc motor stuffed in a 250 frame. Let me see if I can dig it up. As for a new frame for an old bike, make sure you hit up Jay Lael, he knows a thing or two about that.
  12. Will you put a gloop of silicon over the opening?
  13. Jared at Southwest said he takes them off old engines. The originals are crossheads. Ideally we would want to replaced them with socket heads. Have not tried any of the Bultaco dealers as one would hope that they don't want to deal with old Montesas. So far I haven't found any screwy screws on a Bultaco. I got an email back from Metric and Multistandard Supply in Dallas, they said, between chuckles, no way. I believe a M7 is slightly more common in Europe, so here's to hoping it is.
  14. According to a cursory search of their website they don't have anything listed for M7.
  15. As many of you may know the engine side covers are held on with an odd sized screw (at least odd to everyone I talk to). It's an M7x1.0 in both 55 and 38mm lengths. So far I have had no luck sourcing these. Are these even available from dealers in Spain? We're almost to the point of turning down M8 sized bolts or, God forbid, tapping the holes out to M8. Help!
  16. This is as fancy as I get. Trial Bike
  17. I have seen an adaptor to fit the WES exhaust to the stock pipe.
  18. There is a bit of info on the web about that. Shouldn't be hard to find.
  19. flickr does not allow you to link directly in a post. For that stuff I highly recommend Photobucket.
  20. Nowadays it can cost in much in gas to get the the local shop as shipping from across the country would be. Not only that but the local shop most likely doesn't stock as much. When do I support my local shop? Whenever I can. How often is that? Not as much as I would like.
  21. My uncle waited "a while" to get his exhaust from them. Much better to order it locally if you can!
  22. Luckily I posted a tutorial not to long ago. Hmmm... where is it?.... Ah, here.
  23. I've noticed that when doing figure-8s I can turn sharper to one side that the other. I think it's because of the throttle hand has a harder time controlling when turning right. Or something like that.
