mine say for trials competition only so im assuming they arent road legal. however the do meet the requirements for trear width/patter etc...the only other thing i can think of is the compound thats not legal?
Tom

Does anyone know If you can get road legal tyres that are also good for trials? if so what are they?

Is it the "Two stroke gear oil - light 75w - 1 litre bottle" on this page that you mean?
http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk/cgi-bin/bc_page.pl?cat=PJ-LUB
just checking before I go ahead and buy it hehe.
Thanks alot.

Cant find it anywhere! do you know of a more mainstream oil that i could use?
Thanks for the help, really appreciate it!
Tom
-
ill just leave it to drain itself then, cant hurt it. what oil is best?
Tom
-
i figured it would be best to flush it to get the amount right, also its not good mixing 2 types of oil, I dont even know if the old oil is synthetic or not.
Tom
-
Can anyone advise me on the best gearbox oil to buy? and also what to flush the old oil out with? some people say to run the engine with the flushing fluid in it for a bit, is this even safe?

I had my first trial about a month back and entered the novice route to test the water. found it very easy however on one section which was just a uphill climb straight to the top My boot brushed a tree root. after completing the section i turned around and the observer told me I got a 2.
He said my peg had hit the tree root(1) and said I "gave a little dab"(2) aswell. even at novice level its annoying when you get stung for points. but you cant argue hehe.
Also after cleaning section 4 came back to it on my second lap and thought "that felt different, did I go the wrong way?" looked at the observer and they gave me a thumb up so I did the same for laps 3 and 4. Picked up 15 points lol, all that time thought i was cleaning it!
In Dougies case, at the end of the day, it could have been avoided if there was good communication between the observers and competitors.
However It looks like he loses grip and is sliding backwards to me, his toe seems to be the only thing stopping him losing it altogether, unless his rear wheel found traction at the same time by coincidence.
id say it was benificial but thats just me!

always best to step back and take a look at it, wish i had thought to do that a while ago....
Id set myself the job of cleaning the front break caliper so needed to pump the pistons out to clean them, id taken the resevoir off the master cylinder and was pumping but the pistons werent coming out, I kept pumping and pumping for ages, i released the adjuster on the lever all the way out too as i thought the master cylinder may not have been letting more fluid in.
after a while i realised it was the clutch lever I was pumping....
after cleaning my brakes the correct way I also had to re-adjust the clutch, DOH!!

did you find there was alot of resistance against the scyringe? if so its probably because there is pressure on the clutch master cylinder, undo the locking nut on the adjuster on the lever and wind it all the way back so there is no pressure from the lever on the master cylinder, the fluid should travel freely through the hose and out the resevoir, be careful though, the fluid can shoot out very very fast and high!! so you should only need a little bit of pressure and you will see the resevoir filling up (you will probably need to empty it out with another scyringe as it can get too full).
hope this helps =]

Im thinking about selling my 2006 Beta and getting a 2007 gasgas 250, however the only thing that puts me off them is countless people telling me that they fall to bits!! is this true? if so, what goes wrong with them?
they look schweeeet.

im about due for a new rear tyre so if i find they arent road legal ill get a front and rear to match, how long do the dvla usually take to register it after you have completed all the forms etc? ill be going to the office to sort it all out.
Tom

I want to road register my 06 beta rev 3 and understand that I need an MOT, certificate of newness and insurance before I pay the DVLA a visit. however a friend has told me that because the bike was made in 2006 that it wont need an MOT as it is under 3 years old? Is this true even for a bike that was never intended for road use?
also, is it true that all I need to do to the bike for it to be ridden on a daylight MOT is fit an audiable horn and have road legal tyres?
Im not fussed on the whole road legal tyres thing, what do you rekon my chances are with the police if i get pulled, think they would spot that they are offroad tyres? surely the guy's who ride the trails dont have road legal tyres either and they dont seem to have much trouble?
any info much appreciated!

I recently tried to find it too, the best way to get there on the A53 going towards buxton is....
dont turn off towards the village of flash, instead, go past it and you will come to a tight left hand corner on the A53 going towards buxton.
theres a pub on the right on the corner called the travellers rest. go past that and take your first left (its pretty much straight after the corner)
you should be going down some narrow farm roads now, keep going and bear left at every turn you come to, eventually you will come to a house straight infront of you (a dead end) turn left here, its the only sharp left turn you will come across on this road so cant really miss it.
carry on along this road and you will come to a gate that will be open. this is hawks nest, go down a bit and theres parking to the left of the road.
to your right is the rocky hilly bit, and to your left is the farm where you pay and also another gate that should be open which leads down to the bottom part which is grassy, rocky and has a nice river bed.
to pay, walk down the road that go's downhill to the farm house, go around the house to the door and you will see a sort of bird box nailed to the wall, stick 3 quid in there and away you go.
hope this helps, ill probably be there next sunday, have fun and might see ya there sometime!
