  1. 626 is 26mm and 625 is 25mm bore size so carbs are almost identical. Both 600 series Amals. The bike should run ok on the 625 with minimal jet changes, try it and see.
  2. Have you checked the flat face of the operating arm, where it pushes on the pushrod? On one of my Bults the pushrod had worn a hole in it and would not push the assembly far enough to disengage the clutch. I filled it up with weld and filed it flat and made sure every time I had the casing off in future it had plenty grease.
  3. There was what looked to me like an HT5 type frame and running gear with an Arrow motor in the paddock at this year's pre-'65. Is this the bike you are thinking of? Looked quite well put together.
  4. Get a Sherpa. The later the better, plenty of spares.A 250. Quite reliable as well, maybe a bit slow steering but great over rocks. Maybe I'm biased though.
  5. Check them out here. Not much detail as they don't have a website. http://www.autoinsider.co.uk/local/engine-...ng/ai_21959.php Don't think I can make Ae,got to work.
  6. Its a nice touch Andy. Well done. I go for no events, its only 1 day a year.Show some respect.
  7. Hi Ross, maybe not much use but I have always used Kilmarnock engine services with no problems. As long as you tell them what clearance you want. West coast though. Davie.
  8. Try Mountain bike gloves.Half the price of trials gloves and just as good. I have some Raceface and 661 gloves. I ride mountain bikes also and use them for both.
  9. Bought an Amal mk2 carb for my Stormer, brand new from Burlen Fuel.
  10. I have been looking at Mikuni VM carbs,I know a few of the guys who ride pre-75 use them, work well on CZ's. They are supposedly better than Amals,I'm not too sure about eligibility, will need to inquire. I'm not too bothered about originality if the bike runs cleanly.Like most of these things questions are only asked if you start winning and there is not much chance of that.
  11. Rode the Stormer for the first time on sunday. Bike seemed to be runing roughly and would not rev too cleanly, thought I would give it a go anyway. Completed about 6 laps of practice, pulling strongly, pretty torquey,no need to rev it too hard. Then it just spluttered and stopped,at the furthest away corner fron the car,as always. Pushed it back to the car,put a new plug in and away it went. Started my first race, running fine, quite enjoyed it though the suspension needs work. Only a 4 lap race so finished no problem.Wouldn't start again all day so day over but quite enjoyed my few laps. Vibration is quite bad, maybe because it is a 410. Have since learned it is the carb that is the starting and running problem. The old Amal mk 1 is worn out. Saving up for a new mk2.
  12. I have just had the frame welded on my 1977 Sherpa with a MIG welder. I asked if I needed to disconnect anything and the welder said no,it is not necessary. Welding complete and the bike is still running perfectly.Completed a trial today with no problems.
  13. Bought the 410 Stormer at the weekend. Needs a few small jobs before it is race ready. I will report as I go. Haven't had a bigger engined, long stroke 2-stroke for a few years and forgot how much they kick back. Almost broke my ankle last night starting it with trainers on,big mistake.Boots only from now on.
  14. I see there is another 2 Stormers appeared on e-bay,both 370's. One looks pretty standard and another with a few of the mods you have on yours Andy. Very nice looking bike. The alloy sidepanels and underslung expansion chamber look good.
  15. Your bike sounds like a good one Andy.Lots of good mods on it for that money.
  16. Glad you had a good day. Yes I have seen the Stormer on e-bay,I will be very surprised if anyone bids on it.It's not worth
  17. My Model 190 250 Sherpa has a twin plug head.
  18. The Yamaha, every time.Great engine, still used in Scorpas. The Aprilia would probably be good fun as a play bike, blasting up big hills etc. a major handful in a trials section.
  19. My advice would be try not to go faster than you are comfortable with.Try to keep the bike upright. You lose a lot of time and get very frustrated when you fall off and have to re-start the bike. I fell off a lot my first season. Don't get too down if everyone clears off ,just finish and enjoy.
  20. No advice I'm afraid but I have just sold my 1983 twinshock Husky and would like to go older. I'm thinking of a Stormer also.Let me know how you get on with it.
  21. Well done to Steve Peat.Top man. Doesn't Rob Warner ride trials? Very well I think, expert level? Ex Downhiller. Crawford Carrick Anderson - ex Scottish trials champion I believe and ex top downhiller. I'm sure there must be more.
  22. I enjoyed the trial.Rode the easy route and probably lost more than I should but it is about my level.I'm not that good. Hard route looked quite difficult with a few tight turns etc but the results speak for themselves I suppose. Yes there was a bit of queueing at some sections but at least it was a nice sunny day unlike the scramble today which was cut short due to the mud. A great weekend.
  23. I was just thinking the same.I am in the Twinshocks,no.82 white(ish) Husky 250.
  24. I received my entry a couple of days ago for the trial and scramble on the sunday. Anyone else got theirs? Ross?
  25. I sent my entry away about 6 weeks ago and have not heard anything yet Ross. I don't think Ken Shutt has done the entry list yet. I rode last year and had a great day on the easy route on my Sherpa.A few testers but nothing too hard, even the hard route did not look too bad. There was long queues at some sections due to the large entry but a very enjoyable trial. Also worth camping and making a weekend of it to watch some great Classic scrambling on the sunday. Some of the best racers in the country ride on the sunday. Then theres me at the back of the twinshock field,if I get an entry.
