  1. Just got that myself, looks like its true then.Bummer!
  2. Paper gaskets and clear silicone.
  3. Hi Ross. Yes enter on the day,non-members welcome. Trial start can be found at the junction of A809 and B834.
  4. I would go for 10:00 as I am old and don't mind getting out my bed early. Though I voted for flexible start,I wouldn't mind waiting for any latecomers. Some people may have to travel a fair distance. It gives you longer for a chat with some mates you may not have seen since the last trial.
  5. Round 1 of the Scottish Classic Racing Motorcycle Club trials series is on 21st of feb at Kilearn. Classes for everyone though it was decided at the AGM that we are going to focus more on the classic and twinshocks this year. This means an easing of the sections though everyone is welcome, there will be an A route for anyone wanting a harder challenge on a modern bike.Anyone wanting some input as to the section severity are welcome to come early and help with the setting out.If you need details of times or directions,PM me.
  6. Welcome Paul, good to see an old Bult used as intended. Not tarted up and put on show like some ornament.
  7. I heard a story at the weekend that the Nostalgia trial this year is being held on the weekend before the scramble, not sure if it is on saturday or sunday though. The normal has been trial saturday then scramble sunday.I like to ride in both but cannot afford to travel there on 2 separate weekends so would have to choose one or the other.I prefer to scramble so would have to miss the trial, though I enjoy it. Anyone heard anything about this?
  8. As far as the SCRMC club trials go almost anything period or twinshock with drum brake is going to be ok,though what Ross says is common sense. Don't limit yourself by fitting a set that obviously look too new for the period. You may aspire to ride outside Scotland when questions may be asked. Though at Nostalgia last year there was a monoshock Yam with twin shocks tacked on riding in the Twinshock class but that's another arguement....
  9. You should've came across Ross, was a good day. Nothing you couldn't have tackled on the B40. James Morton lost 19 I think on his Cub.
  10. Thanks and well done to everyone involved in last sunday's Alistair Thomson memorial trial run by the Dalmellington club. Superb sections,a great day out. My score was poor but I was on a Bultaco.(thats my excuse) Davie.
  11. Big John, you are right Ian still has the 175.I bought my 250 Sherpa from him but he is keeping hold of the 175 as it is quite rare. Ian rides at some of our SCRMC trials on a modern Beta.He is a good friend of Alan Scott. I have ridden the 175 a couple of years ago at a club trial, just a quick run through a couple of sections,it felt very smooth and easy to ride.
  12. The Bultaco Page shows it as a 1979 and is all blue. Here http://cemoto.tripod.com/bultaco.htm
  13. These things are a pig to bleed. The last time I changed a fuel filter in one of these it took ages to get it to fire up again. The petrol shouldn't make a lot of difference, may even clean it out a bit, especially in this cold weather. It may be harder to bleed as the diesel will be very cold. In my experience get the diesel bled up to the filter then just keep turning it over with a good battery or even tow it in gear for a while and it will eventually fire. Good luck.
  14. I tend to do the same with the trials bike as the mx.Clean the air filter after every trial, gear and primary oil after 3 trials max, clean and dry the drums, oil cables etc regularly through the season. Major engine parts will last a bit longer than the mx bike as they don't get the same amount of abuse.
  15. Hey Liam, how are you? I scramble with the classic club as well as ride trials on an old Sherpa.I had a Husky twinshock but have a 410 Stormer for next year. Do you still have the Maico? The Scorpa sounds like a good buy, check the usual chain +sprockets, tyres, bearings etc.The Yamaha motors in them are pretty reliable,a good starter bike for trials.Any advice you need on starting trials etc just give me a pm.Is Richard going to try some more on the Fantic as well? Davie.
  16. I have been told that stainless rims and spokes are not suitable for a competition bike, the spokes are very brittle and snap easier than mild steel ones. Alloy rims are also lighter and more forgiving than stainless ones. Not too sure where I heard this, anyone else have this opinion? Stainless look much nicer mind.
  17. Steve Saunders on a Triumph twin?
  18. I'm not too sure how many links but I remember on my 198B with 11/39 tooth gearing I had to use a half link as there wasn't enough adjustment on the snail cams. The chain was either too tight or too slack without it.Meant using 2 joining links but never gave me any trouble. I also found that with the small 39 tooth sprocket on the rear wheel, tight rocky sections could de-rail the chain easily from the rear sprocket. I have a model 190 now and use 12/46 gearing which I find perfect, longer chain but no half links, slightly lower first gear and no de-rail problems with the larger rear sprocket. The lower gearing makes 2nd a better hill climb gear as well.
  19. Yes,it is called a tickler button. Try pushing this button up and down until fuel flows out, kick the engine over a couple of times then repeat the flooding and kicking until the engine starts.
  20. What carb are you using? Sounds like the usual Amal mk2 choke circuit is blocked.Try cleaning it out with an airline. My own Model 190 usually starts after 2 or 3 kicks from cold but always with the choke on and a closed throttle,if you twist it when kicking it refuses to start. If it is a Mk1 does it start with copious amounts of flooding?I had a Model 92 with an Amal mk1 and it had to be flooded then kicked then flooded again then kicked a few times before it would start from cold. Both bike would start from hot very easily. I also use points ignition, set up meticulously and cleaned regularly with no problems.
  21. Are you selling or thinking of buying the Model 10 advertised in Classic Dirt Bike?
  22. Size. The 600 is smaller than the 900. 600's up to a certain bore size then 900's.
