  1. I haven't got round to getting a manual for my Sherpa yet and I need new fork seals so I am going to do a fork strip and re-build.How much oil do I put back in?
  2. What is the postage cost/time from Spain? The website does not quote any postage or turnover times. I have a basic multimeter in the shed, will it do? Do I just measure the resistance between red and brown wires? I am a car mechanic and M.O.T. tester but electrics/electronics is a black art I haven't much experience of.
  3. Your right,sorry. I think I need glasses.
  4. The first incomplete bike on the link at the very top of the page with the white frame is the 198A. The red bike on the later link in the 198.
  5. Its because I'm a sad Bultaco anorak.
  6. The frame rails behind the seat loop right back and meet,on the 198b they stop either side.Must be a 198a as it has the aly sump plate.Swingarm looks round section,on the B it is almost box section like.
  7. I have a 1999 200 Techno, had it about 6 months with no problems but tonight I went to the shed to give it a once over for a trial on sunday and it won't start. It seems to be getting plenty of fuel as the plug is wet after a few kicks, though I cleaned out the carb anyway, just to be sure. It has a spark but it seems very weak and not very blue.Tried new plug, cleaned all connections, earths etc but no joy. Anyone any ideas, things to try? Rotor,Stator,Black box? I bought a twinshock Bultaco 2 weeks ago and took it to a trial last week, though I took the Beta on the trailer just in case the Bult gave me any trouble. It ran faultlessly but I think the Beta is in the huff!
  8. I've just been checking out tyre prices as I need new tyres for my Bult, and came across Vee rubber rear tyre for
  9. Did you enjoy the trial though? If you did, surely thats the main thing. I rode my first trial on a twinshock for 2 years today.I have been enjoying my comeback on my Techno 200 since last year but today rode my M190 Sherpa that I bought last weekend and have spent all week getting it ready (kind of).Though the bouncy rear shocks, leaking fork seals and ancient Pirelli tyres were still on the bike. The marks are pretty high,I kept stalling it first lap but got better as the trial went on. The main thing is though,I had a great day, loved it!I love Bults.
  10. I also wash my Diadora's with the soapy water whilst washing the bike, stuff with newspaper until dry, couple of days usually. Then brush on Nikwax with an old toothbrush.Done.
  11. Crawford Carrick Anderson. Trials.Enduro and downhill MTB.Profoundly deaf as well.
  12. First registered 01/02/1977.Red with silver frame. Matching engine and frame numbers. Where can I get an entry form from?
  13. Picked up a model 190 Sherpa today. All there and running but a bit rough, road registered as well on SORN. May tidy it up a bit and use it this year then pull it apart in the winter and do a proper job on it. My love affair with Bult's continues. Best twinshock, not even close but I love them! Maybe see you at Alvie John?
  14. I picked up 2 large cans of Silkolene filter spray oil on E-bay for
  15. I had one of these a few years ago with a view to re-building it,but the kickstart shaft had stripped all the splines off.A common Montesa problem I believe.I phoned round almost all the suppliers and breakers I could find but could not source another.Spares in general,I was told, are very thin on the ground.I sold it on soon after. The couple of times I had it running it seemed a good bike, very light and manageable. It had very high gearing though so no idea what it would have been like in a trial.
  16. 50:1 fully synthetic 2-stroke oil.
  17. I was just going to post this. Sound is crap, can hardly hear the bike engines.
  18. Very nice bike. A lot to polish after a muddy trial mind.
  19. The Mont or the Beta. Steer well clear of the Gasser.
  20. Try mountain bike gloves for trials, especially the thinner ones for cross country riding. Go to www.chainreactioncycles.com for some great deals on gloves, free post as well.
  21. I rode twinshock Bultaco's for 7 years (badly),took a year out mountain biking, missed trials so decided to buy a modern (1999) 200 Techno. I must admit I am enjoying my riding much more now as the bike is perfect, goes and stops when I need it to. However,I miss my twinshocks and am looking for another Bultaco, though I am keeping the Techno for club trials and will ride the twinshock in classic only trials. Your TLR is a very good twinshock mount, very competitive, can you not keep in and buy a cheap modern as well?
