Sherco 250 Vs 290
Repacking of silencers you've lost me there. I can see what you are trying to say but think you need to consider what I'm driving at. Grip is the same. Traction is the ability to put power down, through the grip. Traction is controlled by rider imput, grip and power, probably in that order. For example when we do training with the yonuger lads in our club (bearing in mind we are south midland centre) I sometimes find rider position either too far forward to get grip or too stagnent in one position. We use an exaggerated weight back position to find extra traction. The results of this can be staggeringly effective and an eye opener for the influence of body position on traction. A 250 Sherco has always been a snappier engine so generally will lose traction easier than a more pwerful 290, the power is different, grip the same. Regardless of the above as it is probably grammatical semantics, there are many cases where a more pwerful motor is of benefit where a 200 lets you down. Any help? If trials was simply a matter of grip we would all be riding those massive swinging armed hillclimbing things footpegs on the rear wheel spindle with 200 engines. It isn't we aren't.

No, still can't see it? By that logic if you put a 270 Beta engine in a 250 frame , it wouldn't grip the same. OK right.

Chain Comming Loose!
It looks shagged in the picture but I couldn't be 100%. Have you got a half link in it?

04 Clutch Pull
Mine feels the same or slightly lighter, same for Munch's bikes as well, strange. Get the dealer to check it out and try others.

290 250 200 all have the same frame etc. so grip will be the same.- What Chain To Buy?

This is one of the faults of the Sherco, in that some times a 3.5 gear is required, but rarely in competition. If you want to pratt around on a particular climb you have 2 choices; change the gearing, learn to ride so far in fourth till it bogs a little then knock it down into 3rd.- Chain Comming Loose!
Dude, you need to pal up with someone who knows about bikes. The less maintainence you do the more expensive they get, and you need to keep on top of lots of things. Anew chain may well be what you need but also chain and sprockets. When the new one is installed the tension needs to be spot on, and you know you need a half link of course, probably.- Beta Moel 2005
Be in no doubt ALL the manufacturers (excepting Montesa) will produce 2 strokes next year.- Planning Ahead...
Apparently the betas were blowing gaskets last year so it might be worth finding out if its possible to have a breather fitted? One thing that seems to fall off regardless of make is the little black pin between lever and master cylinder have a spare one. spare bolt for kickstart, unusual to loose the kickstart but the bolt is worth having. Rear wheel nut, spare plug. Adtustable spanner drilled and lightened does back wheel and spark plug, and others. Spare levers are nice, need to get a little box made up for a front number plate and then you can stuff all your bits in there, carrying very little? I am not being dismissive of the little scorpa it is definately a handy bike, depending on your requirements. However I cannot see any real advantages of it over say a sherco 125 2 stroke.- Float Height Measurement For 2.5

If you thught the 250 tlr gutless then bear in mind (a) this is half the capacity and ( this is a trail engine not a trial motor, horses for courses.- Tire (tyre) Pressure?
Many variables here, but as the top guys run around 4/5 psi in the rear and hit large rock steps in 3rd that would be fine for you. 5 in a michelin shouldn't give any trouble at all and good traction for a 13stoner.- Sherco 250 Vs 290
Over 40 myself and always had 290's, as long as you have reasonable throttle control they are fine. The general consensus before the 04 was that the 250 was a little more snappier anyway so a 290 is the choice, forget what tmx say. - Sherco 250 Vs 290
