wow andy, good design your a born natural with flare and an eagle eye for eye catching designs. i hear saatchi & saatchi are looking for an orginal creative designer and someone of your talents would be paid a mint. be safe thou and don't hand your notice in until they've seen your art portfolio and you've received the new employment contract. ps: the committee is assuming andy, your 5 years old with the same number for your IQ. pps: committee, andy is not related to me he did set up trials central and yes if you want the brainiac's to visit his caravan design i'm sure he wouldn't object.

Are there any logo designers out there? My club is seeking designs for our new 2008 club t-shirts. Post your designs on here and my clubs committee will choose the best design. The winning designer will be sent a free t-shirt and you'll also receive free club membership until the end of the year. If your not lucky in your design don't worry there will always be next year. The wording on the t-shirt should read: 55 motorcycle club 2008. Many thanks, Cliff
  7. Doug is improving on the 2stroke. There could never be any doubt he would start a little shakey getting used to the Beta, but as he becomes more confident so his scores would improve. He was in striking range of Bou's score in Japan, and this is the postion where he left off with Montesa. I still think he will improve and could get his 100th win on the 2stroke - I really do hope he gets his 100th win.
  8. Just throwing a different angle on transport and the Transit Connect. I've noticed the MPV second hand resale market is getting cheaper I came across this: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...mp;max_mileage=

    Fantic (what Is It?)

Bilsdale is the place near Sunderland?..... and your in Germany so if your offering to pick me up on the way through i could be persauded? Could ask Atom Ant if he's interested too he knows how to ride a Fantic so if you've a spare bike we could (thats a big could) get three red fannies in a trial.
  10. An Intermediate riders bike i helped rescue had his bikes front wheel jammed between some rocks standing the bike vertically on its front wheel. I couldn't reach the bikes back wheel from the top of the bank when i lent down to grab it. I'd say the drop was closer to 6 feet.
  11. It was a lucky win. Excellent trial and AA was getting the hang of the Fantic to the point of me considering taking it off him . i'd say AA beat me on the second set of punch cards - the '5' was unfair mate. I witnessed my Fantic (in the gifted hands of AA) float on the back wheel into that section that moments before an Intermediate rider had gone over the bars at the same entry point! The observer didn't know it wasn't AA's bike, i would have told him its not my bike so it don't matter . I'm glad your happy to watch Ross because your a better rider than what you think lady luck was not on your side. Best of luck to Stu next year and bad luck with the going the wrong way at section 13.

  13. Is there any advice for someone who is unfit, fat and riding this event?

    Fantic (what Is It?)

The trial went really well a few of the guys wanted to do the modern trial so this is where i ended up. Out of us six riders (they were all on modern bikes) had the trial been observered i would have beaten the lot of them. However five of them ride a class or two below me whereas one rider is not that far off me but has a lot more courage. I was surprised it rode so well on the rocks, in the mud leaving the clutch alone it would grip better than some modern bikes because of its soft bottom end power. The new foot pegs and raised handlebars are to my liking the bike feels almost modern to ride. In another Fantic Thread i asked the a comparision question between a Beta Rev 3 and a Fantic 240. Now bearing in mind my Beta has the flywheel weight removed a set of Boysean reeds and re-jetting: Beta Vs Fantic Power: Beta - loads and instant Fantic - 3/4 of the Beta and smooth Suspension: Beta - hopping mad Fantic - plush Brakes: Beta - sharp Fantic - good Weight: Beta - lightish Fantic - not that bad I've decided to keep the bike looking standard. The mudguards do need changing as too do the side panels - these are on order. When they are fitted i'll post another picture. Also i've been told if i were to ride the bike in the Twinshock championship i'd ride 'B' class, so how many of you lads ride this championship?
  15. Thanks. The Champs Points i see there are quite a lot of classes A-F. Would you happen to know which class i'd ride? (I did see a couple of names on the B class i recognise).
  16. Having just bought a Fantic 240 does anyone have the dates of the remaining venues. (What would be nice is if with a topic like this the calendar dates and venues are linked to this topic at the top of the page, i'm not moaning). Does anyone know who is leading the Twinshock championship and have the link to the championship? Also, what riders are at the top and championship points table would be nice. On Sunday my Fantic will be rode in the Forest Trophy Trial, if anyone has experience of this event could you cast judgement as too the course for the Twinshock class compared to the Twinshock championship class?

    Fantic (what Is It?)

ITS RUNNING!!!!......second kick is all it took and after about a minute it was ticking over without me fiddling with the carb setup. Had a short ride up an alley and i can report its now wheelieing in third on throttle alone and no requirment to yank at the bars in this gear either. In comparison to where i started off a month ago when i bought the bike i had to give it the beans and yank at bars in first gear to have the front wheel lift - so its going a lot better i think i can say. Next job will be finish off the pegs buy some new tyres, and i'm toying with the idea of a 200cc conversion with the top yoke and a smaller petrol tank - recommend these? On sunday there is a pre67 and twin shock trial, or i've a modern bike trial, so what should i ride?....both events will be riding for FNA. Thanks to you all for all your helpful advise. Thanks also to Steve Goode, Bill Pye, Classic Trials because with out these guy's this bike may have never seen the light for another 10 years.

    Fantic (what Is It?)

Whilst rumaging through the garage I remembered I had my old 2007 Beta Rev3 footrests. Guess what!!!.....a hacksaw and a few hours of filling has them now on the Fantic.....if anyones interested its a very easy job, no welding and using the existing mounts on the Fantic. For someone of my limited abilities its an easy job. The standard pegs are 26mm across, the Rev3 pegs are 45mm. Source coil should be with me tomorrow. This will be the final job ready for starting......holding my breath

LH, just PM'd you - thanks. Today the cyclinder head came off i found two metal gaskets, which had been leaking. The piston and barrel look good, no slack on the pistion and compressing the piston the ports are cast nice with no rough edges. The new fuel tap was fitted the old having lots of crude on the filter. The new coil is fitted and the source coil has been sent away to have it re-wound. Next week it should be running with its new carb, anyway have a favorite spark plug? thanks,

Can you post some photos of this mod to the brake i can't picture what your saying. Does anyone know where i can getta hold of some 300cc foot rests?

    Fantic (what Is It?)

Thanks LH. After some thought i've decided to buy a new oko carb. I've been told 'the source coil' needs replacing because when the bike gets hot it cuts out with no spark. Only after it cooled down did start up again. I had a nice chat with a very knowledgeable guy who supplies Fantic bits (nice chap) and the other parts i'm now considering replacing are the: dansi coil, exhaust muffler - wes is restrictive, fit 300c footrests, 0.5mm head gasket. I have been pointed in the direction of Bill Pye 01642 722378 but he's not answering his phone. Does anyone know if Bill is at the SSDT or not open for business today? At a later date i may replace the top yoke......does anyone have a picture showing the Source Coil on the stator plate just so i know what i'm looking at. Thanks again. PS: never been this involved in working on a trials bike but am beginning to enjoy it.

    Fantic (what Is It?)

Thanks. The slide does have the o-ring and the air filter is clean. I'm running the bike on 50:1. This bikes got cater. The fuel tap has now decided to stop leaking! I rode down a short alley to see how the bike revs. Iniationally low to midrange revs were okay, but when i gave it the beans it held back. I done this a couple of times with the same result. parking the bike in my garage i decided to see if it would rev out, so on went the ear defenders and full throttle applied. The bike again held back at top revs. Keeping the bike running the idling speed increased, so i had to wind out the idle screw and lumpy running low down disappeared - weird. When i reved the bike and let its revs drop to tick over the bike seems to hunt/chase it revs and takes some time to settle into idling. To me this seems to be an air leak? I'm also wondering if the electrics are up to much good stopping it reving out? Its got a Dansi (?) coil. The stator plate i can't see any manfacturers marks and the chances are its all orginal. The spark is not that strong but its working. So perhaps a new carb an intake rubber I just want to be certain this will sort the running problems before i commit to spending.

    Fantic (what Is It?)

Your right I was looking at the main pilot jet and got a little mixed up. The jetting is standard. I inspected the timing after removing the flywheel and all is good. The seal on the choke is perished and the throttle slide has some scoring around the bottom of the slide. I cleaned the carb and reassembled it. I set the air screw to 2 and a quarter turns out. After the iniational warming up the bike would not idle, well not until the idle screw had been turned in nearly all the way. When the bike was ticking over i noticed when i blipped the throttle it would take about 3 seconds for the engine to settle to idling. As a don't know what this bike should run like does this sound okay? If the carb is worn out does anyone have a replacement and a price? The Intake rubber from the carb to the engine looks in good order as too does the hose from the air box to the carb. The previous owner mentioned it didn't have much power and had problems driving up longish hills. This does not ring true from my observations of twinshock Fantics. My next port of call will be to inspect the exhaust for carbon build up. The engine does sound nice i've not ridden the bike as of yet. I noticed the front sprocket has 11 teeth but my spare set has 12 so the down of power theory could be correct.

    Fantic (what Is It?)

I took the carb off and noticed the main jet was 44 (not 95) i'm definately thinking the ignition has been retarded. Bike will have the flywheel taken off tomorrow. I also made some enquiries and found out the engine had
