No mention of clubs not making money Ron, in fact I think it's a good way of boosting the club kitty, my point was how few a rounds per year can the NATC stand before running in the red ?
You say yourself after two years of nationals your club is taking a year off to regroup, in our club most of the old guys are past regrouping and have had enough, finding anyone to help run the event on the day is like pulling teeth, with no sign of any young blood coming along to take up the slack.
I'm seeing a decline in interest in trials at all levels, and thought I would ask why clubs don't want to host nationals, only a few years ago clubs were getting turned down at the NATC meeting due to too many wanting to host events, whats changed?
-
I agree, if there is a choice it must be better for the sport.

He deleted his post Charlie, mine looked silly without a quote, so I deleted mine
"Basically he stated that he would be careful buying a bike with a nicosil coating as BMW had a recall on their cars in 95 through 98 and had to change the blocks."
-
so far three replies, possibly never, hopefully never, and it might.
I don't have a clue but havn't seen an official FIM statement saying one way or the other.
-
Reading some of the replies to the US national dates story on the front page.
Firstly Craig, just posted next years dates he didn't arrange them, so a topic on this forum would be a better place to voice your opinions.
Very few events, mostly east side of the country, no events in school vacation,
events held on back to back weekends are some of the comments posted.
To be fair to the NATC they can't organize a friendly series if no clubs volunteer to host events, also those that have volunteered like Arizona, can only do events at certain times of the year.
I think the questions should be why are clubs no longer wanting to host events, I have done many and to tell the truth I just don't want to go through all the hassle it involves, marking a trial course is the fun part.
I was in two minds as to put our club forward for an event this year, but having read the changes implemented at this years meeting am glad I didn't, those being more classes added to a series with already way too many classes in my opinion, and the changing of the section marking to that of the FIM where
different classes have individual gates, way too confusing in my book.
What would make more clubs volunteer to host events ?
In my case I would like to see only one split marker used, [PRO] exp could ride the easiest 50% of the pro lines this would be stated on the start card, ES could ride 30% of the easiest pro lines, again stated on the start card, all support classes ride the base section without taking any splits.
This gives four levels of difficulty in an event by using one split marker, I see the new system leading to problems for trials marshals and riders.
This season I see the NATC loosing $$ on the series, even though the entry fee has been raised, this can only go on for so long until the NATC can no longer afford to function.
One of the biggest problems I think is!! more attention is given to what idividual teams riders etc want from an event, than the people who are doing the work, all well and good but, without the volunteer the rider gets nothing.
This is just my opinion of what I see happening, and see the same type of problems at all levels of the sport from club to world level, one of the
biggest factors for this is getting people to do the job in the first place, as
new changing of the guard occurs on the riding side of the sport, even though
the volunteer can go many more years than a rider, in the end they also move
on, and the supply of people taking their place , just isn't there anymore.
post your opinions but keep in mind that the NATC can only work with what they are given, number of events when and where are down to individual clubs.

A lad sent me this yesterday, should get you Scorpa boys excited.
All the Japanese championship last game northeast conferences, at the meeting place of sport land SUGO, Japanese first release and SY250F were released. This machine, still it is not completion state with prototype, but the thinking where the Yamaha staff is hot make actualize it is something which the ス コ ル pas that and there is also the visiting Japan of スコルパ president, would like showing that form to the Japanese trial fan by all means.
Not only showing simply, you say) to unite with charge construction, that with the notion that where, we would like to have hearing also sound by all means, the engine less machine which is sent from France (to tell the truth it was a in disjointed part state where the defect item is many the prototype machine was put in a state where it moves barely, (it is regrettable to be the time when the customer returns almost. Because it ran one time paddock, you think) that also the person who views that comes.
After the tournament, just won Nozaki history high test drive to this machine. To tell the truth Nozaki, it had not ridden in this machine almost, it came to the point of beginning test drive in fact.
After the tournament because the section which it runs there is no mental pressure it is something which it runs simply, but nevertheless, Nozaki's form which easily runs inside the section with the new machine is impressive.
"There is a power tremendously. As for power sufficient. There being too much a power, the arm stretched. The machine is light very, is. Rear something, from 2 stroke machines the extent which wobbles easily "
With, as for first impression high appraisal. Running the section, the exhaust note reaching, was quiet. Perhaps, it is the extent perhaps quieter than TY-S125F.
For the present, those where it is delivered to the labor assistant of everyone from the New Year extending through the spring are to say, but the trial machine first twin cam engine, we would like to expect the appearance a little () patiently.

-
I love seeing the old names, Peter Gaunt riding a 350 machine but made a name for himself on the small bores.
Some other stats, like total sections and miles would be nice.
-
Alan. I know your from the land of deliverence, but tall lanky trials riders.
-
The metal tank on the TL250 would get the old gas boiling with no problems, wouldn't give it another thought.
-
After a while you just get tired of seeing trolling tripe like this, and stop visiting.
-
One month later, electric bike did it's job (got him going) but after two weeks it just didn't run long enough on a charge to feed the need, so I got him a second hand suzi JL 50, thought that would keep him happy for at least a year, wrong!! couple of weeks of riding the nuts off that he noticed it didn't go ower stuff like his brothers bike, so asked if he could try the Sherco 50.
I don't think I have ever seen a kid so keen to ride, every day first thing out of his mouth is can I ride.
-
Sound's for some the stock gearing may feel a little tall, but that will be ideal for what you want her for Gizza send her on.
-
I found putting a deflector made of duct tape so that the fender is still removeable, stops all the muck and water thrown off the rear wheel, and last's plenty long time
-
I go for the warm bed, TV, fridge and shower mi sen, of course with attaching guest room
-
Never used to have an outer spectator tape, in fact often spectators boots were the boundary, suppose it all keeps getting changed to make the event fair for all competitors.
But I wonder if the rule makers/changers have noticed yet, that it is getting more unfair, and less riders than ever now ride the champinship class, time to back the old rules bus up a bit.
My youngest learned at less than one year old, that if you touch something hot it burned, lesson learned,
how many times do the scoring rules have to be changed back and forth to learn it isn't the scoring rules that are the problem.
Ask the top teams, riders, manufacturers, what is the best way to solve the problems, the answer will be what ever suits thier situation best.
Bottom line! the way it's going it will soon sort itself out for good.
-
I think it applies to all makes, this time of year getting rid of old stock leads to some low priced new bikes so low that the lad selling a good used 05 models has to take a big hit.
With fuel prices adding extra cost to everything we buy, but wage increases none existent we could see the lads who changed bikes once or twice per year making that machine last a couple of years, small upside to that is spare sales.
But some very good condition second hand bikes for little money about so got to be a buyers market.
Does the dealer trade price mean some are loosing 50% on a 8 or 9 month old bike
-
Raga! "it's not under this rock Fuji"
Well w'll have to buy the trials TV Duluth DVD to find it then
-
-
Paddling through a section as always been a three, that's why they bother to keep going and spend the energy to save the two points.
-
Doesn't that make it unfair for the rider who has one or no minder then ? and more of a case if some riders have a bigger safety net than others.
Motor sports are dangerous riders competing in motor sports don't have
much of a comeback if they sign on.
There are many more machines on the course not competing than are, more of a chance of some bystander getting hurt by one of those, as stated in the ACU minutes.
Sections are pre inspected by the FIM official, anything deemed too dangerous should be taken out/ changed, at that time and often is, also the riders will and often do, agree to not ride any section they think to be over the top.
You and I go ride an event not having pre walked the sections and without minders every weekend and never give it a second thought, yes we are not riding world round sections, but we are riding to the extent of our ability.
I don't know if the word for full no stop next season is fact or fiction, but all this changing of the rules surely indicates it's not working as is, but I think they are looking in the wrong area to solve the problem.
-
Interesting point raised in the ACU forum report.
[Q]• Experience at World rounds tended to indicate that even those riders who were not necessarily at the top end of results felt greatly disadvantaged if they were not in the same position as others regarding the number of assistants they had. Once Dougie Lampkin & Adam Raga ended up with 3 – 4 people circulating with them – lots of others are now trying to achieve the same, regardless of ability/ results.[Q]
So why is it allowed then ?
Many think sections are too difficult/dangerous, but only a few have the security of numerous bodies to catch for them, would the top riders ask for eased sections if no other person was allowed in a section other than the rider?
