  1. Daft bugger Gav, you don't think she put her own address do you
  2. Reading the Manzano retirement story, and posts from a thank you letter on todo trial one which I took a small quote from [Q]"As they say that way, also they left Joan Pons, Cobos , Alcaraz, and now until they speak of which Jarvis will not be next year in world-wide!!!!! [Q] Could be time to have one qualifier in Spain open to any rider, then the top three places could then go on to contest the world championship over a few rounds and locations which they choose, Fuji, Doug, Adam, then could save everyone else a lot of wasted time manpower and $$$$$, this would allow the rest of the world to get on and ride trials. The world trials championship circus is one step away "if that" from F1 biggest check book wins deal. Yes the top stars are brilliant to watch and so good at their trade, but if they are that bloody good they still should have no problems beating the rest on a stock bike, no minder, full no stop trial with sensible sections that another 50 or 60 riders throughout the world could compete on. Of course if you ask the top riders and teams what do they think about a comment like this! the answer would be he's full off it!! but my motives for saying this are not $$$$$$$$ and if in their shoes of course would agree with them, But I'm not. I have watched the FIM over the years bend over backwards to try and meet changes and address problems that crop up year after year has the section get bigger and the bikes get better. Well after all this time and changes the end result is less riders, less new bikes sold and less spectators. is this what you call progress ?
  3. I think it's time for a water pump seal and/or water pump shaft bearing, also while it's out check for wear on the water pump saft were the lip seal of the pump seal contacts the shaft, over time that little rubber lip seal wears the shaft just enough to let a little coolant pass. Don't worry this is not a big job or expensive, but if you are not sure or feel it's beyond you, have someone else do it. Parts needed will be seal, bearing, impeler shaft, case gasket.
  4. I just posted this to our local club site, it's my opinion on trials growth in our club, I also think it applies to events world wide, even in the world trials HQ Yorkshire england, it doesn't take a smart man to see which clubs have the formula right. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking at the results of the Jordan creek trial with focus on the novice and intermediate classes. 1 Richard Chapman 10/5 7/4 3/7 20/16 2 Josh Huffman 4/8 8/7 9/6 21/21 3 Daniel Blanc 11/5 9/6 4/8 24/19 4 Bill Hasenjaeger 12/5 5/7 8/5 25/17 5 JD Morris 13/4 24/2 13/5 50/11 6 Hans Kaplik 20/3 26/0 21/2 67/5 7 Nathan McDonald 29/2 21/2 18/5 68/9 8 Jeff Zertanna 27/1 25/2 31/1 83/4 9 Jake McDonald 38/0 20/2 34/2 68/9 Dnf Michael Matovich 20/1 Dnf Michael Morris Intermediate Lp 1 Lp 2 Lp 3 Total 1 Mike Strauser 6/6 3/8 1/9 10/23 2 Tony Andrews 4/7 5/7 2/8 11/22 3 Larry Klein 0/10 9/6 3/7 12/23 4 Mark Snyder 4/6 2/8 6/6 12/20 5 Abe Wirth 8/7 1/9 6/8 15/24 6 Hank Wirth 7/5 8/6 1/9 16/20 7 Justin Tollefson 9/6 4/6 10/4 23/16 8 Glenn Goodman-Hawk 10/6 8/5 8/8 26/19 9 Mike Wirth 18/4 3/7 6/5 27/16 10 Didier Blanc 19/3 8/4 5/6 32/13 11 Keith Ditmars 13/5 9/5 11/5 33/15 12 Nick Badger I have gone through all the results for the season on those two classes. The dabber and Walt and Gene's trial got the section difficulty for morning riders spot on! this weekends trial also had the correct formula for giving challenge while providing enough cleans for entry level riders to give them both confidence and enjoyment to come back and try again. This has nothing to do with event format or if the event is observed or group check, I think by using nothing more than the past years results we have documented evidence on how the section severity could be best used to make the club grow. Champ class, Max Nelson got hung up a bit trying to get a win in the Expert class, well into the season he finally won one and since has gone from strength to strength, to keep this improvement moving in the right direction his next move needs to be to the champ class. This is good for all the afternoon classes, the jump from Intermediate to Advance needed to be eased, it now can be! there are still a bunch of us who are steady riders in the expert class but don't need to be doing the silly steps and back wheel hops across gaps to get our weekend jollies, good upcoming young riders like Max have now a place to go with the champ class and a excellent school masters in Dennis and the ever youthfull seasonal rider Stan the van man to keep them improving, again the sections can be tough in that class with plenty of challenge but still do not need the worldround steps and dangerous stuff. I do have a bit of experience in section marking and what is needed to make the events enjoyable while still giving a challenge, probably the best attended event this year would be the Dabber, this also shows people remember events and how the section severity and enjoyability were last time they rode that event, they show this by attendance the following year,we the club need to use this information to increase that attendance. It is not our responsibility to make national or world champions, but we do need to do what is best for our club members at the club events. The more young riders we can get hooked on the sport the better the chance of having club rider's competitive in the national championship class, in in the past when the club attendance was up we did have. 5. Kinell could set a new Scott record, the only man ever to ride past the CB ten times during the event
  6. Mungo jerry , he grew those side burns because they were the hot pop group then
  7. Section 2 Diamond mill, I marked the course out. It was the last round of the year and the championship came down to whoever won the final two rounds in Tillamook. Who is the guy watching in white T shirt and red riding pants ?
  8. Minder Dale, rider Ryan, section Tillamook, year about 95
  9. My 8yr old lad is at home on his Sherco 50, and the suspension is just working for him like it does for me on my full size bike, he looks in proportion on the little bike, but now we are doing some tougher trails like the 03 Oregon national loop, the little wheels and tires are letting him down. I looked at a 2000 model Beta 50! the spacing on the back wheel looks the same, but with a heavier rim and tire, has anyone tried putting a wheel like this in a Sherco 50 ? We are now at the same point! move up to an 80 and let him struggle on a bike that is too big for him, or try mod his 50 has it's just the right size.
  10. Great championship win for Steve, well done. Looking at the point spread and the photo's of the sections, this it the type of trial that will make the championship grow. Now if they could only see this at world level they may get more than three riders capable of getting on the podium.
  11. I just put a waterpump seal and bearings in for a local lad in his 97, 250 Techno, and thought I had put the seal ass backwards, but looking at the picture in this topic I have put it the same way. Anyone know if this is the correct way?
  12. I would loose the RTL part John, TLR will do the job.
  13. Go to TODO trial and look at the new mont press release, lots of pictures, of the motor and flat piston.
  14. Got the seat yesterday Marky, spot on! thanks a lot.

  17. I'm riding a 125 Scorpa race edition at the moment, compareing it with a RR I would say both give a plush ride down the road.
  18. So you'll be getting a 400 quid rebate if they don't keep their promise Marky Demand is high and a lot of sponsored riders to fix up one way and another then teaser bikes to send to importers all over the world. How many can they produce per week going flat out ?
  19. Grimbo's score was too high on the first lap, the new kids must of kept him awake all night, wife e'll be kicking him out of bed at three in a morning to empty knappies poor lad.
