Are they true ally though? I reckon just a guess mind but would guess the magnesium content will be high! My guess would be that they are Alli, mag tends to be used for casing etc, I think Ali is better suited to the job (though its been many many years since i did anything to do with material science) But take the wheel along to a welder, he could probably tell easily & there is nothing to lose

Why don't you go and find somebody who can Ali weld, you have nothing to lose and it may be repairable?

I would second Scott T's comments abouts Birkett's, They did a rebore on my Beta earlier in the year, very helpful & good work fom their workshop.

Mark Having cleaned everything up, check the adjustment (length) of the rod between the end of the pedal and the master cylinder, I had a similar problem on the sherco where the travel of the pedal was so much that the piston in the master reached the end of its travel before the brake was fully on. I lengthened the push-rod and it fixed the problem. I also realise that on a hydraulic system you shouldn't have to do this but as I say it fixed the problem for me. Mike

Could you be a bit more specific on which part of the South you are in ? there are loads of Clubs arround so you shouldn't have a problem.

Why not give framed certificates with the offer of a trophy if the rider asks for one. That way you have something to present if required and you can bin the certificate and reuse the frame if the recipient doesn't turn up or want it.

Assuming Profit is a % of sale price I wouldn't be to surprised to see the manufacturers "retire" the 2 strokes from their ranges over the next few years ...

I think you have had your question answered, but I put the front wheel across the back of the passenger seat (and folded rear seat) and the rest of the bike diagonally across the back. The rear wheel goes in behind the door frame with a bit of a shove. If I took the rear seats out it would go in easy.

I can get a Sherco 290 into the back of my Wife's Belingo Multispace so pretty sure you could get a bike into the van

I agree with Scotty having gone the 290 route. Unless you have exceptional clutch/throttle control the big stuff is a hindrance, even if you are a lard ar$e a 200 or 250 is pleanty. As for transport whatever gets you and the bike to the trial works for me. Recommend you get yourself to a few trials, talk to people & you may even get a ride on a bike or two. Took my 290 sherco to a trial only today in the back of my wifes Berlingo Multispace, didn't even take the seats out. Bit of a squeze getting it in but it fits. Take the seats out & it would be easy. Great little car, electrics a bit iffy at times but it dont stop running ...

Thanks Baldilocks, the liner is indeed steel. For others info, I phoned Lampkins who confirmed that the earlier 200's are steel lined. Also told me that beta only do 1 oversize that I am pretty mine is already on. They did however put me onto Birketts who have found a piston that will take the bore out further, so mine is off to them in the post tomorrow. Anyhow will add a post when I get it back, the info may be useful to other 200 owners.
